most of them were good.

Dr. Manhattan, Ozy, Nite Owl, Minutemen, Rorsharc.

Not amazing as regular Watchmen but still pretty good, better than most comics out there today
>>

Minutemen's the best of all eight. You should read at least that.
>>
>>81845510

understatement of the fucking century. as stand alone series they might have been ok. as the prequel to the most acclaimed superhero comic of all time? come on.

it was a retarded idea to begin with, like making a prequel to The Godfather

I like masturbating and watching cartoons and comics because for me its like hiding in a invisibility blanket. The characters dont know I am secretly going into there underpants drawers and licking them nice and clean. When there are action scenes in cartoons i like to believe that I can smell my cartoon waifus and husbandos sweaty anus and vagina. For a minute if I believe really hard I can almost taste it! I then put my finger in my mouth and move it to my nose so I can sense the smell. I am glad that there will be a go-into-a-cartoon machine on the market soon. Ill have many adventures.

I'll give you Minutemen and Rorschach as being respectively good and alright if you forget that they are supposed to be connected to Watchmen. Silk Specter was also pretty good. But I must say that my opinion on them might be due because my expectations were really low.

I'm sort of a bit sad Brubaker's run lasted as long as it did. Like... it sort of peters out. I have all of the trades, but instead of a satisfying book end finale, it just trickles off into nothing. Plus that Winter Soldier volume was sad and kind of shitty.
>>
>>81846274
What do you mean? I've never read the comic. I just want to know if the attractive Silk Spectre (the daughter) is original to the comic or not. Wikipedia tells me no.
>>
>>81846405
Yeah his relaunch is legit fucking awful where he apparently just saw Inception and thought "Captain America should totally do something like this in a comic!" Even the Bucky in the Gulag shit wasn't great.
>>
>>81846753
>>81846405
So do you guys reccomend Brubaker's run of Cap? I looking to read more good Cap
>>
>>81847082

Very very much so. It's fantastic until sometime after Reborn. Hard to pin an exact moment, but it just winds down. But before that? Before that it was a good 60-70 or such issues of fantastic. It's chiefly spy fiction, as opposed to other runs that are more super hero or crazy Kirby stuff. Even when it "winds down" it never becomes BAD. Just lacking what made it so wonderful before.
>>
>>81847082
>>81847256

And actually, to elaborate, if you're thinking of reading Cap due to the films, Brubaker's run is a great thing to pick up. The films have taken most of their Bucky from them, as well as many other ideas and stylistic choices.
>>
>>81847082
I honestly think the entirety of it boring as all fuck but most of /co/ will disgrace with me. All of Brubaker's Marvel work is tremendously yawn inducing except for his bretty gud Winter Soldier solo.
>>
>>81845584
No; all the minis concluded. What did get canceled was a Before Watchmen special. They announced it would have work done by a bunch of creators (likely the ones who worked on the minis but it's unknown if they might've gotten other people as well) and conclude the Crimson Corsair story.

But I'd guess that Moloch and Dollar Bill specials (late additions while the series were still going on) were probably what the special was going to include.
>>
>>81847359
>>81847082
>>81847256
And actually, to elaborate, if you want good spy shit from Brubaker, read Sleeper.
>>
>>81845629
It could be but it wouldn't surprise me if it was due to a demand from WB since they saw huge sales on the Watchmen TPB in spite of the movie not doing as well as hoped at the box office.

Bru's cap is GOAT to good and I'd probably say when Bucky stops being Cap is when it dips in quality. But it's all Brubaker so keep reading if you like it, I don't think it ever has bad art.

>Also didn't this do so poorly that the last mini was cancelled mid-run?

