Spoilers ahead

The action was phenomenal, with an extra dose of enjoyment because I assumed they would do the boring comic route of everyone splitting off for 1v1s instead of the chaos we got.

But the real seller was the character portrayals. From Wanda's line about 'fear', to Tony saying 'My father made that shield' even to Spidey's '…Is there money?' before joining Stark.

Plus there's just something great about having a non-powered villain in a movie with tons of powers, as well as avoiding the 'friends fight each other but then team up for the real evil' trope. Hell, my favourite line is probably "I believe this is yours, Captain America!"
>>
>>82376292
Agreed, top contender for best MCU movie
>>
Do people really think there's no problem with a team of American based people with powers traveling around the world and conducting whatever operations they feel like with absolutely no oversight but their own to keep them in check?
>>
I just arrived from the cinema. Amazing movie. It's weird how Captain America, a literal who? got the best Marvel movies

No great plan, no world domination, just a man wanting revenge. I was pleasantly surprised when they found those super soldiers dead.

>>82376347
Yeah, but on the other hand the armies and security agencies all over the world failed to protect it, forcing a bunch of superpowered freaks to intervene. Not to mention SHIELD being nothing but a Hydra's filial.
>>
>>82376292
There were at least 500 different reasons why this movie could've been a glorious fuck up, yet it managed to sail right over any of those issues and end up being a great movie. Saw it twice in one day, might be seeing it again on Monday. Call me a shill if you must.

To me the best part is that Black Panther felt fucking fantastic, just felt completely badass even with small amount of time we got with him. Accent + action + fight style + great acting + best lines in the movie. I went in dreading 'WE WUZ KINGS'
>>
>>82376347
No, I totally understand the concern. I think my opinion is just that we need more people doing "good" in this world and assisting others in any way that they can, and often times the concern with the law isn't with helping others. My perception is that what Cap is doing is incredibly risky, but that oversight can just as easily lead into even shakier ethics, which won't even be properly challenged.
>>
>>82376347
if they're gonna fuck up your country, just kill them
>>
>>82376404
The fact that it still manages to be a Captain America movie all the while is some damn good writing/acting. No fan could walk away upset with how their character was handled. Well, unless you're a diehard Zemo fan.

Comapred to a viewing of BvS I was at where a little girl was crying by the time Supes picked up the spear.
>>
>>82376347
Oversight sounds good, but the UN is inefficient as hell. SHIELD was the best option and even they got infiltrated by HYDRA.
>>
Anyone else wasn't too impressed with the airport fight? The excessive quips kinda put a damper on the tension and the CG extravaganza did nothing for me. Bucky escaping the German special forces and Cap in the apartment complex was the best.
>>
I gotta be honest, I was super pleased by how you could tell that Tony was genuinely trying to do the right thing and what was best for everyone and bring all his friends in unharmed if possible. And that he was willing to end up helping Steve out when it became clear that he was right *in this particular instance* while keeping himself off the radar so he can stick to the law like he thinks is right in the future.

The denoument of the film was weak but it didn't end up spoiling it for me. And of course Lang and Parker were entirely superfluous but added a lit to the scenes they were in.
>>
>>82376565
The whole apartment scene felt like Jason Bourne with a Shield. Which would have been perfect for TWS but wasn't as ideal in CW.

They showed their incompetence by declaring their intent to kill Bucky on sight, when they only had a bad quality video to prove he was guilty. If this is the future of the Accords then there will be a LOT more dead innocent people, and not less.
>>
I just saw the movie, took me a few hours to process what I just saw. I felt it was a good movie, but I was disappointed because it could have been a GREAT movie if not for its flaws. The beginning act of the movie had the same issues as Age of Ultron with the pace of the plot too fast, shaky cam and cheap cgi effects (especially the iron man suit). The countless cameos also ruined it and it didn't feel like a Cap movie. On the other hand we had a great villain motive and scheme, and Black Panther and Spidey were introduced amazingly well. Maybe Marvel shouldn't have omitted the Avengers except for Iron Man and Rhodes while keeping the Black Panther and Spidey appearances. Could have made for a more personal story without the distractions. Well that's my two cents /co/.

