Aang ending Ozai's campaign was basically his peak achievement, so I always thought it'd be cool if LoK showed hints that Aang basically spent the rest of his life obsessing over those early years.
You change a lot from 12 to adulthood, so there'd probably be a major psychological effect on a guy who saved the entire world as a kid and then spent the rest of his life attending to duller political matters.
