Well I mean.

The original animation was good but it's far from the best thing Disney produced.

It wouldn't be all that tough to top.

>What went wrong?

>The barely over an hour movie with forgettable songs and a fuckton of repeated animation that skips over a bunch of important things isn't as good as the monstrously budgeted remake that had a ton of time to work out the kinks.

Gee it's almost like a budget of 4 million couldn't quite pull off the spectacle of 175 million or something!
>>
Cause it is inferior.
>>
>>81864213
>What went wrong?
Don't know. Don't care. I love them both.
>>
>>81864213
The new film isn't very good. In fact, the Jungle Book franchise in general is unremarkable. I will never understand America's fascination with it.
>>
>>81866192
>The barely over an hour movie with forgettable songs
Hey now.

It had that one song.

Like a lot of the earlier Disney movies, TJB had a really meandering, unfocused plot.

Which one /co/?
>>
>>81864213
It's just more of the stock Disney animation of that particular era. I've never cared for it.

And it certainly doesn't help how much of The Jungle Book's animation wound up getting recycled.
>>
>>81864213

Monkey rasism
>>
>>81866612
This. Here's the truth about most of Disney's old animated movies.

There are a handful of greats pretty much make up the classics of the genre, some pretty good ones, some mediocre ones, and a whole lot of disposable ones.

Nobody's gonna rush to see a live action version of The Aristocats.

>>

>>81866638

The new one probably would have been better if it wasn't a minute long in the movie. Same with I wanna be like you, it felt like they didn't know whether it should be a musical or not.
>>
>>81866191
This is the best part of the movie
>>
>>81866192
>Forgettable songs
That's a lie and you know it Honest Trailers Guy. Also stop referring to sex as porking.
>>
Jungle book honestly is not that good a movie
maybe it was better in its days but even then it aged poorly at best
and it really doesn't help that as far as book adaptations go, it was a pretty piss-poor one
>>
>>81866482
Because Mowgli. When you live in a very sexually repressed society, you find alternate ways to express your sex drive, usually in a way that could plausibly be argued is nonsexual in nature. Mowgli is a delicious brown boy running around in a small loincloth (or in the original, naked). However, he is also running around having legitimate adventures and dealing with danger and allegories about whatever Kipling wanted to talk about. So you can claim you're watching it for the plot and funny animal characters and philosophical musings. Even if you're not.
>>
>>81866612
>earlier

The Jungle Book was made during Disney's cheap period, AKA the Xerox years. Their "earlier" films were almost all masterpieces.
>>
>>81864213
It is inferior.
>>
>>81867357
not saying the works weren't without their flaws, but even then the movie did absolutely nothing to address those flaws (don't tell me the movie isn't also unfocused and has a random mess of a story) while at the same time failing to meet any of the works' themes, massacring the characters and almost completely disregarding the story
>>
>>81867418
I consider everything before Walt's death "early".

I wouldn't say they were masterpieces of storytelling at all.
>>
>>81866191

BEST MOVIE
>>
>>81864213
>>81866192
Shit, if live action jungle book turned out good, then there's a chance that live action dumbo won't be either.
>>
I can't jerk off to this new Jungle Book, so it's inferior.

It's also explicitly not /co/. We don't discuss Pirates of the Caribbean here, why should we have threads to this? /tv/ please.
>>
>>81867548
Holy shit, does he?

The Christopher Walken orangutan sings I wanna be like you?
>>
>>81867682
He butchered the song IMO, and I like Walken but it's pretty... forced. Other than the song Louie is great.
>>
>>81867651
its based upon the animated movie, not upon the books while pirates was a movie based upon a theme park ride
if we couldn't discuss this then anything cape movie related also shouldn't be discussed
>>
>>81867651
>I can't jerk off to this new Jungle Book
You jerk it to older one?
>>
>>81867682

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15rUJuKCM90

It's only like a minute long in the movie.
>>
Do you realize how much repeated animation is in this movie?
>>
>>81867651
was there a Pirates animated feature that the films were based off of?
>>
>>81867651

It's an animated movie anon

Yeah, Jon helped raise live-action adaptation on Disney movies but Burton will bring it back down again.

So no.

>>81864213
It was always inferior to other adaptations
>>
>>81867256
just watched it. Can we invent a copyright violation to bring that channel down?
>>
Literally the only thing decent about the live action was Christopher Walken as King Louie, and you don't even get to hear the full song until the credits.
It has a mixed tone, and I honestly think it doesn't flow as well as the animated movie.
>>
really unimpressed by the trailers. i mean homeward bound looks more realistic and that had actual animals with a voice over.
>>
>>81867682

Louie's a gigantopithicus, the largest-ever species of ape, not an orangutan, in this.
>>
>>81866192
Are you forgeting to take inflation into account
>>
>>81869381

But they're extinct and have been since 100,000 years ago, way before the first human inhabitants.
>>
>>81869593

Also now thay i think about it, alpha male orangutans are solitary. Why would they live in a castle surronded by monkeys?
>>
Disney's already getting ready for a sequel

Well, where else would they practice their singing and dancing, you fucking autist.
>>
>>81869633
he's trying to be human because humans are sociable, he was lonely and that's his motivation. Unless it's different in the new movie in which case pls don't spoil

I guess no one told him that.

It always was considered inferior since it missed most of the point of the book and tried to go the easy whimsical route.

I'd say sometime in 2024

Animation ages. That's why no one talks about Beast Wars or Reboot anymore.
>>
>>81864213
Pretty much this >>81874012
I will also say that Disney was known for using old stock models to rehash them.
>>

This thread is retarded and so are you, OP.
>>
>>81864213

How can you compare two movies fifty years apart with a modern rating scale?
