People forgetting that Han has used a lightsaber before in the movies.

Look how awkard he looks using it. Leia is the only one with any skill, which makes sense. Chewie is just thrashing.

And it's not like you have to be Force sensitive to use one, you just have to use the Force to use it to it's fullest. Finn used Anakin's as a battle knife/baton.
>>
>>81759841
Well, Han isn't really using it well.

Leia has the Force.

But Chewie should've accidentally killed everyone in a mile radius in a blind rage.

Basically it's something to complain about.
>>

What's Leia's canon bust size? The comics and even Rebels have them as pretty huge, despite Carrie taping them down for filming.
>>
>>81759703
They don't read the pages leading up to it to understand why it happens.

>>81759841
It's a regular fucking sword with a blade that can cut through most things. You don't need the force to be able to swing it around (see: Finn), just common sense and/or weapon training (again, see: Finn)
>>
>>81759841
>I just don't understand how they don't get shot
Because no one's guns are working there. That's why they're using the lightsabers in the first place.

>>
>>81760246

So what if its weightless? I can wave a flashlight in the general direction of something just fine. The idea that only Jedi can use a lightsaber because normies cut themselves up in an instant is retarded. Sure, going up against a serious enemy Jedi/Sith, nonsense. But just using it like a baseball bat to kill some useless stormtroopers? Whats the big deal?
>>
>>81759703
>you just have to use the Force to use it to it's fullest

Because peopel seem to think that you need to be force sensitive to use a lightsaber and that precognition is necessary in it's function. When really not all Jedi are precognitive, and those who are can't use it in a fight.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Vtj5YxDcCk&nohtml5
>>
>>81760246
"Using effectively" means twirling it and blocking blaster fire and shit like that. If you're just gonna swing it around like one would your average melee weapon you should be fine.
>>
>>81760788
You can't use it like a baseball bat because it has no weight. You have to use it like wiimote and hope you can guess where the blade part is and not accidentally cut into your own flesh

Now they just say they build up momentum quickly, and so you need to be trained or you'll slice a limb off.

But when you aren't in a situation where literally no weapons work, there's no reason the enemy can't just shoot you from outside of melee range.

>>
>>81771831
I admit, I only saw TFA once, but I recall her sucking. Like, she spent half the right running and avoiding, and the rest doing these awkward stabbing lunges.
>>
>>81771709
That's irrelevant. My point was, if they were easy to use, surely they'd be more common.

As far as I'm aware they're almost exclusively used by force users. Off the top of my head, the only lightsabre users i can think of that aren't contemporary force users, are grievous, who was a cyborg with lightsabre training, a force using clone of a jedi from the eu, and the concept art storm troopers. I'm sure I'm missing people.

What's the point of the weapon being a symbol of jedi/sith, if any random fuck can use one?
>>
>>81771929
Based on the context I've heard, they AREN'T easy to use, but it's either that or bare hands. Literally all of their weapons don't work, and the same goes for the enemy's. And they happen to be near nigh unblockable weapons that they just have to be careful with.
I'm assuming they're awkwardly flailing around, and actually suck with them, but chose that that's better than being unarmed.
>>
>>81771992
Hold on, would you rather fight unarmed, or with a weapon that could kill you if you're not careful?

I just always liked the idea that lightsabres had some sort of innate gyroscopic movement, so that if you weren't trained/concentrating, they could be dangerous to the user. It justified why only jedi/sith used them. I'll move with the times if i have to, but I'm allowed to be disappointed.

Han doesn't fight anyone with a lightsaber, tard, he nust uses it to cut open that beast. Obviously in a slow controlled manner any old normie could handle a ligtsaber. A fast paced fight is a different story.

>>81773262

There's a difference between standing in your room swinging it and using it effectively in a fight. No one's saying a normie instantly dies by turning a lightsaber on.
>>
Everyone's about to cut everyone else's everything into stupid little pieces because such an elegant weapon from a more civilised age is not safe for amateurs to handle.

It's like when you see lightsaber duels in the prequels. They fling them around like fucking ninjas when one false movement would literally mean decapitation. It's the equivalent of seeing a warrior running into battle with a big blade between his teeth. Or a knight with a huge cape. Yeah it looks cool. But when you think about it. It's really fucking dumb.

>>
Well it's not like if you swing the thing your hand will go far back enough for you to cut yourself, even if you did get close enough to burn yourself your body will react and try to turn the blade away before you're even consciously aware of any pain. It's only when you try the fancy shit like flips or spinning the lightsaber in your hand when you start risking that shit. If you're not force sensitive just don't be a retard and try any moves that'll turn the blade towards you.

>if they were easy to use, surely they'd be more common.

Depends on what you mean by "use". Doing the flipping, spinning, boomerang, and defecting blaster fire shit more than likely takes force sensitivity to do and consistently not injure yourself.

Just swinging it around though? You can do that no issues but the problem is you need to get close for that to do anything. Force users can either get close using the force to deflect fire or just throw the lightsaber boomerang style but normal people can't do that. So why not have a blaster and not have to get close in the first place?

The bigger question should be why don't lightbayonets exist for the time you do end up close to the enemy?
>>

I've never seen that page before, but yeah, that makes me a cringe a bit. It screams of fanfic bullshit.
>>
>>81772411
>Any dumbass could pick one up and turn it on though

This reminds me that back in Legends there were some lightsabers that had their buttons on the inside. So not only do you have to use the force to flip them on but you had to know where the button is and how much force to apply to it. Neat little idea I think.
>>
>>81772771
They have droids able to replicate the telekenetic use of the force. Lightsabers are just a machine same as any other, I'm sure if someone wanted to they could put them into mass production.
>>
>>81762292
Sorta.

The explanation is that Lightsabers, being plasma contained in a magnetic field, are weightless. However, all that plasma still has mass, and thus takes more force that you'd expect to get going, and to stop.

Changing directions would be a clumsy affair, as the blade gets "heavier" the faster you try to decelerate or accelerate it, and then quickly loses all feeling of mass once it's reached a constant speed.
A regular untrained user would find using one extremely counter intuitive compared to an ordinary weapon, and have a hard time knowing when to stop a swing, leading to many more self injuries.
This is why Jedi prefer continuous slashes and motions that let the blade carry itself, without attempting lots of hard switches. Their minor precog abilities help, as the blade can always be where they need it to be, but a vast majority of their ability is just training.
>>
It's all bullshit anyway. You might as well be arguing why don't any Lightsaber duels have one just turn their saber off and on midswing.
