Since we're always praising everything about the movie, what did you NOT like about it?
>>
>>82818748
The amount of furries it created.
>>
>>82818748
Gazelle. If she just sang, I'd have been fine with it, but having her give that speech with her horrible fucking voice was unnecessary. Bitch didn't even try.
>>
Never found an excuse to go to that giant palm tree casino looking building that they showed in so much of the promotional art.
>>
>>82818748

I don't like the apollogy scene of Judy. It felt forced and unessesary melodramatic.

The sloths scene was boring in the trailer and it already stopped me from watching the movie.

Gazelle and her song

The 9001th everybody dances ending.
>>
>>82818748

that one awkward cut when they fall out of the pipe and into the river.

we see them fall out, we see them screaming as they fall, then we just get Nick swimming around calling for Judy. There's no bit of them actually hitting the water and it's really weird to watch because of that.
>>
>>82818748
Gazelle & the song felt *really* forced.

The song's musical style was too "current" to, I think, really hold up with time, and it just wasn't very good. The whole "try everything" message falls flat because it's just too direct & not very deep, and overall most scenes with Gazelle felt awkward & out of place.

The Macro pandering chase scene.
Because there's no way that wasn't intentional.
>>
>>82819178
Went to see Zootopia 4 times. Never saw a furry in any kind of costume. Not even cat ears or anything. Saw a couple guys I figured were probably furfags, but they were in street clothes.
>>
>>82818748
The ending felt a bit underwhelming. I liked Judy and Nick's little play, but at the same time the bad guys were caught too quickly, I feel. But whatever

Oh, and I couldn't stand Shakira. Nothing wrong with fictional versions of real life pop stars, but when they showed her as an activist with the inspirational speech and all it was so cringey. Reminded me of situations like that Mercenaries actor forcing the director to make him officially a good guy (despite being a villain for most of the movie) or he'd bail out of the project

It is too close of a fanart movie, the creators had an opportunity to do a 100% original content but instead brought nick color design too close of robon hood, and judy of brer rabbit
Also the politically correct plot. I prefer the original take by a long margin

Bellweathers' reveal was sudden and the story was noticeably time constrained. Another 10 minutes dedicated to fleshing out her and the sheep supremacists' motivations were direly needed, as well as more of the city devolving into racial chaos.

>>82821580
the movie can be read as anti-tumblrina with very little effort.

predators = men with inbuilt desire to rape. used to freely rape women but then civilization happened
bellweather = sjw who wants to destroy the social status of men by fearmongering.

i'm not saying this is literally what was intended, because what was intended is a movie about animals. mapping it onto human prejudices misses the point.

The climax needed more time on the cooking machine; it all went too fast from the moment they arrived at the "meth lab". Bellwether could have used a backstory, she was just another Hans. Heres a big plot point that bothers me.
The "city cameras". If there are cameras recording everything, why didnt the police used them before Judy came along to see where the missing animals went?
There's a picture of the otter before his dissapareance. Was it taken with the cameras? Didnt they also record everything that happened later? With that fucking cameras the movie could've been solved in 5 minutes. Why would they add such an idiotic element? It ruins the entire plot.
S

Ugh, Sausage Party.

I really didn't like how the movie spent its entire runtime talking about stereotypes, perceptions, and prejudice in about as smart a way as a movie aimed at children is allowed to, but then at the end they gave all the ram henchmen funny looking eyes on the sides of their heads that none of the other animals had.

For a film about subverting prejudices, intentionally making the henchmen look weird so that they're visually offputting as a shorthand for them being bad guys feels both counter-intuitive and really lazy.
>>
cam rips bother me. cant find a decent quality copy anywheres
>>
>>82824180
Most of the movies plot can be solved in less than 5 minutes, see Civil War, BvS, etc.

You have a valid point but, if this is a mayor/Bellwether plan, they probably delete evidence, only bellwether show manchas's capture because all it was part of his keikaku ("keikaku" means plans).
>>
>>82819254

Everything from Frozen looked disgusting partially due to horrible animation, moe anime tier character design and awful meme music.

