Officially licenced Sonic porn would be a goldmine that could give Sega the capital to make a new console. And sure we might have to accept that this console would have a streaming service for furry porn but it's a small price to pay.
30 years after Sonic the Hedgehog.
Sonic is now 45, overweight and divorced.
Back in the 90s, Tails OD'd on some drugs Sonic sold him.
Season 1
Sonic has developed into a self-destructive man and can't hold down a job or living situation. Sonic Jr and Amy get kidnapped by Metal Sonic, and Sonic must put aside his apathy to rescue them. He fails, but Knuckles, Amy's new husband, collects all the chaos emeralds saves them.
Season 2
Knuckles persuades Amy to let Sonic Jr stay with Sonic on weekends, provided that Sonic abstains from drinking or having his junkie friends over at the same time. Things start well, but Sonic realises he doesn't really know Sonic Jr that well and that they don't have much in common. Sonic hangs himself, but Sonic Jr finds him and saves his life. Knuckles then tells Sonic that he'll never see Sonic Jr again.
Season 3
Sonic moves to Angel Island because of an increase in shared housing from a real estate scheme. The rent is low, but the neighbours are lowlife scum. Sonic fits right in. Knuckles, however, is unhappy with the development project and seeks to get the company off his island. Over the season, he uncovers a conspiracy leading straight to Robotnik. A hit is placed on him and he is assasinated by Team Chaotix.
Season 4
Amy turns to Sonic for help, but he is too depressed to help her. All he wants is for things to go back to the way they were in the 90s. The modern era was killing him. Amy has pity sex with Sonic and he gains a temporary morale boost. Sonic collects all the chaos emeralds and kills Team Chaotix, who are on Robotnik's payroll. He steals their documents and finds out about Robotnik's evil plan, the Death Egg II.
Sonic flies the Tornado to the Death Egg II. He lands it in a hangar bay and escapes just before it is destroyed by E-100 Series robots. He defeats Robotnik, but returns to Angel Island to find out Sonic Jr was last seen playing in the Tornado.

The TL;DR: a lose story arc about Sonic and Tails collecting emeralds and fighting Eggman's armada; this is used as an excuse to travel an uncharted, quiet, yet fantastical world, and occasionally relax or help out/fight other characters.
Individual episodes might go something like this:
>A warrior clan known as the Battle Kukus have conquered Coconut Island, and Sonic's disappeared. Tails has to overcome his dependence on Sonic and use the sparse bits of technology lying around to infiltrate their base.
>A lost temple might hold the path to a Chaos Emerald; the duo drag Knuckles along to uncover it, trying to reach the bottom before Eggbotnik does.
>Eggbotnik has conquered a carnival/casino/giant pinball machine, and has converted it into a deathtrap. Sonic leaps in to destroy it; Amy follows, partly out of concern, partly because she thinks there's a romantic atmosphere. The two hedgehogs need to overcome death-defying challenges to escape.
>A series of robot around Angel Island attract Sonic, who feels like he needs to help - but Knuckles gets territorial, and they disagree on what Robotnik's up to, so they alternate between grudgingly helping each other and competing.
>A frog swallowed a Chaos Emerald; Sonic, Tails, and Eggman all rush to grab it, while Big the Cat tries to convince them to relax for a bit. It turns out calming down and watching its behavior make the frog much easier to catch.

I would go with classic Sonic. Have it be about Sonic and Tails adventuring around in different zones and helping people and clashing with Dr. Eggman. Maybe have Knuckles fight them in the start and then he turns good after finding out Eggman has been manipulating him. Maybe have Amy in there somewhere. Design based on Sonic CD with some tweaks.
Doing parts of the Archie comic or just include the freedom fighters MIGHT also work.
Here are a few questions to consider:
Pudgy black-eyed Sonic, or lean green-eyed Sonic? Blue arms, peach arms, other colours?
How much of a cocky little shit is Sonic?And how much of this is an act to run from his insecurities?
Is Tails an inventor, innocent kid, or something between the two?
Eggman, or Robotnik? How threatening? How comedic? If there are any major henchmen, which ones?
Knuckles: disciplined guardian? Musclehead? Naive guy who just wants to do the right thing? Ally? Rival? Enemy? Does he chuckle?
Are the robots powered by animals (like the games), or is their flesh and fur turned to steel (like SatAM)? Are they like the Swatbots, E-100 series, Egg Pawns, old-fashioned Badniks, other, all of the above?
Does Sonic move a lot like AoStH/Underground, or stay in one place like SatAM/Boom?
How large is the main cast of characters? How about the side-characters?
Are humans involved (either realistic, Unleashed-style, or Madonna/Sara-esque)? Are animal buddies involved? How about the Chao?
How many OCs from other adaptations, if any?
Plots from the games, or original stories?
How much focus on action? How much focus on comedy? How much focus oncharacters relaxing together in cozy moments?
Does the story follow an arc, or are the episodes more self-contained with little continuity?
Which zones from the games or locations from other spinoffs need to make an appearance? How should they be involved?
Which music tracks from the games should be included, and which ones should stay the fuck away?
What would be your dream voice cast? How much would they interrupt each other?

