I think, for a reader, it's more meaningful if his actions appear to change Homestuck, rather than being another thing that was always going to happen.
There's an argument to be made about whether it's important that a reader gets the full experience, or that John changes the actual Homestuck permanently and irreversibly. Then again I guess the "full experience" would mean reading a few panels a day at random, then waiting three years to finish.

I think Blood the Aspect is for people who feel like they don't belong and don't want to be excluded.
