Star Wars sells a bit higher than Amazing Spider-man. Darth Vader sells a bit higher than Deadpool. The rest of the Star Wars line of books don't sell particularly high.
Obi-Wan and Anakin gets outsold by Mighty Thor and a number of other Marvel books. Kanan only sells in the 30k region, so it gets outsold by over two dozen other Marvel books.
The Star Wars line's combined sales are lower than the Spider line's combined sales.

I tried to read the comic without reading the post comments so I could have a chance of judging the issue on its own merits.
Important characters always have sharply limited space for dialogue and other expression. You are giving the reader a slice of what the character is about, what should be related to about them, and what makes them distinct. That said, because your amount of space to do so is so small, EVERY word and panel depiction is important.
ESPECIALLY with a 'first issue' of a series that could very likely be someone's first comic experience, gated through by the movie industry.
Bendis - you suck. You failed really, really badly here. This issue is a complete letdown for both the brand new reader as well as longstanding fans with their own expectations.

I don't think it would get any better post bubble, it certainly wasn't very good pre-bubble. Civil War itself had some entertaining moments, but generally building up to annual events has only encouraged this sort of shoddy storytelling.
It might be concurrent with the prominence of the MCU, but it's a problem that extends further beyond it. I wouldn't have such an issue with it if event comics didn't suck up resources from things I thought were more enjoyable.