Also if this one is literally 48 hours, sequel should be Cobra.
>>
>>82824700
If they don't show evidence about it, doesn't mean police didn't try. Also, Wolves are very tricksters, Judy lost them in the security cameras, but Nick know about illegal way to prevent security cameras, wolves doing it this and with help from mayor and bellwether make it possibly.

I just mention Civil War and BvS as recent examples, but you can take any movie and found contradictions and plot holes, again, I love Back to the Future but it have many plot holes, but many people love it anyway, and I still enjoy it, same with Zootopia.

Also, it's a freaking kids movie, your point is valid, but you don't need to take it seriously or get mad about a children film.
>>
>>82824923
Are you anons this desperate to yiff the fox you'll consume anything with the movie's logo on?
>>
>>82825007
Nick knew about illegal way to prevent security cameras: that saved them some time, but it's not like they couldnt just see every tape until finding the car again. Judy and Nick had a time limit-- the other cops didnt.
If the cameras existed-- the cops should've forced Bellwether to show them the recordings. Everything indicates that they SAW the recordings-- because there was a picture of the otter before he went missing! So how is it that they didnt crack the case in a single day? It doesnt make sense within the movie.
I know it's a kids movie, but it has logic, it's not a bunch of random colours and noise. It tries to tell a story-- and it fails terribly because Disney cant write for shit. Makes more sense than Frozen, at least.

This. And that they were angry at each other. It's so cliche at this point and I've seen it a million times. It doesn't make any sense that every movie has this scene where they become unfriends and then they make up 5 minutes later. I mean shit, friends fight all the time but they don't go their separate ways over nothing.
>>
>>82825115
>So how is it that they didnt crack the case in a single day? It doesnt make sense within the movie.
>A single day
How many camera do you think there are in all Zootopia? How many police officer do you think ZPD have? Even in real world it's imposible to have total control of the security cameras, it's very hard just to find a single missing person, even with high technology there is a lot of crimes still happen, security camera needs humans behind it you talk about logic but doesn't make sense that you want to solve this case in a freaking single day. And let's no talk about corruption because the mayor and Bellwether was hide info all the time, probably they delete important camera records.

Zootopia isn't a flawless movie, but take in mind the film suffered a lot of plot changes, it's a miracle the movie works so well, even they don't like the rupture scene between Judy and Nick.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hiu3qJi0aPY
>>
>>82825115
They didn't know where or when he went missing, and the cameras probably didn't give 100% coverage even in town- as soon as you're not sure exactly where he was at an exact time, there just becomes too much info to be able to go through it all and actually get anything out of it, especially since there are ways to dodge cameras/you can't see people in the backs of cars.

>it's a miracle the movie works so well
This is a mayor studio movie we're talking about. Stop talking about it like it is your friend's college project. They CAN and SHOULD review the story to avoid such mistakes.
Even if reviewing the tapes takes a month of work, NO ONE did it in the entire movie until Nick suggested it. I may have exaggerated with the "a single day" remark, but the "5 movie minutes" still stands.

>>82825593
Yes, they know where and when he was last seen. They could've used the cameras that recorded that exact spot and see what happened to him. They didnt need to search the whole city, just the spot that they already knew he was last seen and work from there. It worked for seeing a specific bit of the rainy jungle, it would've worked even better for the center of the city.
>>
>>82825698
The issue being that once he walks off one camera you'd be stuck going "which of the eight ones around here will he be on next? What if he dodges one of those and appears next on one relatively far away? What if he stops somewhere for a while- when do I assume I've missed him moving and go back to comb through the crowds again? What if he gets in a car off camera?" etc, etc. If it was the only thing the police were doing that whole time then maybe they'd have the resources, but there were a ton of other missing persons cases. It didn't even seem like they had enough personnel to assign anyone specifically to the otter.

