What is /co/'s opinion on the whole pregnancy plot?

boring cashgrab
>>
>>82592309
It's dumb as shit.

Doesn't stop me from fapping to it
>>
>>82592377
Not really a cash grab in any sense. It's a man telling a self-insert story about pregnancy. Of the few SJWs they attracted with the costume redesign this "all women want to be mothers, even the ones that think they don't" shit pushed them away.

It's a story with literally no audience.
>>
>>82592309
Still doesn't make her as interesting as Ultimate Jessica Drew
>>
>>82592309
I liked that small part after Spider-verse, but before new volume.

Giving birth to a child on some space station while skrulls are searching for some prince or some shit doesn't fit in with my idea of more "grounded" and "street-level" stuff Jessica wanted. I mean, if Jessica Jones managed to be friends with Carol without going into space, why can't Jessica Drew?

Also, I don't like how fucking smug Ben Urich is, it's not a Ben Urich thing to be smug.
>>
>SHIT MAN I HOPE I'M NOT PREGNANT
>oh wew I'm not pregnant
>...
>you know this pregnancy scare made me realize how much I want a baby
>just let me go get some sperm from a donor
>let me still fight crime while supposing to be on maternity leave
>let me go out and fight crime while the baby is just sitting at home with someone

along with
>multiple mothers who already exist in the MU
>Jess has stated before she doesn't like babies
>writer self inserting himself because he and his wife just had a baby despite them not liking babies before
>baby isn't even named yet?

Definitely a 10/10 book, 10/10 direction
Jess is more relevant than ever before, and the baby will be relevant for years to come.
>>
>>82592528
The space hospital stuff was actually the strongest point to me. The post-birth issue was awful.
>>
I wish she was still pregnant
The fucking kid doesn't even have a name or a biological father and hangs out with Porcupine most of the time instead his actual mom

If Marvel was pushing diversity after Secret Wars why didn't they just make Arana the new Spider-woman? Jessica getting pregnant would have been a great time to write her out for a year or two.
>>
>>82592989
Pet character to someone that wasn't Bendis
>>
>>82592989
They tried making her Spider-girl; her solo didn't last a year.
>>
>>82592309
Fucking stupid. They managed to take "accidental pregnancy" plotline but make it even more atrocious.
>>
missed chance to not get her with carol

like, COME ON MARVEL ITS THE CURRENT YEAR
two females can have a baby together, just make it happen

>>
>>82593515
She isn't dead?
>>
>>82592309
Pandering poster girl, something Marvel can point at and say "See? We support [liberal single mother empowerment policy]! You can't accuse us of sexism!" You can thank the Naziesque atmosphere Liberals have been creating in this country for decades.
>>
Hasn't Marvel observed what happens at DC whenever they make somebody a single mom (retconned at the next crisis event)?
>>

>Could've been a lot hotter if they went with a better artist

The only time I liked Jessica was when she was banging Clint
>>
>>82593591

>>
>>82592377
>cashgrab

I don't think they're planning on raking in the dough just because a character is knocked up.
>>
>>82592309

Dropped it as soon as it was shown that the baby was white.
>>
>>82592309
pregnancy is my fetish and I was even bored.
>>
>>82595484
Really? Fuck. I was about to download it now that it's over with because it's my fetish too.

Also this >>82592552 plot sounds incredibly insulting, so if it's not even fappable it sounds like it has no value. As someone who is cf this would probably make me rage out of control.

I was hoping she got knocked up and was upset/embarrassed about it because I get off to that.Way to ruin Jess though, I guess.
At least it wasnt U Jess.
>>
>>82595365
What else would it be?
Her default love interests are white and she is white. Plus the sperm donator is generic dude and white people are what generic people are usually.
>>
>>82595662

>cf
what is that?
>>
>>82592309
>What is /co/'s opinion on the whole pregnancy plot?
Fuck Bendis and his dumb fetishes.
>>
>>82592309
They should've just done a new Jessica Jones book if they wanted to do this, while the Netflix show is still on everyone's mind.
>>
>>82595771
Childfree. There is a lot of social pressure on people (though probably women moreso) to have children and those who don't want to are often disregarded as naive, selfish, or even heartless. CF people are people who never ever want children despite that. I'm also DINK, double income no kids.
>>
>>82595897
People like you should be banned from using and benefiting from social security tbhf
>>
>>82592485
So is Hopeless' wife pregnant or are they trying to have a kid or is he even married or what?
>>
>>82596764
He and his wife never wanted kids but then she got pregnant and they were ok with it. But because he is Hopeless he had to make it extra retarded when he wrote the comic about it.
>>
>>82595897
What social pressure to have kids?
Most media being shat by the west is all about having kids = bad and pushing every concievable form of birth control and sex that will not end in a woman becoming pregnant.

They'd have to go out of their way to have a kid and to be honest there really is no one pushing this character to have one except her.

And it's more then a bit creepy that they are pushing a quasi lesbian angle with danvers how the kid looks almost exactly like her. Even have a cover that sort of hints at it being somehow related too or looks like her.

The gay pandering is in full effect.
>>
Like a lot of modern stuff that tries to be savvy and fails, I'm left asking "who was this for"?

What type of person would
- Hop on board this book because they like new, tacticool Jessica Drew
- Stick with the book when it dropped its thin veneer of espionage and turned into another cape book
- Be on-board with teasing Danvers as some sort of girlfriend
- Welcome a pregnant crimefighter with open arms
- Become invested in another Marvel-tier "mystery" about the baby's father, and
- Feel satisfied with their explanation

Who would be down with all of that and still stick with the book, and what makes them more important than people who liked Spider-Woman before?
>>
>>82598552
Worst part is that by the fact that not only does the father have no identity but neither does the baby, it's essentially clear that the whole thing just exists as Hopeless emoting about his wife having a baby using Jessica as a mouthpiece.
>>
>>82592309

A potentially interesting idea that totally copped out on the ending.

