You're mistaking Penny having a soul for her possessing human mortality. Penny exists as a synthetic intelligence and as long as that intelligence can be reactivated she will resume living. A human being can be declared clinically dead (heart stopped, brain ceases functioning) and still come back to life, sometimes without even significant brain damage. A synthetic life form should be able to revive the same way. The only difference is, assuming no damage to their hard drive has been sustained, it should be much easier to revive a synthetic intelligence. Just repair and replace the damaged platform and hook it up to the brain.
Although I will admit, the idea of them being unable to resurrect Penny because any attempt would result in a completely unique life is quite tragic.

Lancaster is really not a big ship. Never had been. Even then most of us said we preferred friendship than anything back then.
I'm honestly not sure why people started spamming it at the later parts of the volume but it seemed to just be one namefag anyways. I wouldn't say it got more popular rather more vocal, I guess?