The fact that the wolves grabbing Manchas happened on a camera was a big lucky coincidence which was one of my issues with the film, doubly since nobody else even looked before Judy and Nick, believe her story or not, and following a car on a road is way easier than some (small) guy in a city.
>>
>>82825698
>This is a mayor studio movie we're talking about. Stop talking about it like it is your friend's college project.
What is deadline? You just can't request more time in this kind of business only for "check this movie don't have any flaw", they sure review the film, but they don't gonna change the whole movie for tiny details. Also you are just pointing a minor flaws, you are taking this to seriously, is not like this ruins the movie, but if this ruin the whole movie for you, I just feel bad for you anon.

And you still think the cameras can solve the whole case faster, even with clues and the cameras, you just can't find missing people that fast, anon here >>82825593 and I already tell you cameras can't cover all the city (and again, ignore Mayor/Bellwether influece in the case) . In real life, even in cities with a lot of security cameras you can't prevent crime and find everyone, with you logic Why a kids films should find missing people faster just with clues and security cameras when in real life this isn't even that easy?
>>
>>82825998
In real life, yeah, cameras are not a handy way to solve crimes and they take hundreds of hours of work. In the world of Zootopia, however, we saw easy-to-use, HD cameras that perfectly capture the ciy.
They got the wolves grabbing Manchas and the WHOLE trip their car did with the exception of a tiny tunnel. That they could get that in a few minutes but couldnt use it to track any other missing person is bullshit.

>>82826081
>they don't gonna change the whole movie for tiny details
Asking for the movie to make sense is not that big deal. Putting a case-solver in a movie about solving a crime is not a tiny detail either.
This doesnt ruin the movie, it just adds to the mediocrity it has in general. Althought that's another debate.

>>
>>82818748
I think the nudist place was unnecessary and only put in to get more furries. Also Gazelle's singing was bad and she's only there to gather ass-loving furries. But it's not just her singing either, I mean, when you get off a train/plane to NYC, do you get greeted by a giant electric billboard featuring Lady Gaga saying "I'm Lady Gaga, and welcome to New York"?
>>
>>82826326
>In the world of Zootopia, however, we saw easy-to-use, HD cameras that perfectly capture the ciy.
So, it's ok in real world, but not in Zootopia? The fuck is this logic? And why you think it's easy to use it, and this doesn't men it's easy to find them, if we gonna play with the idea of "because in Zootopia is easy to use a camera" then why not "In Zootopia, finding missing mammals is a hard task for the whole ZPD"?

>Putting a case-solver in a movie about solving a crime is not a tiny detail either.
No, but "Why police couldn't find the mammals first" isn't a big deal, that's why only you complain about it right now.

>This doesnt ruin the movie, it just adds to the mediocrity it has in general.
Oh, I see, you just don't like the movie, that's like you opinion, man.

>>82826691
Then why only ZPD have ZERO clues about the otter? Just one pic from a camera, obviously, yuor "easy to use cameras" thing can't record the otter in the limo or with the nudist animals.
>>
>>82826691
I think Manchas being on camera for that was bullshit though. I'd rather the movie just have one situation that was way to easy to fix thanks to the cameras. Otterton being found like that wouldn't make things better because of consistency, it would just add more bullshit.

But if you accept the Manchas stuff, then it's still just them getting super lucky. The same luck wasn't there for finding the otter.

We saw how easy the cameras were to manipulate when Judy and Nick used them. We also saw how competent and logic the people in this world is. That they couldnt find the mammals is a fuck-up of the writers.

>Why police couldn't find the mammals first" isn't a big deal
It's actually the whole point of the movie. Is what proves Judy to be a true policeman. It's the whole plot. And it only works if you ignore the cameras that recorded every kidnapping.

>Then why only ZPD have ZERO clues about the otter?
Because the cops never went to see the traffic cameras, wich is my problem from the beggining.
>>
>>82826830
I don't think the nudist stuff was necessarily pandering. Animated kids movies put in nudity/shit jokes when they have animals to work with because it gets the "haha, fart joke" reaction from kids but isn't 2lewd since there aren't human bits.

