I'm a newbie to DC but with all the superman themed shit Movies, comics and cartoons where his power levels vary like crazy I wanted to know who is the most undeniable powerful version of superman out there
>>
Congratulations, Supes. You just murdered everyone on those worlds.
>>
Superman Prime/Superman One Million.
>>
probably the one from DC One Million

People might bring up the Superman Thought Robot but the scenario required for it to be activated does not apply to power levels discussions
>>
>>82056094
He probably did but the real question is where the hell did he get that chain from
>>
>>82056113
I'm not that familiar with Prime and haven't read One million yet what their stories?

Whose that?
>>
>>82055989
All star superman he did manage to carry brainiacs ship over a distance 50 million miles in less than a minute
>>
>>82056159

Considering how Superman was back then, he probably forged it himself. That was back when he could make up powers on the fly.

Hell, he could have shat it out.
>>
>>82056207
DC One Million is about Superman in the far future. That's probably the most powerful version of the character.
>>
>>82055989

Cosmic Armor Superman. The guy is bigger that the multiverse. More powerful than the Anti Monitor and his super power is pretty much: I can't lose.

That guy makes Demonbane looks like a bitch.
>>
>>82056385
>The Thought Robot is a 4-D Superman woken up in a body of pure thought. He is powered by symmetry, memories, duality, probabilities, and possibilities. A doomsday machine engineered by the Monitors to defend against the ultimate evil. Capable of adapting instantly to counter any future threat. A sentinel-suit designed for a single purpose, to protect all existence against the ultimate enemy. A plot device.
It exists outside of fiction and is the reason that the good guys always win in every story.
>>
>>82058572
Armor Supes is the Platonic Ideal of Superman existing in monitor-space. He is the very essence, the very idea of superhero. He both contains and surrounds the multiverse as everything DC reflects his archetype in some form or another.

The armor itself was erected around "the flaw" that is the multiverse inside monitor-mind. It was filled with pure Superman when Captain Atom sent his soul-data to the monitor sphere after he and Ultraman annihilated each other.

His power is to do the impossible. He -cannot- lose. He was summoned to beat up an evil vampire monitor snacking on the multiverse like gushers.

Not Superboy Prime. The guy that learned how to do 5D magic and powered up in the sun for eons. SuperMAN Prime.

The Prime in Superboy's name refers to him having come from Earth Prime. The Prime n Superman's name refers to him being Kal-El, the first of the Superman legacy.

Plain old Silver Age Supes could do crazy things. he blew a sun with his super breath and broke infinity by going too fast.

The Sword of Superman is a powerup written by Elliot S Maggins that makes him omnipotent and cosmically aware.

No one talks about him, but the Superman from the Adventures of Superman story Strange Visitor was OP and based as fuck.

Pic related isn't him. That's one of his several super-clones comforting the first god Anu as he lays dying from old age. Superman and his many selves end up the last living creatures in the universe. He holds the universe in his hand and refuses to let it die until everyone else has their fill of life and then he finally allows entropy to take over so that he can rescue a space craft stuck in a time warp from long ago and lead it to whatever waits beyond the universe.

So a Superman that can survive a universe imploding and hold entropy in one hand. Pretty impressive.
>>
>>82059295
I wish there was a Superman powerful enough to make the decision to stop being a fictional character and will himself into the real world.
>>
So let me know what you guys think. Ranked least to most powerful:

John Byrne Man of Steel Superman

Golden Age Superman

Post-Crisis Kal-El, Post-Crisis Kal-L. Nu52.

Superboy Prime (with armor and shit), Kingdom Come Superman

Silver Age Superman, All-Star Superman, Captain Carrot

Sword of Superman Superman, Superman Prime, Strange Visitor Superman

Thought-Robot Superman
>>

>ill kill you to death
>>
>>82059082

Wouldn't that mean his power is to lose?
>>
>>82059723
Orqwith tried that, and we all know how that turned out.
>>
Ohhaha
>>
>>82061068
You are missing Captain Adams, also nu52 is not as powerful as New Earth's superman, and Byrne superman is just New Earth's in his early career.
>>
>>82056458
>he could have shat it out.

Why? Why did you have to write that down?

I could completely envision him dropping that. "Now to drag these planets with this super chain, which I made with my power of internal super-forging, across the galaxy to new suns!"
>>
>>82063316

Captain Adams is not a Superman. He's a Captain Atom / Doctor Manhattan.
>>
How about entirely different versions of Superman, like Sun God, the Plutonian and the Sentry?