No. Before Watchmen sold really well. They had big first issues and the rest sold at about 50,000. Even the Moloch one shot sold about 60,000
>>
>>81846338

I'd say Jimbats is a better example
>>
>>81845290

That's "It's time to shit.", right?
>>
>>81850424

>>
>>81848761
>No. Before Watchmen sold really well. They had big first issues and the rest sold at about 50,000. Even the Moloch one shot sold about 60,000

It really depends though. I mean just looking at the Rorschach book:

08/2012: Rorschach #1 of 4 -- 94,970
10/2012: Rorschach #2 of 4 -- 62,788 (-33.9%)
12/2012: Rorschach #3 of 4 -- 53,396 (-15.0%)
03/2014: Rorschach #4 of 4 -- 47,112 (-11.8%)

Now, comics usually lose sales over time, but a decent selling comic just loses sales in the single digit percentage. So while 40,000-50,000 is not neccesarily bad for something like Flash or Wonder Woman, those books only lose a small percentage of sales each issue.

06/2012: Comedian #1 of 6 -- 115,713
07/2012: Comedian #2 of 6 -- 70,762 (-38.9%)
09/2012: Comedian #3 of 6 -- 55,114 (-22.1%)
12/2012: Comedian #4 of 6 -- 50,073 (- 9.2%)
02/2013: Comedian #5 of 6 -- 44,393 (-11.3%)
04/2013: Comedian #6 of 6 -- 40,852 (- 8.0%)

08/2012: Dr. Manhattan #1 of 4 -- 86,197
10/2012: Dr. Manhattan #2 of 4 -- 57,226 (-33.6%)
12/2012: Dr. Manhattan #3 of 4 -- 48,909 (-14.5%)
02/2013: Dr. Manhattan #4 of 4 -- 43,273 (-11.5%)

It also doesn't help that with the debut issue, it means the retailers were trying to guess how much interest there would be for the books and over-ordered them (probably also to get those variants).
>>
>>81846459
You might be confused because the movie called her Laurie Jupiter. In the comic she used her mother's real, Polish name.
>>
>>81848761
>>81850564
Also:

>Even the Moloch one shot sold about 60,000

True, it did. And the second dropped to 41,500.

11/2012: Moloch #1 of 2 -- 65,876
12/2012: Moloch #2 of 2 -- 41,523 (-37.0%)

But that's kind of a problem when the initial BW comics were more than 80,000.

Dollar Bill, announced late in the run, had this much:

01/2013: Dollar Bill #1 -- 42,308

And remember this had a Jim Lee variant attached to it too. I think by that point they figured out not many people were going to buy this.

Other sales:

07/2012: Ozymandias #1 of 6 -- 98,011
08/2012: Ozymandias #2 of 6 -- 64,460 (-34.2%)
09/2012: Ozymandias #3 of 6 -- 52,280 (-18.9%)
11/2012: Ozymandias #4 of 6 -- 48,404 (- 7.4%)
01/2013: Ozymandias #5 of 6 -- 43,063 (-11.0%)

06/2012: Minutemen #1 of 6 -- 119,463
07/2012: Minutemen #2 of 6 -- 76,409 (-36.0%)
08/2012: Minutemen #3 of 6 -- 57,208 (-25.1%)
10/2012: Minutemen #4 of 6 -- 53,270 (- 6.9%)
12/2012: Minutemen #5 of 6 -- 47,627 (-10.6%)
01/2013: Minutemen #6 of 6 -- 44,027 (- 7.6%)

06/2012: Silk Spectre #1 of 4 -- 114,394
07/2012: Silk Spectre #2 of 4 -- 68,403 (-40.2%)
09/2012: Silk Spectre #3 of 4 -- 53,464 (-21.8%)
11/2012: Silk Spectre #4 of 4 -- 50,002 (- 6.5%)

06/2012: Nite Owl #1 of 4 -- 112,255
08/2012: Nite Owl #2 of 4 -- 66,290 (-41.0%)
09/2012: Nite Owl #3 of 4 -- 53,270 (-19.6%)
12/2012: Nite Owl #4 of 4 -- 46,928 (-11.9%)
