I love Del Toro's notes on Hellboy's gun, when they were doing the film. They put together his prop gun for the first one based on the biggest revolver they could find and then scaled it up a little more, gust to be sure. And then they put it in Perlman's hand and filmed the movie, and he was so big that on camera it just looked like a normal gun. They went back for the second movie and made the prop so big it could barely be considered a sidearm, and on film it finally looked like a kind of over-sized handgun.