"Oh, I never wanted children but after I slept with this guy and was late I suddenly realized that even though he didn't get me pregnant I wanted to have children even though it's never made sense for me and I've never wanted to be a single mother before or even mentioned it so I went to a Sperm bank and here we are."

I mean come on, just say she fucked R63 Carol during Secret Wars.

Marvel is still so hypocritical sometimes regarding its progressiveness. You all call them SJWs, but I'll believe it when they actually make Mystique and Destiny Nightcrawler's biological parents.
>>
>>82593296
Pretty much this. Also, Marvel will never do it (make Carol and Jessica a couple), they can't commit to basically anything. They even undid Peter and Mary Jane for fucks sake, with a deal with the devil no less.
>>
So how long until the baby is retconned?
>>
I didn't care about Spider-Woman before and I sure don't now.
>>
I liked /co/'s version better where Hulk was the father
>>
>>82595897
>selfish
I never got this. People have kids because they want kids. It's pretty much the most selfish thing you can do. Not having kids is really selfless in comparison given overpopulation and the fact many people can't afford to raise kids. Your putting aside your biological urges because it wouldn't be fare to your future spawn. It's super unselfish.
>>
Everyone I know who knows about this has more or less the same conclusion:

1: They fucking nailed motherhood. How infuriating and scary and amazing and etc etc it is in both good and bad ways.

2: They had no interest in reading it because "first-time single-mother pregnancy story" and "superhero shenanigans" are just not interesting slapped together.

>>82598552

This, basically.
>>
The most forgettable plot of 2010s
>>
>>82599529
>I mean come on, just say she fucked R63 Carol during Secret Wars.
Earth-65 Carl Danvers did find himself on 616 by chance and had to donate sperm as a way to make a quick buck.

Case closed.
>>
>>82592309

Who's the father?
>>
>>82603203
Holy shit someone who actually gets it
>>
>>82604028
some anonymous doner. there's zero hints, but I choose to believe it was Norman Osborn
>>
>>82592309
I just don't understand why she stopped wearing a mask. Are they doing the stupid thing like Clark/Superman where noone can tell the fucking difference because of glasses? If I was one of her villains you could easily pick her out of a crowd.
>>
>>82604079
Women can't wear masks you have to see they look great.
>>
>>82604065

>Norman Osborn has been secretly replacing entire stockrooms at spermbanks around the world with his own seed, he now has thousands of Goblin offspring.

It honestly sounds like something he'd do.
>>
>>82592309

I like Jessica Drew when she's being an awful person, hopefully this story will end with her changing her mind about the baby and putting it up for adoption.
>>
>>82592309
Does Ultimate Jessica still exist?

It would've been better it was actually Carol's. Kree energy, combined with Jessica's wanting of a child. Boom!

We all know Carol & Jessica are gay for one another. Just pair them off already, it would be the least pandering thing they've done.
>>
>>82592309
I can't stand Spider-Woman as a whole. I find her character pointless and unneeded, yet forced on us by Bendis. Same with Luke Cage, except that he's also a PC character as well.

Her backstory is just annoying, her character is annoying, and I still don't understand why she was ever called spider-woman. She flys, shoots energy bolts, and uses pheromones, how is any of that spider like?

Oh and her new costume is even more boring than the old one, which was taken away due to that ridiculous Outrage nonsense. That honestly made no sense to me, yes you could make out the outline of her ass, but we've seen literally thousands of official images of hundreds of well known characters in dirtier, more revealing positions, with less clothing on. Why did that particular one generate such fuss? I honestly don't understand it.

All that aside, I think pregnant chicks are kind of hot, so whatever.
>>
>>82592552
What? Are you implying that a woman can't have a baby, bring it to term, and give it all the love and attention it needs while continuing to live her life to the fullest? Raise that baby while still having fun with friends, succeeding in her chosen career, and being a strong independent woman that don't need no man?!

Then you'd be right, that kid is fucked, and she's a giant cunt for letting herself get knocked up.
>>
>>82593813
>Dat AvX versus issue with Clints dream bubbles

HNNNG, I concur!
>>
wouldnt the bad guys just punch her in the baby?
>>
>>82596733
Why? He's helping the economy, and not a welfare baby, he should be able to work, grow old, benefit from social security, and be happy whether he has kids or not.
>>
>>82597068
They push child control because of all the minors that keep getting knocked up. Past a certain age we all get pressured by family, and friends to a degree to have kids.

Everything else I agree with, the writing really is shit.
>>
>>82604342
Holy shit this is great!

Who wrote this?! No way it was Bendis...
A: He'd never say anything like that about one of his top three Waifu's.
and B: There's no where near enough speech bubbles to be Bendispeak.

But god I hope someone showed it to him, I want to imagine him sitting there crying to himself about how its not true.
>>
>>82606158
s+Iron Man made body armor for where the baby is. Protects against getting punched/shot/etc. Would need to kill the mother to access it
>>
>>82592309
>What is /co/'s opinion on the whole pregnancy plot?
Fetish bait, at best.

And not enough porn of it.
>>
I expected some halfway decent preggo porn out of it and didn't get any so the whole thing was a wash in my opinion.
>>
>>82593229
But that was before they started this diversity push and female inclusion. I'm sure it would do better now. But probably still not that well. And heck, can it possibly do any worse than Silk? (don't know sales numbers for that)
