Hello everyone, today we are going into a comic made by the creator of the comic Endtown.

This comic was made long before Endtown but is cited by the author as having much to do with it's backstory.

Join me as we read and I point out information taken far too seriously.

This comic takes place after Aaron's other comics Albert and Daycare. Both were basic gag-a-page newstrips.

Indy, iirc, is the child that spawned Marx as an imaginary friend.

And here is futureman. At least he surived.

So in regards to the Endtown comic this implies afew things:
>MAAARX!
>Apparently everything wasn't destroyed, just alot of everythings.
>Melodie and Marx likely were divorced after this blunder or died.
>The Dead's don't necessarily want to save the universe but would settle with just making sure their dimension is safe.
>Marx tends to screw things up so much that killing him isn't considered murder but preemptive self defense.

Thanks for reading!
>>
bunp, thanks for posting budday
>>
>>82785386
This is a 1950's retrofuture setting, though. And in the 50's, $10,000 was plenty of money.
>>
Interesting. I guess that explains where the dark theme of Endtown comes from.

Makes me wonder how many times Marx has hopped to a new dimension to fuck with Albert and Gustine again.

Well according to Aaron, the Endtown incarnations of them don't know him.

But yeah, this just goes to show that Marx is a shit-tier character any way you slice it.

Also that Aaron has improved immeasurably as a character and plot writer since his college days.

>>82785412
This little kid totally became the Oracle or something.

>>82785477
Reminder that Aaron most likely worked Ted and the collapse of the Albert reality into Endtown as Eye/I's origin story. Pic related.
>>
>>82785867
>>Melodie and Marx likely were divorced after this blunder or died.

I would guess that Melodie died and Marx found himself with everyone else at the Crossroads, where he then either escaped using his tunnelling ability or was forced to atone for being a mass-murderer by whatever power controls that realm.

Also he's a fucking sociopath and doesn't care a jot for anyone outside his "in group".
>>
>>82786723
Yeah, IIRC he's kind of retconned things so that "Albert" took place in one of the middle-class areas of its own version of Neitherland. That way he can have stuff that looks like our world (which is what the general populace experienced) and the 50's style supertech stuff, which is what the upper-classes of the Neitherlandian populace were privileged to have.

I really feel like he should have just used his old stuff as a rough inspiration and not committed himself to tying Endtown to the canon of his older works (and especially not "porting" Marx over, yuck) but it is what it is, and it'll be interesting to see how Aaron addresses his earlier, less accomplished works, if he ever does directly address them in-story - whether he decides to drive through them, or around them, so to speak.
>>
>>82785070
Huh, can't believe I missed that on Aaron's old homepage
>>
>>82786724
>>82786750
>>82786943

Really, reading Endtown and then this is a real trip. What if its true and Marx actually is trying to fix things after screwing up so monumentally? It's almost like Aaron hits that button and he decides to be serious. You'd almost think Endtown is a continuation of this but subtly becomes more self contained as it goes.

>>82787303

Me too. I'd almost think he added it recently or something.
>>
>>82787853
>What if its true and Marx actually is trying to fix things after screwing up so monumentally?

Marx actually seems to be fundamentally broken as a sapient being. Look at his reaction to being reminded he's a mass murderer. The only time he ever showed any real remorse was when his home reality was on the chopping block, and even that could be because it was where all his "nice things" were.

Whether this is A: due to him being a figment of the imagination come to life who sees individual versions of people (and even individual realities) as expendable because, hey, he can just hop a dimensional nanometer sideways and there they, are in existence again or B: whether it's due to Aaron's writing always framing Marx's actions as "he means well" even when he's being socially, interpersonally and even literally existentially toxic because he's had the character since Middle School and can no longer view him objectively due to sentiment, is up in the air.

I suspect either way that Marx is being forced to atone by a power behind the Crossroads, probably by being denied reincarnation with his one-dimensional girlfriend until he's unstuck everyone from Eye/I; I seem to recall that there's one bit right after the bullshittery with Flask where the little soul-bubbles forcefully push him away from the stream thing after he's done sending her through it.

>It's almost like Aaron hits that button and he decides to be serious. You'd almost think Endtown is a continuation of this but subtly becomes more self contained as it goes.

Yeah, as was said elsewhere, Aaron says it's all canon, but it kind of feels like Endtown has outgrown its own intended backstory/preceding works. As in, Aaron wants/wanted it to be a big cosmic-fantasy epic with a mysterious backstory linked to and revolving around his older work and favourite character, but that stuff is kind of being overshadowed by the amazing character drama and episodic adventures that far outstrip his older writing.

Tulpa or some weird pet he picked up and which got a bunch of souls stuck to it when the universe collapsed, it looks like.

Funny you should say that, though, because people joke about Marx being Aaron's tulpa.

Same, though, what does that even mean? Why do people think it necessary? Or not just people, but KC. Jamil just chills, and hangs out.
Are you saying the authors, or some dude that draws fanart, decides the way these threads should go?

>>
So... it's been pointedly revealed that the ditto sim is hazardous in the event of car crashes. And it looks like we now have another crashing car in the most recent comic.

Is one of the real people present going to get seriously hurt or even killed, and if so, who?
>>
>>82821272
I doubt it, Wally and co. are positoned in a way that they don't interfer with the illusion. Unless that is the objetive of the one behind the flashback
>>
>>82821465
Well the illusion sure interfered with *them* last time, and they're either inside the car now on the seat next to Holly (which the "camera" seems to be deliberately keeping obscured) or magically flying again, alongside it.

If they are in the car we could be in for trouble.
>>
>>82821272
Wally and Co. are flying, but the Holly in the car is and always has been the real Holly, acting out her old memories under the influence and decoration of the Dittos. She got injured and knocked out when this originally happened and woke up in Endtown after a newly-mutated Doc got her there somehow. This time there's not going to be any one real to take care of her unless Wally and Co. figure this out quick.
>>
>>82821272
Kirbee.

Wally's going to have to choose between taking care of her the way she did for him when he got knocked out, and paying attention to what's happening to Holly. He's going to miss an important detail, and that will cause trouble, but Chic will have seen it and will fill in the blanks for him when he really needs it.

Someone draw Kirbee and Wally sitting in the back, covering Chic's eyes while looking mortified.

Well, in terms of the comic entire, the main time that springs to mind is when JimGod hit her with the "How's the Baby" thing and she then proceeded to bite all his fingers off to save Chic. Probably should have said "Fight or Flight", not "survival instincts".

Honestly, I Marx has never been a bother to me.
The fact that he seems to have his own Agenda is what make him interresting. What does an omnipotent need that he would meddle with mortal. That's an interresting matter and hate me if you want, but the setting of endtown work well for such a conundrum.
>>
>>82785346
Is Dr. Small-head intended to look like that, or is it a fluke from the artist?

Well, Marx isn't really that annoying as every one thinks. But you have to admit that every time he appears in the comic is a fucking disaster, the first time I saw him in the boat I couldn't stop repeting to myself: "deux machina" because that was essencially what it was
>>
>>82824795

Human instincts: Eat her out.

Cat instincts: Eat her. But leave her tail on the doorstep for Holly.
>>

I'd be fine with someone playing that role if it hadn't ended up being Aaron's recurring douche-canoe character.

At least his last appearance was more tolerable. I'm even wondering if Marx and Kid Marx are two different beings - we've already seen that there's alternate versions of him elsewhere (the alternate him with the reincarnated Flask in the alternate proto-Endtown).