Kind of makes it feel dated now. Shakira isn't very relevant, especially not with little kids and she isn't a strong enough voice actor to carry the character- no Robin Williams Genie. I guess that makes it better that she does almost nothing the whole film, though.

At least they didn't go full-on "make a ton of pop culture references as jokes." There were a few in there like with the DVDs, but nothing that felt over the top.
>>
>>82827013
We saw how easy the cameras were to manipulate when Judy and Nick used them. We also saw how competent and logic the people in this world is. That they couldnt find the mammals is a fuck-up of the writers
Easy to manipulate cameras doesn't matter if there aren't enough clues and staff to use them properly, and if there aren't enough cameras, it doesn't work because they can´t find the missings mammals, I already told you this when I say security cameras can't cover everything

>Because the cops never went to see the traffic cameras, wich is my problem from the beggining.
You are just overthinking it to much, yes the police is incompetent and/or can't find mammals early, and only Judy can, but you still ignore other factors, like the corruption and mayor and bellwether influence, heck, probably Bellwether helps to hide evidence and only allow Judy to find the truth because 1) This affect Lionheart 2) Makes little preys like she and Judy looks cool and 3) Start the Predator/Pray conflict with fear.

But of course, if you ignore Bellwether, it only sounds like a weak plot where ZPD is incompetent and Judy saves the day.

I didn't like that we only saw mammals. Reptiles and birds would have been cool, reptiles especially. One thing that I find is always a shame, with 3D films, is that the concept art always looks so nice, with vivid colors, artstyles that really "pop" visually in an extremely satisfying way, and the CGI always ends up looking kinda disappointing in comparison.
>>
>>82818748
It was a really cool idea wasted on soapbox dialogue. If it had just been an animal buddy cop movie where they learned to respect eachother it would have been great.

But it's like someone looked at a bunch of point in the script and demanded that the writers remind the audience the movie was about racism.

- Not long enough. Everything felt rushed.

- Gazelle as a whole.

- Main villain's reveal.

- Judy's apology scene.

- Fox repellent only briefly addressed.

- Stupid fucking dance party to a stupid song that was shoehorned into the movie.

- Not enough character building outside of Judy, namely Nick. I get that she's the main character, but the supporting cast was pretty good, too.

The traffic cam can't even tell you that the otter was last seen in the nudist camp. There aren't that many cams I guess.

Though the fact that there is a convenient traffic cam at the cable car entrance is too convenient.

Anyway all these would lead to the inevitable question of how Lionheart's dogs caught all animals before the news broke out

It seems the only way they can do that is to have a behavior recognition program in a centralized CCTV system
>>
>>82827462
Yeah man I agree with you

The whole "only Judy and Nick can find them" thing is really too impossible when ZPD is shown to have so much tech, manpower and time. It would be like Judy fighting a team of rhinos and still win.

I get what the other guy was saying "Judy is a true policeman" but to have one person outperform the system so much is unreasonable.

But I didn't spot this problem in theater though. Guess I am not a logical person
>>
>>82834110
Lionheart probably had mammals spy through the traffic cams as well. I can only imagine he had a system set up as soon as it became regular.
>>
>>82834110
Maybe Bellwether started with targeting predators where they were unlikely to be seen, and would somehow anonymously tip Lionheart off? He would probably start having people monitor the traffic cams shortly after that and handle things without her intervention could also be why none of the missing animals were found with the cams- Lionheart either blocked access or faked tapes for areas where the predators went savage.

After Lionheart is successfully screwed, she starts going after animals in public places so they attack others, so it isn't like she couldn't have done that and made it public knowledge earlier if she wanted to.
>>
>>82834552
Predator spies I imagine. So the predators have a secret party within the city. Guess sheeps weren't the only ones making plans

Again this leads to the question of what a ballsy villain Bellwether was and how she was underused. The taller you have to build Lionheart you must build Bellwether even taller.
>>
The question is, how likely is this to kill the Lion?

