I dunno, I think it was (and still is) a good response to people who talked shit on Supes being outdated. He seems boring and out of touch because he's "too powerful" or hasn't changed much over decades, but a humble, optimistic strongman always using his power to help others, even at the cost of his life, is the kind of hero the world will always need. Even when they think they're too cool for it.
