>tfw Superman will never be portrayed this way again
>>
No one really wants to see him that way in this day and age. Actual superman fans are in their 30s and 40s, not the demographic these movies are going for.
>>

>No one really wants to see him that way in this day and age.

Plenty do.

>Actual superman fans are in their 30s and 40s, not the demographic these movies are going for.

No one mentioned movies.
>>
>>82422695

I'm 21. I like all different kinds of Superman. Injustice was fucking dumb though the game's worth it just to see Superman come through at the end and slap the shit out of everyone before putting Regime Superman away
>>
>>82422655
It's really sad. The reason most Superman fans liked him is the same reason the people in the comics liked him. He is an inspiration. DC seems to have forgotten that at some point.

>>82422987
They don't forget it but at one point, people bore the shit out of that kind of Supes so they try to polish him.
>>
>fag Superman
Ok
>>
>>82423422
Honestly, the Superman that bores me long, drawn out stories about him fighting Darkseid.
>>
Nice guy Superman isn't cool. He has to be gritty and edgy now, because we're apparently reliving the 90s.
>>
>>82423658
Since when has Superman ever been gritty and edgy?
>>
>>82423687
Injustice

Memetastic choice of words on his part, but I get what he means somewhat.

Not that I don't think he should take on foes that can actually threaten him, but the stories themselves could has Superman acting in a more charismatic and inspirational way.
>>
>>82422655
I'm working on it fampai but the comic industry is top tier cancerous so it's going to take a while.
>>

>this was made 75 years
>still looks better than most cartoons today
>>
>>82425323
I'm not that guy, but I'm working on a little story in which Superman talks to a kid. When asked what he wants to be when he grows up, he says "I want to be like you!" and they talk about what that means. Of course, being a Superman comic, it will contain flashbacks of previous battles in order to have some action in it. If anyone cares to read it, I'll post it when I'm done.
>>
>>82425524
Well when you pour enough time, money and effort into something it's bound to have something to it.
>>
>>82425650
Post it. I'm sure you want to include the action, but don't feel obligated to put in action scenes just because Superman was originally an action character, Peace on Earth is one of my favorite Superman comics and that features zero violence.
>>
>>82422695
>No one really wants to see him that way in this day and age

You don't know that. No one knows that. All we do know is the people who like Snyder Superman are a pretty extreme minority.
>>
>>82425860
I like Snyder Supes because in Man of Steel he was so close to being something close to this, but got fucked up in the 2nd act.
>>
>>82425860
>>82426191
The most frustrating part of Snyder Superman is that the movie keeps treating him like a great inspirational figure without him ever earning it. Who the hell had the idea to build that Superman statue and why were they not voted out of office?
>>
>>82422655
I'm asking out of genuine curiosity, not memeing, but when did inspirational Superman start? Because it's the one I'm familiar with, but in his early Golden Age appearances he seems way more petty and reckless. When was this particular gentle, insightful etc. Superman established? Was it a certain era or certain writers?
>>
>>82426594
Late golden age.

>when Pre-Flashpoint Clark was introduced to the Nu52 universe I was afraid after his Lois & Clark miniseries they would kill him
>mfw they're killing Nu52 Superman instead

That's some monkey's paw shit.
>>
>>82422987
>he is an inspiration
Most heroes are, it's not like that was something unique to Supes.
>>
>>82426365
>without him earning it
The man saved the world on three separate occasions and he's constantly saving people
What else does he have to do?
>>
>>82427011

He won't die. I really fucking hope not anyway. He doesn't deserve to go out like this. But I do think he's going away
>>
>>82422905
Injustice is fun as fuck. If you don't like the injustice comics for how utterly fun they are despite their stupidity, you have so soul.
>>
>>82422655
You're the reason why DC is needlessly sidelining Nu52 Supes and forcing post crisis supes into the nu52.
>>
>>82426365
>without him ever earning it

Really, nigga? My city has a statue for a Rugby player. The guy who saved the world is going to get a statue at the very least
>>

>>

Jesus fucking Christ, this.

Lord help me, I'm actually starting to dislike Darksied lately, and I used to fucking LOVE Darksied
>>
>>82425727

It has more than just something. The animation is incredible because the used early rotoscoping technology as reference.
>>
>>82422987
>DC seems to have forgotten that at some point

>literal treated as Jesus in movies
>in the comics he was still the boy scout standing with the people even when they turned on him

You faggots are never happy.
>>
>>82423687
The 30s
>>
>>82427137

He's already had over 3 deaths/psuedo-deaths in 5 years, so they're just going to depower him and have him be Super Lois's little bitch boy damsel in distress.

1. Original Doomsday Death
2. Second Death of Superman (Morrison Action Comics)
3. Doomed
4. Truth
>>
>>82427207

To be fair Darkseid hasn't shown up in prime Earth since the first JL arc
>>
Morrison's superman was almost perfect but i prefer the silver age personality

Between the silver and Bronze Age supes I guess

>Super dick mixed with social justice (Not in that way) Superman

So what we have now ?
>>
>>82427295
The 1978 movie was a bit heavy handed with the Jesus stuff thought that's my favorite cape movie of all time.
>>
>>82427137
I personally wouldn't wish for him to die either - there are characters that I don't like or am not fond of, but I can understand why some people like them OR (see Harley Quinn) they are written in a fan service fashion towards a sort of psuedo popularity (another good choice here would be Teen Titans GO comics, not really fan service but written in a way that the writers and publisher think it should be, I recently picked up some stuff for nieces and nephews and I would be embarrassed to have them get an idea that comic books are like that one).

