Prepare for typical perverted /co/ replies
>>82462721
This is a show made for very young children.
>>82462746
why do you think op made the thread?
>>82462721
I haven 't seen this yetAnd I never will, because I'm a fucking adult and don't watch see-same streetbut if she doesn't just sit there, silently in the corner, and fly into an uncontrollable rage and start beating the shit out of the kids every time something changes in her general vicinity, I will be very disappointed
>>82464103
>he thinks adults don't watch Sesame Street
>>82462721
The whole idea of bringing a character with autism seems like a weird choice. Muppets are known for being light-hearted comedy and adressing a real life issue of this caliber does not fit the atmosphere of wackyness and slapstick. The problem with the character is that she will be the precious little angel of the crew. She would not get a cream pie in the face, she would not be blown up, anvils won't fall on her head. She will be safe from any kind of negative experience. When she is present, she will be inevitable centre of attention, and the fact of her ilness will create invincible barriers of how other character will behave.
And the fact that muppets can be ill in a non-comedic, realistic way brings a element of drama in a comedy series about sentient puppets.
>>82462721
Aside from the lack of violent tantruming that actually seems pretty accurate.
Even when I was little artwork of the Muppets as "real" people always weirded the hell out of me.
>>82464382
Are you forgetting that they tackled death head on when one of the actors died? Sesame street doesn't always have to be about comedy.
>>82464382

>Labyrinth
>Yoda
Yes, those Muppets sure are always light-hearted!
>Julia threads
>>82464423
Wasn't that in the seventies, though?
>>82462721
Can I fuck her?
>>82464485
You cannot.
>>82464478
He died in 1982. That doesn't change things, though. Kids need to be exposed to real stuff, not just silliness and fluff.
>>82464495
>Kids need to be exposed to real stuff
Good luck with that
>>82464494
But I need her autistic ass!
>>82464103
>>82464410
>she has to rage and throw violent tantrums
Autism is a spectrum you dolts
>>82464541
They stuck me in a class with people on the light end of the spectrum, next to people way on the other end, for two years back in high school. You get violent tantrums at both ends, I can tell you.
>>82464541
>spectrum bullshit
Autism is a catchall bullshit diagnosis perpetuated by these spectrum faggots. It's like Fibromuhgubmintmunnie and 'depression'.
>>82462721
Girls can't be autistic, that's just called "being female".
>>82464564
>'depression'.
Nigger you can look up the pathophysiology of depression, something you can't do with Autism.
>>82464590
Just dunk em in ice water and put electrodes up their asses. motivation to change wilI cure anything. Coddling these bruised fruits will only make them rot.
>>82464382
Did you forget that there was a muppet with HIV?
>>82464382
>Muppets are known for being light-hearted comedy and adressing a real life issue of this caliber does not fit the atmosphere of wackyness and slapstick
Remember that time Snuffleupagus used to be Big Bird's imaginary friend but they ended up turning him into a real character so that children who were victims of sexual or domestic abuse wouldn't feel ashamed or silenced by being told they had overactive imaginations when they reported someone hurting them?
Remember when the Muppets found out that Jim Henson died?
>>82464560As someone with autismI can tell you that isn't true of every autist
>>82464624
Of course not everyone, but even the high-functioning people can go crazy and start lashing out. I've seen it.
>>82464624
Woah, buddy, don't freak out and come running down stairs shrieking and throwing punches because somebody farted in the kitchen.
>>82464652
No doubt
>>82464655
Don't fart in my kitchen then you clod
>>82462721
>personification of Autism
I don't know, it's way too broad a diagnosisthough to be honest I think that it's way overdiagnosed
>>82464655
I laughed a little too hard at this
>>82464722
The bitch probably doesnt even play Bubsy 3D or live off blotted pizzas.
>>82462721
they should be Punted then
>>82462721
When will she get a puppet?
>almost all other vids can barely crawl to 3000 if they're lucky

Explain this.

Nothing whips the pickle like damaged goods
>>82464855
i dont need to explain because you know well why
>>82464103
It's only two minutes, you dork. If you waste time on 4chan so it's not like you're a super busy guy, you can spare two minutes to watch an autistic cartoon.

