Man, having watched the final flash again, it's really gorgeous, both visually and musically. It's just a shame it's the last page of the comic because it ends up feeling disconnected at certain points. Just a few more things needed to be said for it to feel remotely complete, but instead it ends up feeling inconclusive and anticlimactic after a build up of seven fucking years, like Hussie saw 4/13 coming round and decided to rush things out of the door before looking over them one last time. Even the "Thanks for playing" feels more like it's a message from SBURB to the kids, rather than from Hussie to you.

Here's a playlist of all of Bill Bolin's music, which was cut from Homestuck around the time Act 4 ended. The reason was because Hussie posted a bunch of Bolin's work-in-progress to the actual comic in the Shut Up and Jam flash, which really pissed Bolin off. Apparently tension had been building for a long time behind the scenes, because eventually Bolin posted a huge rant about how Hussie was incredibly unprofessional about managing the team and giving them direction/respect, that he played favorites and so on. It ended with a photo of him flipping the team off. The post was deleted and the flashes replaced, but what with Homestuck's later debacles with WhatPumpkin and the music team it seems like there was a grain of truth to what he said.

So what happens to the two jujus once the fight is over? And the alpha kids are just stuck in the past on Caliborn's planet until the beta team bails them out? Thinking about it that way, there's no tension at all here. The beta kids eventually get released from the juju to fight LE with Vriska, and then warp their asses on over to pick up the west of the squad and resume what they were doing. There's nothing heroic or sacrificial about this, we just don't get to see them fight LE.
Unless of course the beta kids got turned into juju food, but that doesn't seem to be the case with their symbols on the house at the end. Not only that, but there's not really any reason for them to fight Caliborn and get juju'd in the first place. Most of homestuck's stable timeloops (from what I remember) have been pretty naturally occurring. This one feels like they're completing it because they simply know they're supposed to (do they know they're supposed to?).
