I'm sure I don't speak for /co/.
But it was OK to me. I think they kind of fumbled around aging everyone appropriately. I don't just mean in looks but also just showing people have grown or changed since the last time we saw them.

And just personally I don't think Jubilee should have been in it at all.

But I think since then, even her supporters have gotten enough of her BS.

It was as about as good as I expected of Hollywood. A couple fun bits surrounded by a bunch of bog-standard Hollywood writing.

I got my quicksilver montage which is all I ever really wanted. After it ended I was like "well, don't need to see the rest."

Not as good as the DOFP scene though.

>>
>>83299135

>>
>>83299090
The series needs time off and a reboot. Fox probably can't afford to do that since the rights would probably revert to Marvel if they went too long, and I don't really want Marvel to have them either because I like it better when the X-Men are separate from the rest of the Marvel universe and you just know they'd be incorporated into the MCU.

But really, one way or another, the series just needs to end, take a break for a few years, and start fresh. Get some new producers, new director, new writers, new cast.
>>
>>83299090
I'm bored of the these movies not stretching their creative wings. They're dealing with a world in which people with powers of amazing variety live and yet so little time is spent really taking liberty with that. It's analogous to animated sitcoms like Family Guy. You have a medium to express all sorts of crazy shit and instead you pump out something that might as well be live action. What a waste.
>>
>>83299090
This. It took this long in the series to get Sentinels and Apocalypse and I cant even bring myself to care about them or Mister Sinister for that matter. Each movie comes out and it never feels like anything has progressed.

>>83299205
>X Men team never feels complete or at least what it should be
This is a big part of the problem for me- even the good movies don't really feel like they're about the team. It's always one or two central characters, and the rest of the team is just kind of there as backup (sometimes not even that), with some members having no role in the story except to show of their powers once are twice (and even then, sometimes not even that). There's never any real sense that this is a team.
>>
>>83299205
This.
No matter what happens, it always ends with
>THE NEXT MOVIE IS GOING TO BE THE ULTIMATE X-MEN MOVIE
It's as if the entire franchise was build up for something that never happens, and what they need to build up doesn't get any mention.

I mean, the ending of X-Men 3 was pretty much ignored and the DOFP dystopic future came out of fucking nowhere, with only one reference in the The Wolverine post-credits.
>>
>>83299222

It's funny because apparently Wolverine 3 happens in a dystopic future too.

I don't know what's up with Singer straight up ignoring plot points from other movies, it's as if he just doesn't care much about the plot.

DOFP's ending with Stryker having yellow eyes is completely ignored in Apocalypse.

Uhhh, they JUST did that, two movies ago.

They just need to stop letting Singer make these. Like there's 6 X-men movies now. The ones not directed by him where terrible (Ratner) and pretty great (Vaughn) good. The ones he did direct range from meh-tier to shit-tier. So... they let him make the last two and guess what we got, a sorta of Meh movie and now a shit one.

Wow, I am so surprised. Who could have possibly predicted this impossible to foresee chain of shocking events?
>>
>>83301564

>>
>>83301564
>Uhhh, they JUST did that, two movies ago.
I wouldn't fall First Class a reboot at all. Even DoFP, which hits a reset button on the timeline, is still barely a reboot since it's still heavily chained to what happened in the movies before it.

A complete reboot would be wiping the slate entirely.
>>
>Deadpool cameo
>Pietro and Wade are sitting on a bench somewhere

>"........dude what."
>"Uh...well.....nevermind. Cable and Deadpool, everyone. Get hype."
>>
>>83301726
Yeah, the series has been doing soft reboots, where the previous movies still matter to some degree but the events aren't being focused on.

Even with the time reset in DOFP, the series is still governed by stuff like "X character was established to be Y years old in movie Z" and such. Events have been erased but a lot of the setting and characters are still bound by things established in those movies, so you can't even say that the timeline reset made them irrelevant.
>>
>>83299180
>I like it better when the X-Men are separate from the rest of the Marvel universe and you just know they'd be incorporated into the MCU

While I prefer Marvel's movies overall...I agree with this. X-men barely make any sense in the Marvel Comics universe as it is.

