Why are they doing sequals to movies that haven't been around for almost 15 years? What the fuck?
Spacejam 2
Incredibles 2
toystory 4
finding dory
I mean they are WB and Disney, but Why the fuck are they taking so long to come to us. You'd think that all these movies would of happened almost a year later. They could of made a shit ton of Spacejam movies, are they just being modest?
Cash in on nostalgia
Next sequel to Police Academy when?

I've heard they've been wanting to do this for a while but I don't know why they haven't

Space Jam 2 is being made to pander to nostalgic 90's kids and internet meme culture. That's it. Nothing else.
Pic related was their attempt at making a sequel and while it was a better movie overall, they still got a lot of things wrong and it bombed.
I have no idea how they think Space Jam 2 is going to make money because it's only going to appeal to a small group of people who were kids when the original came out. Anyone younger won't care, anyone older who were fans of Looney Tunes before then are going to hate it.

>it was a better movie overall
I watched it. No it wasn't. I also rewatched Space Jam a few months ago and it was just as fantastic.

>I have no idea how they think Space Jam 2 is going to make money
That's the thing, everybody acts like "cash in on nostalgia" is a surefire business practice and enough of a reason to justify those movies, but it fails at least as often as it succeeds.
I understand it looks low risk/high reward, but I'm not sure it actually is.

Actually, they do it because NEW ventures are extremely risky. Sequels as much safer by comparison.

They haven't been able to find a new running gag to replace the gay bar.

How can a Space Jam 2 work?
The first movie came out 20 years ago during the peak of Michael Jordan's popularity. Not a single sport figure today is near as huge as he was in the 90's, not even LeBron.
Might as well make a movie about golf starting Tiger Woods.

They're banking on epic memes.
