Garnet can't because she's a fusion (she'll poof, Ruby and sapphire aren't developed enough), Jasper can't because she's the only "stone butch" gem (which are rarely potrayed sympathetically, no doubt SU will have her come around) not Amethyst because she's like a teen, and we don't know enough of YD yet for her getting shattered to mean something...as for Pearl, she's too good and integral a character though.
