The Resident Alien series of miniseries published by Dark Horse is pretty good. The best way I can describe it is "Murder, She Wrote"-meets-"The X-Files." It's this weird hybrid of a cozy, small town murder mystery and science-fiction. It doesn't sound like it should work but it totally does (although the second miniseries is a bit of a letdown). The series is up to its third miniseries, if I remember correctly, and they've all been collected as trade paperbacks.
