Does shipping ruin a shows likability?
>>81875606
No it just makes you not want to say you're a fan of the show openly
Yes.
>>81875606
>Does tumblr being tumblr ruin a tumblr-based show?
Yes.
>>81875606
Only "no lifers" care about shipping, and that goes for both the love and the hate.
To most people, Id say it doesnt affect the show at all.
>>81875606
Yes; See: Adventure Time.
>>81875606
Yes
>>81875606
It certainly ruins the fanbase. It only ruins the show if the writers are dumb enough to pander to the shipping fanbase. See: Arrow, Korra.

How shipping is done right?
>characters are not what you expected, note that opposites can attract but you can go with the basic and obvious ships too IF...
>They date and actually LEARN they like each other
>Have rocky relationship issues that aren't the focus of the episode and add more to its reality.
How not to ship
>Do it because you want to see two women dyke out
>Force it. Force it as much as possible. Even when the writing doesn't fit the situation, hint heavily at it. Almost needlessly.
>Make it canon because fans say so rather than the story leading to it.
It is not impossible to do if you take your time and ease into it.
>>81875606
It shouldn't. I've never had trouble separating the real thing from people's interpretations of it.
>>81875606
Does nothing for the show itself, but it makes the fanbase look worse. But it's not like you like a show just to get into a fanbase, right?
>>81876524
I think you can do the "wanting to see two women dyke out" without it being complete shit. It would just have to be tertiary characters; something on the side, not the main characters. If you just want lesbians, then the writing for the relationship is most likely not going to be very good, so just make it a token side thing.
If Eska and Desna had friends that just happened to be a lesbian couple and showed up in maybe two or three episodes in a non-critical role, then you could literally see "two women dyke out" for no apparent reason other than that and it wouldn't kill the story because it's barely a part of the story.Or I guess you could just write good characters.

>Tumblr invented shipping
>>81875606
Only if the writers start pandering towards the shipper audience.
The cancerous parts of the fanbase (fandom) are the parts that ship. The fandom doesn't ruin the subject but it does make me hesitant to publically be a fan or discuss the thing openly anywhere
>>81881128
>but it does make me hesitant to publically be a fan or discuss the thing openly anywhere
Nobody in the real world even gives a shit about the shipping or knows it exist. Do whatever you want or be a lame faggot.
I'm confused. Is this thread about relationship drama inserted into a series (i.e., Friends) or is it just about shipping (i.e., fans being fans)? People in this thread seem to be talking about two different things.
>>81875606
Hurts the fanbase's likeability more than anything.
>>81875606
>Does shipping ruin a shows likability?
It does if you feel what someone else does on their own affects your ability to enjoy something.
Writers forcing a shitty romance plot hurts the show. Just fans shipping characters, which happens with every show, has no effect on the show. If the show panders to fans the pandering is the problem not the shipping.
>>81875606
Constant shipping hurt's a fanbase's likeability like anon said.
Nothing but shipping makes the fanbase intolerable to be a part of. Can't have any discussions about the show.
Writers pandering to those who want the shipping make the show kind of shittier.
Writers doing constant ship teasing to fuel the fanbase is just annoying. I wish SU would stop doing that.
>>81875606
more pls
>>81875768
How's it tumblr based?
>>81875768
what
If you let what somebody does on the internet affect how much you enjoy something not on the internet then you're probably autistic.
>>81875768
What is a tumblr cartoon?
>>81876224
How?
>>81884929
>Writers doing constant ship teasing to fuel the fanbase is just annoying. I wish SU would stop doing that.
But it's hilarious because you know they're never going to go through with it. They're basically trolling the shippers.
>shows
>integrity
The what now?
Any show that doesn't have a defined ending planned has no integrity.
>>81887211
But SU does have a defined ending planned out.
>>81887295
That's good.
Fandoms ship. Fandoms are generally stupid, but since they keep the product alive, offending them can mean a show goes dead, no?
No because everyone knows shipfags are idiots who have no life that they must project idiotic scenarios to give meaning to theie useless lives
>>81887739
So, much like 4chan, only limited to relationships of fictional characters.
>>81887522
Only the really autistic one would get offended. Others would just laugh it off.
>>81888136
I'd wager modern audiences, especially of cartoons, contain a lot of "autists". Mostly due to upbringing, I'd think.
>>81875768
>>81875606
I keep seeing this pic but no follow up. Why is that?
>>81875606
w-what did she do in those slippers
>>81888360Kill a man.
>>81875606
shipping ruins everything
I'm OP, now I've realized this was kinda a stupid question but I'm glad I asked it.
>>81888421
Only if you let it.
>>81888386hot.
>>81888115
Exactly so but it still goes that its all not necessarily true
>>81875606
>>81888431
Well i'm flattered that you like my stuff ^^
>>81888877
>BigTyme posting
Yo you the manyou should do solo Pearl stuff
>>81888877
Great art. Nice numbers
>>81887006
English-motherfucker, do you read it?
>>81888877
Do more Vidalia x Prinyaka.
>>81887081
A shitty one, like SU
>>81889491
SU is not shit. We have PPG.
Basically, a tumblr cartoon is something you don't like.
>>81889358
I don't read buzzwords.
>>81889491
So literally all shitty cartoons are tumblr-based cartoons? Think about that for a bit.
>Shipping by writers
It can be good if it feels realistic and natural. But when everything else gets dragged down by the drama a relationship has, they need to stop. It killed Adventure Time, Regular Show, and was one of the many flaws in Korra for a while.
>Shipping by fans
Don't expect much, really. They either go along with what the writers say, or lose their collective fucking minds and just start pairing random people together, even if they clearly state they hate each other or something because "they're so CUTE together!"
>>81889400
>>81888961
hmmmm... i might, rabbit. i might. ;)
>>81890145
Basically this.
In-show shipping, if properly done, should basically be the cherry on top. Episodes don't revolve around it, it doesn't feel forced, it's just an extra dynamic between a couple characters.
I felt Kim Possible did it well, and everything other anon mentioned did it shittily. Haven't seen KP in years, though
>>81881482
That's a good valid question. So as by /co/ rules is going to be ignored.
>>81890145
Fandom shipping is done mostly for amusement or porn and has no effect in the show itself, if anyone actually is bothered by it is a huge fucking faggot.
On the other hand, when shipping actually derails any type of discussion about a show is fucking awful, and whoever does that should be burned.
>>81875606
Only if you're retarded.
>>81875606
Only if the writers go out of their way to cater to the shipping side of the fandom.
Shipping is in every fandom, so it's not inherently a bad thing.
>>81875606
Yes.
>>81892572
How?
Shipping is okay as long as it doesn't affect the writing of the actual show.
Like if the writers want a couple characters to get into a relationship, that's fine as long as it makes sense and they clearly like eachother. If they see fans are crying out for a specific ship and stick it in the show, that's bad.
Yes.
>>81875606
It can be. If 2 unlikeable characters get together. Like Cheetarah and Tygra. Ugh.
>>81875606
who cares? I want those tits.
>>81894709
>chubby desi milfs
muh dick
>>81894709
Yes....YES!
