One thing I liked about this show is how the authority figures weren't actually Evil like I recall them being in other shows.
They were really just doing their jobs and while they might have been strict, they didn't really hate the kids or anything.
Another thing that added to that was even they had lines they wouldn't cross. Like that episode where the statue got broken.
