This is why I could never fully get into UPA (this isn't UPA but has some of the same people). They were arty and seemed to consider it vulgar to have cartoony gags. (One writer who went from WB to UPA said that UPA people held WB cartoon writers in contempt because they were just "gag men.") Chuck Jones was sort of in the same club, but The Dover Boys is still a Warners cartoon meaning it's fast, loud and full of comic violence. Which all holds up better.