Not an act and he is a heroic little dude that's all about speed and adventure. Does the right thing and is a little cocky but likable.
I guess kind of something inbetween. He really looks up to Sonic and is treated pretty much like a little brother. He is smart and somewhat of a mechanic/inventor/pilot.
Eggman can be threatening but kinda bumbly and humoristic in his own mad scientist way. No major henchmen. But maybe throw in Metal Sonic.
He starts out as an enemy since he was naive enough to be fooled by Eggman but he becomes an ally with some slight rivalry. He is probably not the smartest of them but he is not stupid.
Classic enemies from the early games. Trapped animals power them.
Travels between different zones but might have a base of operation somewhere where he keeps his plane?
Not too large ot a cast. Sonic, Tails, Eggman, Knuckles, Amy, Maybe Metal Sonic.
Probably no humans besides Eggman and no Chao
Not many if any OCs.
Plots from the games mixed with original stories.
Pretty action oriented with some humor and drama and so on. There are moments of calm and rest but most action and adventure, with a dash of humor.
There is continuity between some episodes and there are stand alone episodes. Maybe an overarching arc thing?
Cram in a bunch of the classic zones from the early games. Have them travel between them in some manner.
Try to include some of the classic Sonic music but let it have it's own score too.
I'm not sure about the voice cast.

These are both by me. The look would be pretty much classic Sonic but maybe tweak it slightly. I like the look of CD and the OVA but I also would like to draw inspiration from the coolness of Uekawa. But there are a lot of good Sonic artist so I guess I would try to bunch some stuff together and find a nice balance.
Soft reboot of SATAM and an adaptation of Archie Sonic from #160 onwards. Someone here pitched a show like this years back and its still my favorite concept for a new Sonic cartoon

Hire the writers from Sonic Boom and give it a much better budget.
No story arc bullshit. Let it follow the games loosely, with some SoL moments. Start off with Sonic and Eggman and then add Tails, Amy, Knuckles and so on as you go along. Let it be a comedy, and don't make anyone a punching bag or a blithering idiot for the sake of a running gag or a joke.
Have SEGA-related IP's pop up in an episode or so, either as cameos or focused on them(Ristar, NiGHTs, Billy Hatcher, etc). And put the Chaotix in, too.

Part of me's a bit confused about how we talk about game adaptations. Are we talking modern or classic? It seems people like the classics - myself included - but adapting them would involve stretching the thin plots of the main 4 games over several episodes, or doing things like

I mean, not that these would definitely be bad; Archie did a great job with Sonic the Fighters, and the 8-bit version of Sonic 2 made Tails' death scene pretty poignant. I just feel like it'd be hard to do without some additional material.
And if they're doing modern, isn't that pretty much what Sonic X already did? You'd just have to kill Chris and make Eggman use his walking mech.

Very yes. Even as someone who's a casual when it comes to SEGA, I know that their non-Sonic games don't get quite enough usage. Even just as background characters, I'd really like to see them.
My only concern is that the art styles might not mix well if you had, say, the Burning Rangers or the Crazy Taxi appear in Star Light Zone. But I guess it all depends on execution.

I'm pretty happy with how Boom turned out to be.
The only thing I'd change is I'd have Shadow only be dark and brooding around Sonic and Eggman because he secretly wants to seem cool around them. He'd be buddy-buddy with Amy and be awkward around anybody else.
As a recurring gag, Sonic would occasionally catch Shadow doing something cute and Shadow would try to cover it up.
Just imagine the fun scenes you could have from Shadow being an on/off edgelord:

Man, I had to ditch all my sonic comics years ago because I was a little shit and didn't know to collect stuff, and they were pretty much trash. But still, I had to have at least issue #40 to at least #175 in that mound, and I know for a fact I had Tails and a few knuckles spinoffs, as well as one or two hardcovers and those old origin books that was a sort of amalgamation of all the stories from when it started. One day I'll download all of it again and experience it, but I don't think I'm not quite ready for that yet. Also, I'm glad the current serialization is actually awesome, despite the fact Ibecame a mega fan during the Pendering.
