Every remotely sane person will tell you that rape is bad no matter what the gender of the people involved is.
And the Batgirl outrage was not about rape, it was about tone and context, but that has been explained 500 times and people still don't get it.
The people you're thinking of will not care or somehow turn it into yet another slight against that most oppressed of all creatures, the modern 1st world college aged feminist.
Its as awful a subject for a comic book as male on female rape because comic writers don't have the space to go into the story in the depth it deserves. A rape story that isn't just cheap misery porn needs to be introspective, to explore the violation and a comic needs to MOVE.

That was also part of the problem, that it was the only creepy/evil cover in the mix while all the others were just jokes. If there was one with Jason that was kind of morbid people probably don't make such a big deal out of the Babs one (some would still complain of course).

A comic can be introspective, even a normally more action oriented one, but I've yet to see a rape plot in a cape book that does this or otherwise makes me think, "They could only have explored this territory by having a character raped."
