Whenever the show's universe is jokingly aware of the show's structure it always gets me. Can't think of many examples, but an honourable mention goes to an episode of the Simpsons when Smithers says, "That's Homer Simpson, sir. Most of the major events you've been involved in in the past few months have revolved around him."

8 Bit Theater did it well. The cast get confronted with the fact that they're all a bunch of evil sociopaths (except Fighter) and are responsible for pretty much all of the bad shit that's happened so far. They shrug it off because they're a bunch of evil sociopaths who simply do not care about the destruction they've caused (again, except Fighter. he just doesn't understand what's going on because he's dumb as shit.)

This was one of the reasons I really liked Megamind.
Poor guy spends eternity autistically trying to fight the Superman clone and basically does everything he can to fuck him over buthe was never actually evil/lethal enough for the hero to consider him a bad guy. In the end, all the heroics were done for Megamind's sake, not for justice or whatnot. At least, that's how I interpret it.
It was a nice, underrated feelgood cape movie.
