The official title of the movie is reportedly SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING and the Vulture will be in it, but won't be the main villain.

Well, there's only only major villain left, Hobgoblin. And seriously, they don't want to do yet another Goblin, especially after Sony shit the bed with ASM2.

Now its time for the B-list guys. Chameleon, Mysterio, Scorpion, Vulture, etc. Maybe Mister Negative as a crimeboss if they wanted to go that angle.

Personally I thought Scorpion would be the best way to go, but whatever.

Not shittily done Venom would also be a good way to go to appeal to casuals too.

>Because that worked sssoooooo well for The Amazing Spider-Man 2!

Just because previous attempts got the execution wrong doesn't mean this one will.

Anyway, the issue with ASM2 wasn't multiple villains, it was that it was a very directionless film. There's an hour and a half in the middle where almost nothing notable happens.

Throw in the attachment to the 'what REALLY happened to my parents?' plot which was just misguided and you have a film with very little cohesion.

Weird thing is, it's not the worst possible cut of the film. One deleted scene had Peter's Dad turn out to have been alive the whole time.

There's a comic series called Ultimate Spider-Man that has a cartoon called Ultimate Spider-Man. And subsequently a spinoff comic based on the cartoon ALSO called Ultimate Spider-Man.

There's an Ultimate series comic called Ultimates that began in the early 2000s, and there's currently a new series published under the main Marvel line ALSO called Ultimates.

ASM2 didn't do that bad with the villains. Rhino was just a cameo; his issue was over-advertising.

The film's flaws lay elsewhere.

Now, Spider-Man 3 is a film that tried to make each of its villains too prominent, and suffered for it.

holy fucking what

They wasted Electro's one story Light The Night as if they quickly read a wikipedia summary of it. His motivation is literally Spider-man talked to me once for 20 seconds, now I hate him.

Then he fucks off for a hour so Harry can somehow run a company at 18 with a blood disease so he injects himself with spider venom that fucks up his face and puts on a robo suit that will somehow cure it and he murders Gwen for reasons.

Then we see him in prison in a not Goblin state and he gives Rhino a rhino mech that he would have absolute no idea how to control because he's functionally retarded.

Fuck off, ASM2 was an absolute shitpile.

Yes they did, but neither of those heroes need half of the screentime to develop an emotional connection to Peter, his friends/family and the villain. The joker is the easiest comic character to have explained, besides there is a distinct difference between having all of the villains work under the same main villain vs. having 2 or three separate storylines.

Also TDK and WS are the two best capeshit movies ever so to compare Spiderman's 6th try on a decent movie to them is kind of insulting.

OK. All I'm saying is multiple villains is hit or miss, even for the MCU, and spells certain doom for Spider-man movies. I'll never understand why /co/mrades put so much faith in a franchise that has produced one (1) movie that wasn't tremendously mediocre or flat out shit in the last 20 years. If you don't take every piece of news you hear from now to release with a grain of salt you are setting yourself up for disappointment.

Again.
>>
>>81747679
If Suicide Squad can be a successful movie, then the Sinister Six can. Sony wanted to do a Sinister Six movie (and a Venom movie as well, I guess) because they wanted to milk the shit out of Spider-Man, they still do. Spider-Man is their only comic book character they have access to so they're going to squeeze as many movies out as possible.

Tombstone is an albino black man.
>>
>>People saying there can't be more than one villain.
Just group the lower tier villains together as petty crooks.
Vulture, Shocker and Rhino could work as a group. The reason the other multiple villains things failed is because the villains were so radically unconnected.
>>
>>81749078
>he'll probably have the same role Rhino did in ASM2
You mean he'll be a completely pointless character (whose scenes could be removed and replaced with scenes that actually progress and enhance tge story) that only exists to set up th Sinister Six?

Oh Joy!
>>
>>81750262
There is a way to fix this, make the villains part of a group. Venom, Harry and Sandman all had their own goals and plots. Electro and Harry in AMS2 were completely different plots.

Will it be the Vulture we all know and love or will it be the Red Vulture from The Gauntlet run? I can see them having both in with Red Vulture being an apprentice of the previous Vulture.