Also, how does 'Injustice' Supes compare? And Ultraman?

Pic related to go with >>82057296 and this is probably a more complete summary:
http://superman.wikia.com/wiki/Superman_Prime_%28One_Million%29

>>82061068
Technically, All Star is the same as Prime, simply at different ages. So yes, different power levels, but the same individual. I also think I would Prime before Thought-Robot/Platonic Ideal/Armor Supes and have them on their own lines.

>>82059295
That was a great story. The writer wanted to do a Superman on-going and he said in an interview he would probably follow up from this.

I so wanted that on going. Given that they did American Alien and Lois & Clark, and that probably two of their Superman related titles will end up being minis, I would hope they would consider this as a mini as well.
>>
>>82063316
>Nu52 not as powerful as New Earth

He benched the Earth, but come to think of it yeah. He never lifted Infinity like New Earth or tanked a sun exploding.

>Captain Manhattan
He can probably bounce all around the power chart depending on how stable his current state of mind is. When he's cosmically aware he's able to hold Ultraman with one hand while launching 5th dimensional offenses.

>Byrne Superman is just New Earth

I thought Birthright was New Earth's "canonical" origin? Either way he's weak enough to get his own tier. 40's Superman was able to withstand nukes. He even took pictures of them for the military. 90's Superman got KOed by exploding gas stations (Death of Superman).

>>82063442
>Other versions

>Sun God
Probably Nu52 tier. He was able to punk the Avengers until Strange raped him with Shub Niggurath. Hickman Sentry would probably be New Earth tier. He was holding back an incursion all by himself. And then survived having it happen on top of him.

>Sentry
Million Exploding Suns makes him Nu52 tier.

>Plutonian
It's been awhile sense I read it, but doesn't his power depend on how much he knows about his power with him being able to warp reality if he actually knows what he's doing?
>>82063431
...Sort of. He was included in the group of Supermen in Superman Beyond 3-D. So he's kind of both.
>>
>>82063668
>I thought Birthright was New Earth's "canonical" origin? Either way he's weak enough to get his own tier. 40's Superman was able to withstand nukes. He even took pictures of them for the military. 90's Superman got KOed by exploding gas stations (Death of Superman).

Pretty much 100% agree with this, though I would place nu52 inbetween Golden Age and Post Crisis.

How do you guys think that the Thought Robot would go against beings like Lucifer and Michael? I assume he would beat them?
>>
>>82063724

If Superman is the good guy he will win. Just like Lucifer and micheal he is beyond power levels.

]Who could beat TR? Probably Batman on a wheelchair and the flu, obviously only if he is trying to help clark.

Archetypes play on another level.

I want to make a power chart of every Superman and Superman analog.

>Captain Marvel
Golden-Silver Age Marvel was basically Silver Age Superman. Pic related.

>Squadron Supreme Hyperion
If I remember the story right nukes could hurt him. That makes the poor bastard sub Golden Age.

>Supreme Power Hyperion
A bit stronger. He wasn't afraid of nukes at all and power bombed a giant crater on the North Pole. I'd put him between Nu52 and New Earth.

>Injustice
Very tricky. On one hand, yellow lantern ring and a list of powerful characters he's done in. On the other hand, jobbed to Wonder Woman. Not sure where he'd fit.

>>82063724
>Lucifer and Michael
The Mike Carey guys weren't -that- powerful. Lucifer needed dedicated raw material to create his creation that he got by breaking open Mike like a pinata, but I digress.

On the current model of the multiverse the Thought Robot operated on the monitor sphere while Heaven and Hell are on the sphere of the Gods equal to Dream and the 4th World.

The Robot was made to seal the flaw in monitor-mind that is the multiverse. It's literally a giant Superman around the DCU powered by the idea of Superman.
>>
>>82063754
>Very tricky. On one hand, yellow lantern ring and a list of powerful characters he's done in. On the other hand, jobbed to Wonder Woman. Not sure where he'd fit.

in between nu52 and golden age? He's definitely not post crisis levels, and I'd side with disco collar superman over injustice.
>>
>>82063751
So, uh, how do you write interesting stories with a character that cannot lose and is stronger than the entire universe?

>>82063799
why do you think he's only appeared in one comic?

