here's an idea. they're the same joker. original joker, post-crisis, and new 52 are three jokers that are separated by major continuity events. what if joker and the other joker are able to escape being altered in some form thanks to his hyper-sanity shit that morrison gave him. so each event joker survives in the same joker as a new personality of sorts.
