Busiek Avengers story time bitches. We Ultron Unlimited now.
Last thread, >>82652620, we covered a bunch of irrelevant shit. And we were reminded that Beast was once a good character. Also, Simon is probably cucking Vision. Being an synthezoid is suffering
>>82677556
Enough of that shit, HERE COMES ULTRON.
>>82677556
I like Immonen much better around the mid-'00s (Nextwave and such). Before that there was always something a little "watery" about his style.
He uses the same inker now that he did then so that's not the difference, I think he just improved.
Pinnacle of the run right here
>>82677665
Yeah he changed a lot. Fuck, even his USM work compared to his current work looks completely different
>>82677648
IIRC this was a meta-reference to how on the internet, Angelica was getting positive reaction and fans didn't like Vance.
He kind of got the shaft because "guy who feels uncomfortable in the big leagues" is never going to be a good characterization.
Ironically Vance has gotten more play as an Avenger in subsequent years than she has.
>>82677828
Really? Cause outside of his appearances in Yost' New Warriors, has he done shit? I think he showed up in the Initiative but I'm not sure, its been years since I read that book
>>82677888
Avengers Academy.
>>82677957
Busiek loves captions more than Captain America loves freedom.
>>82678068
The gratuitous Wanda dance scene was George Pérez's idea. I know this must come as a surprise.
>>82678115
Didn't he draw her based on his wife? I remember reading something like that. Or maybe I'm confusing it with Maddy looking like Weezie
I need a reading order for Busiek's Avengers
>>82677980
He was specifically going for an old school marvel feel with these, so its even more narration-heavy than usual.
>>82678391
I don't know if this was the colorist's idea or Brevoort's but having the flashbacks done in one solid color doesn't really work for me.
>>82678104
I like the ongoing bit of Thor just being fucking TERRIBLE with the press.
He's such a sucker.
>>82678122
Also more seriously I like Busiek pushing that all Marvel heroes have public relations issues, not just Spidey and the X-Men. Waid did a great bit with that in his Fantastic Four run too.
>>82678481
That is what you hire Pérez for.
>>82678536
This and the Kang arc were fantastic for revitalizing the Avengers's classic villains.
>>82678852
those fucking tubes. no one ever seems to lampshade how the Avengers always get captured and held in tubes
>>82678696
Have they EVER had Jan acknowledge how fucked up the shit she did in the 70s was after this?
>>82677757
Cap's force field shield. Gotta love it when drawn comics try to reproduce movie or video game shit because cool.
I'm still salty this didn't work its way into the shitty movie somehow
>>82677888
He was a major character in The Iniative, and then was in the first half of Avengers Academy. Firestar, on the other hand... was a minor character in Yost's X-Men.
>>82679147
Nope, all Pym's fault.
>>82680321
>Wanda: Yeah but alteast we're not the X-men right?
And on that bombshell, I'll wrap it up for today. Tomorrow, Thunderbolts I think, and some shit with Silverclaw that was promptly ignored by everyone else.
Just like Silverclaw
bump for reading later
>>82680840
> [Magneto]'s NOT my father!
Now literally true, until the next retcon.
>>82680886
This is setting up a Fabian Nicieza miniseries with Magneto, Wanda, Pietro, and Polaris (i.e. all his kids or thought-to-be kids) that wasn't very good. 2000 wasn't a great year for Marvel, but I guess Busiek and Nicieza are close enough to plug each other's work.
>>82681404
You'd think Silverclaw would be due to show up in ANAD Avengers with all the young characters and Jarvis being a major presence. But I guess Silverclaw is even more memory-holed by all than Triathlon (who occasionally shows up under his new code name).
reading bump

Starts with Avengers vol.3 #1
Stops when Perez leaves.
Is the Alkhema-2 plot thread after Ultron Unlimited still dangling?