Plus, Marvel's movies all feel kind of same-y. I'm hoping that having a 3rd capeshit series running would allow for some kind of variation.
>>
>>83301546
>It's quite suspicious how there's no Scarlet Witch in Apocalypse

I mean...if we're to believe that her being Magneto's daughter is canon in this universe...she could've been the little girl that was killed off
>>
>>83302092
Quicksilver has two sisters in DOFP, one shown but not named, and another one mentioned in the Rogue Cut, where the unnamed sister says she bothers her.
>>
>>83299664
That's his point.
>>
Aside from the "they should give the rights back to marvel" faggotry the main complaints about the movie was simply too much focus on X, Magneto and Mystique and not enough of the new mutants, the horseman or Apocalypse himself.

They played it safe and that winded up biting them in the ass.

1. There are zero consequences for what Magneto did. After everything is said and done, Xavier still offers him a place at the school instead of doing something about the MILLIONS of people he killed, as well as the damage he did to the societies around the world.

Should have turned Magneto into a full villain or at least used a different mutant and Magneto only making a brief cameo.

2. Apocalypse was shown to have insane powers to melt beings instantly, and what does he do during that needlessly long laser show at the end? Nothing. Hell, he could have just vaporized the X-Men at the very beginning of the final fight.

3. So many mutants underutilized. Jubilee, for example.

4. Too much JLaw.

5. Humor when there shouldn't have been much. Stan Lee cameo during the nukes, which deflated the impact of the scene. Also Quicksilver's scene at the school, while easily the best thing in the movie, deflated the death of Havoc.

This. I LOVED the x-kids. Cyke, Nightcrawler, Jean, Peter, all of them. I wanted Jubilee to get more screentime, too, because her two or three exchanges with Cyclops made her out to be a cool wingman/catty best friend type to him.

I was way too fatigued on Xavier/Magneto/Mystique by this point. I was sick of Mystique after the first fucking X-men movie when she came out looking like a lizard. But now Magneto's caused global genocide like three times over and we still just let him go because he decided not to - not that he even seems to feel particularly bad about it! That's kind of fucked up to me.

I want these characters - the young x-men - to have a movie that actually focuses on them. But I worry they've made it so they can't do that anymore. I hope I'm wrong and I hope they've learned all the right lessons from all this. That's all I can do at this point.

Soooo this is just my thought process mind you, but i'm pretty sure the after credits scene is setting us up for X-23 in future movies. I know it's saying Sinister is going to show up, and he has nothin to do with her in the comics. Hydra etc etc, but thing is they can't really use Hydra in the fox movies as far as i know, and Sinister's backstory is already going to be different from comics anyway, and Hugh Jackman wants out/ is getting old. Its cheesy fun, way better than bvs.

Still a piece of garbage, and not good by film standards.

Good enough for casuals and normies.
>>
Weird casting choices, terrible jean grey...casting has been weird since the reboot.

Maybe im just biased againgst Sansa.

I don't like Singer and I haven't seen Apok, but X1, X2 and DOFP are all better than FC.
I really don't understand how that movie has so many fans. The plot is dumb (especially how Chuck gets crippled), the acting is mostly trash outside of Fassbender and McAvoy, Shaw and his cronies sucked, the effects are 20th century tier, it set up Mystique as central to the later conflicts, and worst of all it's really really boring.

I like the concept idea of setting it in the 60s, changing the O5 is alright (although basically undone by the next movie), as is having Mags start out as a relatively good guy, there's some decent casting/acting here and there, but that's about it.

No you're correct.

wasn't made by a committee of disney execs

So same issue as the older movies except Wolvie>>>Mystique.

>Mystique disguised as Striker dredged up Wolverine at the end of DoFP. Why did the real striker have him in this?
Pretty sure that's a straight-up continuity error. They had her rescue him in DOFP to imply Origins doesn't happen, except they didn't actually want Bonesverine in the long run so they had to forget about that.
>>
>>83305564
I found her okay. Hank is the terrible one though.
>>
>>83305709
Is was made by a committee of Fox execs, what's your point?
That's how major blockbusters work, the only reason it wasn't the case for Deadpool was the low budget.
>>
>>83305789
I haven't watch Apok yet but I thought he was alright in the previous 2. His Beast form just looks like ass.
>>
>>83296507
>you're a homo that sucks.