They should have done the depowered story for this, since I suspect they will bring him back. I can't see them have a 40 or so Superman with a bunch of people in their 20s (I guess Bruce must be early 30s) in perpetuity.
>>
>>82427316
>gritty
nope
>edgy
nope
>boyscout
nope
>insipirational
nope
>underdeveloped
yep

it doesn't matter much what he started as, only what interpretation of him you actually like. if your favorite supes happens to be golden age though, then good on ya
>>
>>82427460
More like he was a nice but kind of weird guy who was constantly put upon.
He just seemed very laid back in those old comics
>>
>>82427504
Gritty
Yea

Edgy
Yea

The rest
Not really

30s superman wasn't fully formed yet I suppose but he was definitely edgy (hey lets just destroy these projects because some of these kids were criminals)

Not like emo edgy though
>>
>>82423070
a tough son of a bitch that got shit done

if you asked this guy why he does good he would simply say 'cause you gotta'
>>
Gentlemen, what's next for Superman? Dawn of Justice isn't going to break a billion, and it seems unlikely to me he'll get anymore solo movies. Will he always be grim dark? Will he actually have some of that promised development with his return in Justice league part one?

I just want more of my fave...

>Super Lois's little bitch boy damsel in distress

Why? To what end?

What's the fucking point? DC already has two female Kryptonians they could work with, to say nothing of the numerous female entities with the Superman standard powerset.

What kind of half-assed gimmick is this?
>>
>>82422655
But he's really only ever been portrayed like this in this one specific story.

People act as if All-Star properly represents Superman, but it doesn't. It's like people that try to say TDKR properly represents Batman.
>>
>all star supes but rocafort instead of quitely
lord MAKE IT SO
>>
>>82427945
Desperate attempt to sell the lois lane character to an audience that saw her become irrelevant, taken out of the story and the story actually becoming better for it, shat on in an SUPERMAN IS CLARK KENT story, and left for dead.

No one actulaly likes this and to be honest, I struggle to think of anyone who is even slightly interested in lois lane or cares for this story where they try the whole role reversal thing in an attempt to sell her to loser leg beards.
>>
>>82428678
>>82427945
Friendly reminder that SuperLois' powers are killing her.
>>
Thank God.
>>
>>82422695
Judging by DoJ nobody wants to see grimderp Superman either.
>>
>>82427036

Supes takes it further than 98% of them, which you'd know if you read the comic in the OP.

Exactly why nobody likes Snyderman. Even Silver-Age Supers feels more human.

flawed =/= relatable.
>>
>>82422695
People in their 30s and 40s don't go to the movies? Is that your point?

>implying pic related's whole era wasn't directly inspired by the success of All-Star coinciding with Infinite Crisis
>>
Just saw the animated adaptation.
Supes VA was pretty flat, but Luthor was great.
I prefer Luthor finding redemption/remorse in his actions before he's executed to the punch to the face
>>
I recently picked up Action Comics vol 1 by Grant Morrison. Found it to be really great, but heard the rest of new52 superman is pretty bad, both Action Comics and the Superman-title is apperently not that good.

So /co/, can you give me some good superman recommendations? Already got All-Star on the way.

>Whor done right
>>
>>82422695
20-year-old Supes fan reporting in. I can't think of a lot of Superman incarnations I really dislike, other than MAYBE Injustice, just because I don't think even emotionally-distraught "wah wah you killed my gf" Clark would go so far as to try to kill his best pals

I stopped reading Superman nu52 during Hel on Earth.
Can a gentle soul give me a quick recap of everything that happened after? Are they killing him?
I don't know about the multiverse convergent bullshit also.
>>
>>82427815
Is there any reasonable way to salvage the shitfuckery that Snyder has wrought, or would it require something on the order of a crisis film? I mean, he took one of DC's star players and wrote him in his twilight years. That's not an idea set for longevity. And I'm not sure that any level of success will make people forget the first two films.
>>
>>82425524
I think each episode cost about half a million when adjusted for inflation. That's absurd.
>>
>>82431883
But that Kent is way too put-together
>>
>>82427460
He was derpy guy who constantly did good as Supes and got shit on as Clark. Kinda like in All Star or Reevesman.
>>
He is still good guy and has devoted everything for everyone.
What are you saying?
When did Superman become grim dark and never like All-Star Superman?
>>
>>82438027
Superfags don't actually read Superman comics outside of what is considered a classic and approved by other Superfags.

They probably read more Batman just to find things to complain against the character.
>>
Why Superman will never be portrayed this way again?
He has been portrayted as so and treated like so by people around the world.
Why can't he be like that anymore?
>>
Superman has made his image as benevolant saviour like All Star Superman for more than 70 years.
Nothing can change that image.
Why do you think Zack's shitty movie will change everything about Superman?
>>
>>82438132
because really all that matters is what normalfags think.
>>
>>82438171
People will forget shitty movies soon.
Do you think that DCEU will override everything Superman has made?
>>
