Speaking as a Robin fan myself, I think Damian fans are often very young, whereas Dick fans are often people who've bonded hardcore with this character since they were very young. Not an excuse to be a shit, obviously, but I think that could be it. Tim fandom can be really bitter, as well.
But really, all hardcore comic character fanbases are terrible because they take it incredibly personal.