Isn't that implicit?
>>
>>83301308
>-I think Days of Future Past retconned X2.
DoFP retconned all original X-Men movies.
>>
>>83297883
She's pretty much X-men's Felicity now.
>>
So can anyone tell me what Tauntaun's mutant powers were?
>>
i've only seen a cam copy of this so maybe something was cut out, but how did quicksilver know to go under the mansion as the explosion was happening?
>>
>>83306446

so when's Magneto getting the Brotherhood back together

I wanna see Toad again
>>
>>83306521
Presumably he can still hear explosions when moving at superspeed.
>>
>>83306527
>I wanna see Toad again
I had to think if Toad appeared. Yeah, he did in DoFP in Vietnam, along with Havok and guy with tattoos.

I still think that killing Havok, a mutant that have powers to absorb energy, was dumb.
>inb4Sinister will clone him too, but younger, so Singer will be able to introduce twink Havok
>>
>>83298934
I mean, the song does describe a lot of En Sabah Nur's themes n shit.
>>
>>83297883
It was so bizarre seeing everyone telling Mystique of all people "Youre my Hero!"

Even immediately after Quicksilver saves everyone they do it.
>>
>>83306595
>I still think that killing Havok, a mutant that have powers to absorb energy, was dumb.
This is the same movie franchise that killed Darwin, the character whose sole power is "adapt so I won't be killed".

Basically if you're not Xavier or Magneto chances are you're fucked.
>>
>Quicksilver mentioned in DoFP directly to Dadneto that his mom knew someone who could control metal
>After he himself realized who his father is he's reluctant to say anything about it to him, even though giving him something after he lost his Polish family probably would have made him help the X-Men sooner than he did

They're gonna keep playing off this dynamic until either Erik or Peter die aren't they
>>
>>83306658
If I would be given a task to retcon Havok's death in next movie, I would make it so that Darvin was energy being since that time that was attached to Havok. Boom, both deaths retconned at the same time in next movie.

All for the sake of Havok and Cyke vs Emperor Vulcan.

Jennifer lawrence playing as Katniss Everdeen in an X-Men film

Best was probably Quicksilver, or the scene with Cerebro

this scene, it was incredibly stupid
I even came up with a better scenario for this scene
ok, so neto's kid gets shot and dies, his wife asks "stop this pain, NOW" and looks into his eyes, he knows what he must do, and starts killing the guards, he goes up to his wife holding their dead offspring, rain starts to pour down, they are crying on the inside but there's only silence and sobbing... following this embrace, his wife just repeats slowly "please.. stop... this... pain... now", the camera pans out as he lifts up the locket with his magnetic powers and repeats once again the sound that we heard when he stroke down the guards... finally we see his wife fall to his arms, magneto just lets out a mournful scream "why"

>biggest emotional moment for Magneto's character where he finally turns to the light side for good that we've been waiting for for 16 fucking years
>Quicksilver actually has some emotional motivation for once rather than just being an apathetic NEET loser
>he bottles telling him he's his son because Bryan "The Man With The Plan To Get Little Boys In His Van" Singer wants to le save it for le sequel and fumbles the most important moment of the franchise

FUCK OOOOOOOOOOFFFFFF

the cops should have killed her on purpose to stop the bird attack, it was just kind of awkward that one of them kills her by accident and then mags goes full chris dorner anyway

It's a Deus Ex Machina. He's going there to learn about his dad, and just happens to arrive just as Havok accidentally blows up the mansion.

I would complain, but they had a "Satan Ex Machina" immediately beforehand, so I guess it balances out? I still have no idea how Havok accidentally the entire building, but it was only written in so we'd get a useful Quicksilver scene.
>>
>>83308878
>It's a Deus Ex Machina
No, it's not Deus Ex Machina, go read a book and stop using that term without knowledge.