Oh, and Aunt May is fucking hot, Peter must be blowing his load all the time. And what was with the CAPITAL LETTERS every time there was a change in venue?

Do we all agree then? The general, and I do mean General consensus is that Spider-man, Ant Man and Black Panther were the high points of the film.

I agree but really would like to add that it takes nothing from Steve and Stark, they were handled pretty awesome. And Hawkeye rocked, which was great.

Just finished watching it. It was a hell of a ride, really enjoyable, fewer jokes than AoE and the action was phenomenal.

What? He believed Cap needed the help. Steve had trouble with just Bucky before, and they thought they were going up against 5 super assassins who may have been even more dangerous than him, plus whatever else they could imagine Zemo could come up with in the mean time.

There's no bitter hatred between Cap and Tony's groups here. They're all allies. They know they're allies. They know the only reason they're fighting against each other is because of their different stances.

Iron Man is the best villain the MCU has EVER had.

If you deny Tony stark isn't a villain, that just goes to show how good he was.

Weird. I actually felt that the opening scene was probably the strongest opener in any cape movie thus far. I actually enjoyed it more than the Winter Soldier opening, and it was even better after coming from the turdheap that was Ultron's opener.

But that might just be because of my waifu Scarlet in casual clothes playing secret agent, steve fucking kicking a guy halfway across a compound into a stone pillar and the absolute madness that was crossbones vs widow. Granted, the shaky cam in the beginning was annoying. But I can call it a necessary evil since it did the job of conveying the sort of chaos that the New Avengers have to deal with compared to the steady shots and focus that Iron Man and co have when handling threats. So annoying yes, but for a reason.

When I left the cinema yesterday I came out wanting two things. A Black Panther movie and a cornflakes dispenser.

In two scenes of the movie a german private TV stations news show appeared, with logo and everything

The issue is: That station has, since the 90s, broadcasted DC stuff. Batman TAS was on it, Adventures of Lois&Clark, Batman Beyond, Gotham, The Flash - all on that station.

There is already too many characters. Also it is easier to show Tony going off the deep end without Pepper. Finally it is justified that Pepper just got tired being his babysitter. Pepper is still running Tony's Empire and basically keeping the money rolling in while Tony play superhero, but she just refuse to be Tony's substitute mother anymore.

Pepper isn't Batman's Alfred. She has no obligation to stick around and take Tony's shit. She is a loyal employee but he just asks too much from her. That's why Tony's only friends are robots and AIs.

He displays his powers, but he also noted that he doesn't understand the stone on his head and as such can't access its true powers. He also worries that the stone is a part of him and as such is a vulnerability.
Wanda took advantage of that by using her powers to stun Vision indirectly THROUGH the stone.

Don't think we have any confirmation, unless someone can post a source.

But from the dialogue and motives we got in the movie, Cap specifically asks him who his buyer is, so I assumed that Zemo wanted the weapon as a contingency plan or something. But then Wanda blew up some africans and a better plan fell into place for him. If it gets confirmed that Zemo planned for bones to blow himself up that is some Aizen-level shit there.

Of course in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter whether they were working together or not since that wasn't the point really. And in that same sequence Scarlet Witch illustrates that air-based weapons aren't a sure success against Avengers.

I want Gamorra to become just like Quill in that she would start picking up men like she does in the comics. I think it is fair that Quill isn't the only one who can wake up next to random people he doesn't remember the name of.

Yeah, that was wasted potential. They should've had Ant-Man get flung at one point and get caught in Spoderman's web.

>>82377970
To be fair, we don't know exactly how old MCU Aunt May is. Marisa Tomei is 51, that doesn't mean her character is.

