So I'm really out of the loop with DC at the moment (I heard it got rebooted again and Watchmen are part of the new continuity?) but what the unholy fuck is this shit about 3 Jokers? The last DC book I read was Endgame and they'd already attempted a Joker twist. Why do another one?

It wasn't rebooted. The New 52 is pre Flashpoint DC but with time removed. The only things different going forward are Wally is back as is post crisis Superman. As far as we know only Manhattan is in main continuity and we don't know what's going on with the three Jokers yet but it's obviously going to be more than it seems

No reboot, just some major retcons.
The New 52 was retconned to be the same universe as pre-New 52 DC except with different continuity due to some asshole having altered the universe (but again, not actually making a new universe).
Wally West is back for real. A few other legacy characters are returning. Superman is back.. The REAL Superman. Watchmen is a separate universe in the DC Multiverse, but now they're crossing over into the regular DC Universe. There may or may not be multiple Jokers now, we don't know.

Because Joker has a wide variety of interpretations ranging from the murderer killer maniac to the wacky and funny deathtrap joker. With three jokers, this allows writers the chance to use a different joker for every situation without having to constantly change the personality of one joker from book to book.
DC's new mantra is story over continuity so with three jokers, we're going to see better stories than having continuity to worry about.

Rebirth only has one issue. That's it. They put out a "special" one-shot to introduce the retcons and that's literally the whole thing. No miniseries, no "event", no cash grab, just a simple retcon. It'll be permanent unless it flops.
If the 3 Jokers are true it's those specific ones, wouldn't that mean Batman encoutered the same red hood twice?