>>82464430
>>82464438

God, I haven't seen that. And a muppet with HIV? Did they really went that far?

wat
Being autistic myself, I find that offensive
>>82465012
>Did they really went that far?
>went
HA! You should have typed 'go' instead of 'went'! Everyone look! He goofed! HAHAHA!
>>82465083

They're keeping it pretty lite.
>>82464485
Sure, she's a puppet, not a child

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.
Not Autism.
Say it with me now.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. OCD.
Not Autism.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. OCD.
Not Autism.
Got it?
>>82462721
I like it a lot honestly. It makes a lot more sense to introduce kids to these varying weird things and people early rather than have them be blindsided by them later. And I know the /pol/tards here will disagree with me but it's true. Trying to keep kids in a sanitized Tupperware container until they're 25 with no idea about reality just leads to dysfunctional shut-ins...just like most of the people who post on 4chan.
>>82465012
It wad for the African version of Sesame Street, because being a kid with HIV was (still is? I dunno) a legitimate possibility there.
>>82464652
Aspie here and I can confirm.
I don't do it for no reason though. I've only lashed out to people who bully me for a while and ignoring them doesn't work the first times. The teachers always took my side because of my autism.
>>82464655
>farting in my kitchen
I'm going to fucking kill you if you do this
>>82469515
>mfw my buddy hates it when I fart
>hold in my farts till I go into his kitchen and fart in kitchen on purpose just to see him throw a fucking tantrum
>>82467528
>keep kids in a sanitized Tupperware container
I seem to recall that being the plot to an episode of Eerie, Indiana.
>>82464655
>>82469515
what the fuck are you talking about
>>82464652
I'm on the high functioning end of the spectrum, and can confirm.Sometimes I just get super mad, last time was several years ago. I don't ever punch other people though, its always myself, my face is a much more acceptable target.
>>82462721
When will we see the full spectrum represented?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4PTf7LgsIE
>>82464855
Autism is hilarious. Specially on the internet
>>82464541
YIKES! I didn't knew Autism was a ghost! *gulp*
>>82464855
Because, she´s cute, cute!!!
>>82462721
I dunno. She's cute, and her character honestly seems benign enough. There's always the risk of this weird, cringey patronizing feeling with these kinds of things, and I feel like they mostly avoid that. I like how they have her bouncing on her toes at 1:09 and doing the flappy thing at 1:33. Nailed it with that.
The whole swinging song was fucking grating, though.
>>82464855
The addition of this character was heavily publicized and in the media. It's not gonna pull the average number of views.
>>82464103
>>82464410
>>82464541
>>82464541
Soerg here. I'm pretty much constantly at DEFCON 2 because of sensory stuff, and trigger sounds are a real thing, but I don't think Julia has to come unglued every time the garbage truck comes by to be autistic.
>>82471203
Underrated post.
>>82471203
you'd better be careful around us or we'll curse you with our autism magic
you know why there's so many sonic fan characters?they used to be real people before they crossed us
>>82464382
>The whole idea of bringing a character with autism seems like a weird choice. Muppets are known for being light-hearted comedy and adressing a real life issue of this caliber does not fit the atmosphere of wackyness and slapstick.
The first episode of Sesame Street taught kids how to participate in an anti-government protest.
Any Julia requests?
It was a really good decision to make her a girl. Breaks the ol' "only boys are autistic" stereotype.
>>82472773
Something cute like Julia playing with others sesame streets dolls.
>>82472878
You mean other puppets?
>>82472898
Yeah, sorry.
>>82472773
This, but with Julia.
>>82464564'Don't get wrapped up in categories. Of course autism and depression don't exist as "things-in-themselves." But who cares about the ontology of autism as long as it remains a useful diagnostic tool? Surely you don't deny that there's actually something wrong with people who have autism, and that getting the diagnosis is helpful for them more often than not?
>>82462721
No, this one is.
>>82470720
Oh my god. I've never seen this before and I feel so fucking bad for that woman.
>>82472972
Kek'd HARD

Oh, SHIT!
>>82462721
Does she developed and sometimes hop from obsession to obsession? On the spectrum here, pretty much my childhood.Yes I did have a Sanic phase.
>>82475010
>Does she developed
Yes, she does.
>>82464652
High-functioning autist who had anger issues in school, I'd say the difference between low-functioning and high-functioning lash-outs is that the latter are similar to just getting pissed-off like normal people do, but you might get frustrated more for autism-related reasons (trouble socializing, for instance). It's the difference between having fundamental cognitive issues and being someone with a short fuse.Full disclosure: the worst of it was 9th grade, so a lot of that's just being an edgy teenager.
>>82464652
True. I'm nearly 30 now though, haven't had any major breakdowns since my early 20's.
Sometimes I do wonder if the more in your face aspects of autism don't fade away as you get older. It seems to be the case for me and some others I know on the lighter end of the spectrum. Now people just think I'm an overanalyzing geeky eccentric rather than a complete spazz.
>>82467487
Don't the two tend to overlap often though?
>>82462721
>tfw your brother has severe autism like this.
>>82464652
So does everyone
>>82475010
Holy shit that is literally me.
Like right now I am in a Hickmab kick
>>82462721

I'm an adult, but I like to shit on autistic people. Ok bro.
>>82477077
agree, we all have our fucking triggers, but of course one thing is beating the shit out of someone for being an asshole and another one go apeshit because someone called Sonic "gay"
>>82476828
You gonna fuck him in the kitchen while farting too?
