Fans have no direct influence on the cartoon itself, they don't produce it. If a fandom ruins a cartoon for you then you should grow a thicker skin.

>The New Writers aren't fans who want to put in their input.
Are we talking in general or are we being specific?
Because of lots of writers who come in to write for some comics are often fans who want to do something they think would be cool. And then get shit like American Alien.
>>
>>82612782
I thought we were talking about cartoons, not comics.
If we're talking about comics then you're right, most of it is pretty much fanfiction anyway.

Babies In general ruin a dynamic for cartoons to me. I only let it slide if either the Baby was introduced at the very beginning of a series or at the near of one.

Social media
You can argue it's the fans, but you need fans for a successful following. But having ppl input on your show even before it's out is a mistake.

If you say you an X show, then X fans will like it. Other ppl who like Y stuff and Z stuff complain, but it was never meant for them. Putting Y and Z into an X show completely ruin it for the fans who like the show for what it was.

Bad animation. To bright colors, no sense of contrast, no imagination.
But a bad animation is decisive into making a bad cartoon.
I can go past a weak storyline if the animation is great. I'm not sure about the other way around...

>Politics, social or otherwise
>An abundance of those "very special episodes" where a topical problem in North American society is addressed, usually with ham-handed drama and tragedy (see: drugs, bullying, theft, etc.)
>Regularly-scheduled showtunes in non-musical shows (Donkey Kong Country was almost watchable if not for this)
>Introducing new characters in all the wrong ways (too soon, by making them "better" than the original characters instead of newcomers with lots to learn, by giving them too much screentime assuming everyone loves them, by making them pander to whatever "new audience" producers want in their demographic, etc.)
>>
>>82612982
>Shoe-horned social commentary
How do you mean exactly? Social commentary has been a part of comics since the 1930s and cartoons since probably the '60s.
I agree with the rest of your post though
>>
>>82613052
What about at the end of the story
>>
>>82613367
Social commentary that's glaringly obvious and hasn't been present in the rest of the cartoon.
Like having a random episode about political correctness or something

Fuck you, very special episodes are awesome.
>>
>>82613445
Coming up with nothing, sorry. Example?
>>
>>82613518
Yeah but every episode of Clone High was a very special episode.

In that case, I would be more upset with any non-special or even just averagely special episodes.
>>
Fans can't "ruin" a cartoon because even if the fandom is garbage, the ratings go up like crazy... fans only ruin themselves and their fandom
>>
Almost every reply here is retarded. Fucking hell.

>regularly-scheduled showtunes in non-musical shows

When the writers start catering to fans too much, then it becomes a problem.

Fandom itself isn't a problem, it's when writers and producers start putting in pieces of fandom to pander is when the show starts to go downhill.
>>
>>82614312
I meant "musical show" in the sense of a show focusing on music as the main concept.

>Cartoon about kids/animals/robots who are in a band / band class together
>Showtunes every episode
>Expected, entertaining, and appropriate

>Cartoon about kids/animals/robots saving the world from evil or trying to become the ultimate athletes
>Showtunes every episode
>Takes away from plot time, unnecessary, out-of-place/out-of-character, increasingly more distracting/annoying as series goes on and musical creativity dwindles
>>
>>82612492
