It's really hard to have something that "epic," and norm-defying and then to ask us to accept going back to status quo immediately afterwards. I'd imagine that if you watched the show infrequently without tuning into every single episode, you'd have been fine but for me, I was just begging for something different to happen for once.

I loved the show up until the 2nd Dimension movie aired, after that the formulaic episodes started to get stale for me and I eventually stopped watching it regularly in like late 2012.
There were still some pretty good episodes after that, just once in a blue moon. I'm glad it ended before it got to Spongebob levels of bad.
