Doesn't have to be that, but the format's becoming very predictable. Regarding having small episode plots and an overarching story, I feel Jessica Jones could have done that. Split the episode up so some are procedural and see her investigate cases. Iron Fist S1: The OG Run
The Defenders: Team up against a larger threat
Luke Cage and Iron Fist: Establishes Heroes for Hire and works and unofficial season 2 for both characters.
Iron Fist S3: Immortal Iron Fist
Iron Fist S4: There is no season 4. Fuck Living Weapon.
