I very much agree. The TTGO cast
are nothing more than shallow, flandarized caricatures of their former selves, and they even admit this. With Sonic Boom however, this really isn't that much of a drastic deviation of their original personalities. The problem with ShtH and '06 is their terrible writing, cringe-worthy stories, and the fact that they take themselves TOO seriously. I think 3 and 4 are really the only episodes that weren't really good and even then they did have some good jokes in them. I think it's mostly that it really doesn't dawn on you just how few fucks are given until later. By the time you're watching Knuckles become a celebrity by wearing a bent trashcan as a hat or Sonic and Knuckles trying to win a new couch to replace Amy's after they spilled nacho cheese on it, you just know that they presented a bunch of episode ideas to a focus group and went with all the rejected ones. And that's fucking great.

I remember making a green text story about how Wily would team up with Boom Eggman and Sigma would team up with Regular Eggman.
Since Wily was too humane and Eggman was too sadistic in Worlds Collide for them to work together, they'd team up with villains even more evil and more goofy, respectively. But in the end, Sigma is too evil and Boom Eggman is too ineffective, and they realize that the only partners they'll ever have... is each other.