He was used to fight the ultimate enemy and then essentially broke after doing so. It's not like superman can just 'power up' into this for ala super saiyan, whenever big bad of the week shows up.

The story itself was cyclical, the bad guy was responsible for creating the Thought Robot that defeated him to begin with.

..and it was a very interesting story.
>>
>>82063835
>for
*form
>>
>>82063799
I don't know, maybe we should read the story the character appeared in before asking questions next time.
>>
There's two schools of thought. Either Supes is at or near his peak right now and as he grows older he will slowly lose his strength from age. Or because he's a solar battery he will forever get more and more powerful and will never reach an actual peak. Been a long time since I've read it but I think Kingdom Come kind of hinted at that one.
>>
>>82063855
yeah KC did. He was immune to kryptonite, and even magic wasn't really that much of a danger to him any more.

There are way more stories of him becoming more powerful with age, then there are him becoming weaker, so that's the thing I usually go with.
>>
>>82063851
See the thing is that it sounds like a Really Boring Story, and your description of the character doesn't make me want to check it out at all. So he wins at everything forever, then? Not. A. Gripping. Suspense. Story.

Because its about the characters struggling to -get- to the thought robot basically. Think of it like GaoGaiGar Final. All the struggle is to hold on long enough to get Genesic, but once its out it murders everything with a sun hammer.

It's also a meta commentary on how writers and readers exploit fiction for a quick fix. Monitor vampires anon.
>>
>>82063963
It's no one's responsibility to convince you to find out more about the character you're criticizing based on very little actual evidence. But you could at least stop shoving uninformed opinions in other people's faces.
>>
>>82063968
I like to start people with Birthright, Escape from Bizarro World, and All-Star. I feel like it gives a good range for Superman stories.

Although I'm sort of biased with Escape from Bizarro World. I've always been a Bizarro fan, and on top of that its the best Pa Kent story.

Superman 1 is better. It has that story in its complete form and features Superman solving a war and trapping haughty one per-centers in a coal mind. It gives a great overview of Golden Age Superman as this kind of Socialist folk hero picaro.

I highly recommend looking at Superman 1 if only to see how he was back in the 30's and 40's.

>On the current model of the multiverse the Thought Robot operated on the monitor sphere while Heaven and Hell are on the sphere of the Gods equal to Dream and the 4th World.

One of the reason I hate Morrison with power of million exploding suns is that he shitted all over wonderfully created DC-Vertigo world which, unlike Marvel's included classic tropes with Silver City and YHWH being Creator on top of that just to push his pretentious meta-bullshit. Not that I don't see originality in this, regarding it's still capecomics, but I fucking hate it in Detective Comics Comics.
>>

eh I never had a problem with it. Yahweh himself stated that he was created by something, morrisons monitor stuff just explains what the something was.

There's always a bigger fish, and even the biggest fish, god, still isn't a big as the lake he swims in. Which in this case is the monitor mind/over void aka the page of the book.

nah "shaped by external forces", He states outright that He's infinite and eternal. But he was talking about experiencing things, that was the merit of his last talk with Lucifer. Anyway, this Platonic shit (again, nothing wrong with the idea itself) messed this up for me.

He also needs a lot of help to stop a falling Satellite in the beginning of the first Squadron Supreme mini.

>Very tricky. On one hand, yellow lantern ring and a list of powerful characters he's done in. On the other hand, jobbed to Wonder Woman. Not sure where he'd fit.

Injustice Superman seems to be suggested to be very weak or have general poor control of his powers compared to standard Superman. In the comic, even when he wore the classic uniform and was known as the world's greatest hero he broke a bicycle while attempting to fix it.

In the game, the Superman from a world that's more like the standard DC one basically walks all over the regime by himself. The regime counterparts also are all generally portrayed to be weaker than their real ones - and this seems to be much more relevant to the super powered ones. The two Batmen are closely match, but Wonder Woman beats the one from his world without being hurt at all.

Its honestly all because of that one we show where superman killed goku twice and the hosts who were dbz fans basically argued that goku was still the more relatable, human character to soften the sting. How a guy who thinks about nothing but fighting and eating can be more human than a country boy reporter is beyond me but it's what they believe.
>>
>>82069408
I don't know why dbz fags hate superman so much when they don't know anything about him. It seems like whenever there's a goku vs superman animation they make supes a huge asshole who gets his shit effortlessly kicked in.
