But All Star Superman? DKR? Year One? All complete trash when compared to the source material.
Those stories aren't simply compelling narratives, they're also some of the finest story telling and artistry in cape comics. And when you attempt to match the bold inks and words of Frank Miller or Morrison/Quietly or David Mazuchelli with mud-colored, static anime, you get something half-assed and boring.

The clip completely lacks any of the stuff that made the scene in the comics so electric- the staging, the narration, the specific rhythm, the lurid colors- all removed and replaced with lifelessness.
The Killing Joke is an interesting tale, but it's one that's been a dozen times over the years in round about ways. Moore and Bolland's version remains so vivid, even decades later, because of the pure skill that was poured into the thing.
I don't care who you have producing or starring in the thing, it simply can't and won't hold a candle to the original- like a mediocre study of a famous painting, it's simply not fine art.