I'm 25 and my mom's sister still isn't 50 yet. And she's my mom's older sister. Aunt May always seemed old as fuck to me.

Spiderman and Ant-man didn't fight directly, but they turned the tide of the battle at times. Their particular abilities were something neither team were prepared for.
>>
>>82378003
51 sounds about right since we know Peter is canonically 15. 36 when he was born, if she was the older sister by a few years that puts Peter's mom at 30-32, which seems right to me given the socioeconomic status and jobs held by Peter's parents.

Can we talk about how great this movie is for NOT killing Cap?
I went in fully expecting to leave in downed spirits because I'd seen the image of Stark in front of Steve's body like in the comics. It was so reminiscent of Star Wars Han Solo spoiler that I thought it was real

I was expecting something about Spider-Man getting jealous about Antman being able to talk to ants. Maybe in the next few films...

Also who else was slightly unneededly disappointed that the Netflix series wasn't referenced?
>>
>>82378132
My heart was racing because I thought it would be Tony that would be dying. I remember Bucky clutching at the chest of his suit and it wasn't until the end of the movie when I remembered that he already fixed his heart in the third IronMan movie.
>>
>>82378170
Thanks you based MarkusFeelyRussos.

At my showing, when WS tells Cap he's not sure he's worth all this trouble, some guy behind me told his buddy "Of course you're not worth it, fucking unbearable bitch".

Anybody else resented Buck? I didn't, but I can see how some people might.

Also it's hilarious how the film is basically an enormous jealous harem competition between Buck, Sam and Tony.
>>
Spider-Man being there felt off for me, like Tony hiring a kid for his army while Black Panther might be confusing for those unfamiliar to the character in the slightest for the audience.
>>
Kinda stupid how Bucky goes back to sleep again so basically everything that had occurred was pointless, also wouldn't Cap have destroyed the book?

Not kidding, I still had hope DD might show up. Way to many people onscreen for that to happen, though.. I would've liked some dialogue reference like they did for Spidey in Ant-man.
>>
>>82376565
The airport fight was supposed to be a fuck around between friends. Everyone was pulling their punches except for Panther. That's why when War Machine gets fucked up and Tony snaps it's supposed to be a big deal.

The best scene was Cap and Bucky fighting Tony Stank.
>>

>At my showing, when WS tells Cap he's not sure he's worth all this trouble, some guy behind me told his buddy "Of course you're not worth it, fucking unbearable bitch".
>Anybody else resented Buck? I didn't, but I can see how some people might.
Bucky is literately the last human alive who had any connection with Steve's pre-frozen life after Peggy died. Of course he is going to hold on to Bucky like his whole existence depends on it.
>>
>>82378187
I was sympathetic with Cap for being protective over his little Bucky-chan but yeah, I feel it worked well into splitting the audience to be for and against pro and anti-registrant teams

>>
>>82377886
>unwarranted self importance.
You have a funny definition of self importance. Tony's saved the world numerous times, many times on his own.

While that's not terribly impressive compared to his peers, he's done it through science, technology, and sheer willpower rather than any superpowers.

That's something to be respected.
>>
>>82378235
Bumping this. I bet the tumblr shippers are re-drawing the scene but with Bucky being jealous.

Honestly, I didn't even think of the connection of the whole plot with Peggy's funeral and Steve trying so hard to save Bucky until now.
Good job, director. Good theming and subtle characterization.

It was just after ANTS appeared and started feeling up Cap. An announcement/ Siren is heard in the background to evacuate the Airport which they attribute to Stark. It's why they go to the Airport fully geared up and not trying to sneak through in civvies.
>>
>>82378339

>>
>>82378333
I kind of wonder if Stark had already been in touch with them at all. It probably wouldn't have been too difficult for him to find out who was pulling off superheroics in Queens if his tracking down of Peter is anything to go by.

I like to think he occupies his time with locating and contacting potential new candidates when he's not handing out FREE MONEY these days.
