Future's End which is 5 years from current New52 timeline had Terry go back in time to prevent BRother Eye from taking over the world during his time. He winds up dying and having Tim who's retired from Red Robin take his place. He goes to the future to fight Brother Eye and protect Neo Gotham which is the only place left for humans not infected by Brother Eye. Only read like the first arc and didn't care much for it.

He deduced it by seeing a particular flip that only the Flying Graysons were known for doing in that time. A flip that Dick had promised to do for Tim the same night of his parents murder. The last Flying Grayson of which was adopted by Bruce Wayne when Dick's Parent's died. He deduced it at like the age of 9, he was a smart kid.

The generation that grew up with Dick, and then Jason, have become the power people at DC for a while now.
The Tim generation (of which I am also part of) is out in the cold (see also Wally, Kyle, and at the tail end, Cass), while Damian is still the hot new stuff, and the new garbage is fresh off the barge with Harper and whatsisname.
It's all cyclical. Tim will make his return, particularly given that he was basically the foundation for the Teen Titans version of Robin, even if they called it Dick.
