but thats the thing though, the Jew were scapegoated, but they werent JUSt scapegoated. they were made the ultimate enemy, Impurity. which fed into the "superior race" rhetoric when was then handed down and used as a weapon against others. thing like the holocaust were part of the reason the Nazi regime worked, they weren't just a machine of war or economics, they could always back themselves with a moral superiority of eliminating what was ideologically wrong, in their eyes at least.
and at some point the ones who told it DID belive the lie. you have to, after a lie becomes so big if you yourself done believe it you'll be the weak point from which it crumbles. but most of course deep down knew the rhetoric was all BS.