I too would like Mister Negative, The Spot even, but I imagine the choreography for his fights would look weird. Freak could be cool but his powers often make writers run into corners and they don't really know what to do with him.
>>
You know what I would have liked for this new Spider-Man film? Have it be a "A day in the life of Peter Parker". Just have Peter try to survive the day, and show his interactions with his friends, enemies, and have him have to blow peopel off to stop a crime in progress. Don't make it a build up to her vs. villain, but Peter vs. the day. Fight Shocker in a scene, which causes trouble cause he missed class. Have him try to get to date Mary Jane, only to get ambushed by the Vulture along the way. That would make for a very fun and different flick.
>>
>>81749824
Plz leave Slott. No one cares about your OCs.
>>
Hopefully it's the sinster six and antman and wasp helps him take them down
>>
>>81750303
Or you could not use a billion villains to set up a shitty team of villains and instead focus on Peter Parker an his personal life while dealing with Spider-Man. Spider-Man punching Shocker and le explosions isn't what makes him Spider-Man, anon. Sigh, at least it use to.
>>
>>81750564
Sinister Six is the worst thing to happen to Spider-Man.

Marvel are basically in control of the movie before anyone worries

>“We’re working very much [together]. It is a— I don’t know exactly what the credits will be, but it is a Sony Pictures production of a Marvel Studios film. The agreement was that it is very much a Sony Pictures movie. Amy Pascal is co-producing it with us and [Sony Chairman] Tom Rothman is leading the charge for Sony and that we are the creative producers. We are the ones hiring the actor, introducing him in this film, and then working right now on the script and soon to be shooting the actual Spidey film.”
>>
>>81750633
look if we do it now we don't have to do it ever again
>>
>>81747856

First off, the Spider-Man movie rights are owned by Sony, dumbass. Second off, he isn't coming back to Marvel. Sony allowed Marvel to use him in other MCU movies. Sony is still making the solo Spider-Man films.

No.

>Homecoming was the title of the post-SW issue when Spidey first has the black suit

We've seen that in five fucking fims.
>>

PANIC!
>>
>>81750808
We saw it in 3. SPM1,2, and ASM.

ASM2 was about MUH PARENTS and building up the Sinister Six. SPM3 was about Harry, the Symbiote, and the Sandman killing Uncle Ben.

It's happening
>>
>>81750684
>Amy Pascal is co-producing it with us

I swear, hollywood has got to be one of the most backwards and idiotic places to work in. Ignoring all the covered up sex scandals and blatant money laundering which do happen and are way more serious than what I'm about to point out, how is a dumb incompetent fuck like Pascal still working at Sony after the emails got leaked? Seriously the woman is beyond fucking retarded. In a regular work environment she'd be fired on the spot and would be blacklisted for life.

Really, how do they do it? I don't wanna say jews, but fucking hell, it's them isn't it.
>>
>>81750684
>Amy Pascal

Fuck. No one at Sony knows what they're doing, especially these fucks. But Feige loves Spider-Man, and the director wants to go for a John Hughes style movie, so I'm still excited.
>>

I would love it if they hook Peter and MJ together.

Just for the sheer amount of Butthurt on Marvel and on Quesada, Slott, and Brevoort.

That's a good argument for this, not gonna lie. Id be happy with either Peter/MJ or Peter/Felicia. They both would fix stupid shit in the current comics.
>>
>>81752121

>being this out of the loop

Did you just wake up from a coma? You know Spider-Man is in fucking Civil War, right?

I feel like they could go a team-villain approach. Do Vulture, Chameleon, and Mysterio. Call them the Enforcers and have them hired to fuck Spider-Man's shit up. Hired by who? Kraven. To test Spider-Man's abilities before going in for the kill

Raimi would have done it for SM4 if he had the chance I bet. He even had Campbell play the Bouncer for the theatre for one of his cameos, so a bit of set-up was there

The real Enforcers could never work on film. I hate to be the one to have to break it to you.

God, I would really love a Scott Pilgrim vibe from the movie. It obviously doesn't need all the video game shit or as many visual gags, but that tone would fit Spider-man perfectly.
>>
>>81753402
>The real Enforcers could never work on film.
Yes they could.

Especially if its an organized crime oriented story. They obviously wouldn't be the central villains, but henchmen. You know, just like they are in the comics.
