You heard the batman, work on your art
Guys, how does one into 30 second sketches? I know I shouldn't panic after just 1 hour, but I can put down about 2 lines, maybe 3, before the time is up.
Like, I already loose about 2-3 seconds realizing it's time to start again, then 3-4 more seconds deciding where is enough space on the paper to draw (or turning to a new page), and then I only have 20-something seconds to actually take in the picture and draw something.
General time management suggestions? Also, some examples would be appreciated. I'm curious how others do it, and how much can be done in such a short time.

start off just doing stick figures in that postion
once you can do stick figures in 30s (shouldn't take long), move on to tube skeletons
keep working your way up through the layers of abstraction, the 'lesson' isn't about just drawing as much as you can in a short time, but learning how to convey as much detail as you can in as few lines as possible

Thanks for the suggestions, anon. I'll start with stick figures and go from there then. I fucking love doing landscapes and plant studies, but figure drawing is way beyond me. I have no idea what the fuck am I doing.
On an unrelated note, I always loved the simple toning they often use in architectural drawing, but never seen any materials that tell you the basics. I'm fairly good with grayscale, but never learned to work with only a handful of simple colors.

What do you all like to do for quick background? Not even land or rooms, just something to fill the space?
I wanted to thank people for the responses to my robot dudes last thread but when I woke up today it was dead, whoops.
Here's a fairy girl I've been doodling a lot recently. I should start participating in these more.

Cheapest cop-out: Gradient Background

I think those can work, so log as you put some ground in for the character to stand on. Floating looks weird with a gradient.
My last piece.