Also how come Lion King did so well yet only got a direct to video sequel?
>>
>>82835359
Not very, since a lot of theaters have started to drop it.

And it's because Disney hasn't been big on feature film sequels in the past, and would just pass off bigger franchises to shit studios to crank out some garbage instead.

Nick has too much complexity and Gideon too little. I'd like to see the relationship stem from rivalry and true personal differences rather than prejudice, because that would be realistic.
>>
>>82841690
Expect to get a lot of hate.

But I don't disagree. Their arcs together mesh pretty well. They start innocent, get muzzled, become an asshole to Judy. Then the timeskip happens and it explains why they are such a cunt to Judy for so long. The movie progresses, they're shown as good people and settle in the cop position at the end.

They'd either need to use Gideon's design or a hybrid between the two of them, since Nick never has enough size to make it work.
>>
>>82842011
I had someone shove my face into the dirt and throw my gymnastics medal into the sewer for having buck teeth. Then someone threw my bike into the same sewer because I ran from him when he chased me, I sucked.
>>
>>82818748
There's only one thing that soured the movie for me.

Judy ran away from her responsibilities, and only came back when she happened upon the silver bullet that would solve all the problems.

I would have much, much preferred it if she had made up the resolution to go back to the city before she discovered the nighthowlers.

As is, I'll never know if Judy would have been strong enough to get back up after falling and failing.
>>
>>82842026
The hybrid would work. The rivalry would turn into love a la Leia and Han. The prejudice would be broken down over time instead of a shoehorned "Btw some people feel bad about being raycis" 2 minute scene that ends up just shitting on people in the south who make our wonderful corn.
>>
>>82842143
>only came back when she happened upon the silver bullet that would solve all the problems.

>>82842234

>>
>>82842143
Good point. Doing it the way that they did didn't detract from my enjoyment of the movie, but that would have been nice to see.

Hopefully any sequel will have the conflict resolved through strength of will instead of random revelations.

>>82842189

Just saw the movie today. Loved it. However there is something that I realized was missing from the film after watching it. Where are the reptiles and birds? All the animals in mammals were mammals. Were mammals the only animals who evolved and gained intelligence while the rest stayed in their savage states? Are those savage animals eaten as food?

Now let me be clear: I still loved the film. And what I wrote up there isn't really criticism. It's more like they're questions the film posed (perhaps unintentionally) that I would like answered.

They intentionally only had mammals in the movie. Originally birds/reptiles were explicitly unintelligent and used as food but they removed it so they didn't pigeonhole themselves for a possible sequel.

IMO its better that its just mammals, if it was ALL animals it would just be another generic 'talking animal movie' like KFP, but by limiting it to mammals it feels more bounded and 'real'

The only real complaint I have was that they had to wave the blueberries in your face a second time right before the big "oh no is Judy kill?" scene.
In my opinion the exchange in the car was a perfect and subtle set up. But the second they dropped them in the museum I immediately thought "oh of course he's gonna replace the Nighthowler bullets", and I heard at least 4 other people in the theatre whisper the same thing. If they had left that out, I don't think anyone in the audience wouldn't have understood it.

Shakira's character was supposed to originally have a much more critical role.

Like she was supposed to be some sort of rebellious activist according to the artbook, and near the climax of the story was supposed to perform with tiger backup dancers as the ultimate show of defiance.

Of course this was back in the original universe which was basically an apartheid hellhole.

The only thing I dislike about it is the city itself is largely unexplored in the movie. The train scene showcases the wonderful variety of the different districts, but what we see of them is fairly underwhelming. The scenes in Tundratown were for the most part in the back of a limousine or at Mr. Big's mansion, Sahara Square was just another city block, and the only district we really got our teeth into was the Rainforest District with the Mr. Manchas chase scene.

I would love a sequel for the chance to explore more of the city and really soak in the scenery.
