One of those blonde bodybuilder-caveman series got a few books translated.
It was the one about the enlighted, atheist caveman using deductive logic to solve his problems.

YES IT NEEDS ONE.
>>83298460
Do you really give a shit what they're saying before they do it?
Fucken Rahan, man, I'd sacrifice little white babies to have a translated version of the comic an the dessin animé! My folks lived close enuff to the Quebec border that their cable had a French language channel and I watched several episodes when I was younger.
>>83300790
>I would buy at least 1 volume my man
Yeah, I hear you. So would I. My French is rudimentary; and so even though the French comics are reasonably accessible, I'd rather not jump in the deep end like that.

Now, now. We all have Manga Purchase Regrets from the early aughts Tokyopop boom.

Did Tokyopop release a single thing actually worth reading?
>>83308731
I remember a decent thing I read a volume of about assasins. It was called Riding Shotgun or something similar, I think. The main characters were a guy who looked kind of like the fellow from No More Heroes and a busty redhead with a sawed-off.
It was pretty good, of the one book I read.

Welcome to the NHK and Great Teacher Onizuka

It's pretty nice.
Caveman is guided by his ivory knife, goes when the sun rises, adventures during the trip.
It's not the best franco-belgina comic from that period, but it's pretty unique and is a perfect pulp.
>>83309348
Oh my. Thinking about it, /pol/ would LOVE Rahan
>"aryan"
>man alone vs the world
>hates sorcerers and impostors manipulating the weaks into worshipping them

Should I dump one, even if it's in french?

Please do.
Maybe it'll encorage someone to start translating.
And if not, at least we will have seen Rahan's perky nipples.
>>83312524
Bad news, I though I have downloaded them.
Good, news, I can still scan the one I have.
You call that a giant crab?
>>83309857
Absolutly GOAT.

The real question is: why did they draw him with a vagina? "He" has a very pronounced vaginal crease showing in that loincloth.
>Malicious image
well FUCK YOU TOO
Strangely enough, though Italian comics were all the rage in ex-yugo countries, I think I read an issue of this thing once. He joined forces with some tribe of really huge cavemen to take down one of the last remaining dinosaurs by pinning it between two giant trees.
Ooga booga, me have to go 2 hours.
Me will be back to scan after.
Me hope.
Booga oooga.
>>83314331
so, don't forget to bump it.
>>83311323
>Oh my. Thinking about it, /pol/ would LOVE Rahan
/co/ certainly doesn't give a fuck about the roughly four to five books somebody scanlated.
But then again, what would you expect of /co/?

There are some of these magazines translated in spanish but i don't know if it is in the right order
>>83314331
Is there a froganon who can translate this comic here?
>>83315680
I could, but it's a bit text heavy and I must go to work soon.
Basically it goes:
Rahan, son of Crao, is looking for the sun's lair as usual.
Sleeps in a bear cave.
Hunters form the MoonHair tribe find him; go "how can he sleep in the lair of a bear? He must be from the NightHair tribe. Sorcery!Bear-Fucker!"
Rahan get captured, tries to explain that he's just passing by, but since two tribesmen have just been killed by "The Mad Beasts" whom he suspect Rahan is allied to, the chief's (with the wings on the cap) gonna get him locked and sacrifice him if the beasts attack again.
Rahan tries to escape, it doesn't work, then he's freed by a chimp. He follows the chimp, guessing that it will led him to those NightHair fellows, and get mauled by (mad) beasts in the way.
Long story short, The wife of the NIghtHair chief died the day the hunters killed a momma bear, the chief's daughter adopted the cub, went mystic and created what is essentially a giant zoo/reserve. The MoonHairs weren't aware of it and hunted the animals, killing the cub. Girl goes postal at the loss of her cub and unleash the beasts on the other tribe. Zebras eat human flesh, rabbits gut you, it's hell on Earth.
Rahan remarks that it's time to stop if the tribes don't want to kill each other. Now they're trying to join all the beast a appease them before they kill the humans.

They took inspiration from the castrato heros of US comics, I would assume?

The girl got captured by a giant enemy spider while they were slingging across the treetops. Rahan jumps and distract the spider, and try to ,
Then he realises that he has lost his necklace, gift of his father and siege of his virtues. He jumps after the spider, catch his necklace, cut the web and let the monster fall to its death. Sadly, due to the exoskeleton, it comes back and they have to use an improvised catapult to kill it.
Meanwhile, the chief of the MoonHair doen't want to burn the zoo that the NightHair spent so much time building because of a simple feud, and the chief of the NightHair remarks that any fight will result in bloodshed for either side. So they decide to settle it like gentlecavemen: Duel to the death with maces. Bro dialogue between the chiefs ensues while they're beating the shit out of each other. The tribesmen are concerned but respect the wishes of their chiefs and don't intervene.
Girl and Rahan arrives just in time, accompanied with a shitton of beast, with the subtlety of a panzerdivizion.
Hunters are extactic since it means they will be able to eat this winter.
Rahan delivers nice moral about assuptions and moral absolutism. The tow clan unite, chief of MoonHair becomes shaman of the new clan.
Rahan says to the girl that he's looking for his wife's sister (Neanderthal iirc, sorry /pol/, no racial purity in the end*), and leaves the newly united clan on a rented Mammoth.
Rahan's happy because despite their difference, those guys were good people, and he got nice stories to tell to the next clan he'd meet.
La Fin. Thanks for the storytime anon.
Looking back at it, Rahan is one of the most optimistic/good-natured comic I remember reading.
Bonus : cartoon opening, deliciously outdated.

*which is pretty crazy btw, when the first comic was made the scientist didn't believe that Nehandertal and Homo Sapiens lived at the same time, nor had child together.

>Did Tokyopop release a single thing actually worth reading?
Of the translated manga, the FLCL manga adaptation by Hajime Ueda and Makoto Yukimura's Planetes (which won the prestigious Seiun Award for best Science Fiction series).
Even then, though, TokyoPop sort of borked the releases. The art reproduction wasn't especially good (they might not have been scanned from the original art) and the lettering on both books were substandard, and the lettering on Planetes was especially atrocious. Fortunately, Dark Horse has acquired the rights to both titles and have released updated editions with better art reproduction and significantly better lettering.
