>Marvel Comics had seven of March's top ten best-selling titles, led by Jason Aaron and Leinil Francis Yu's Star Wars #17 at #3. Also in the top ten were series debuts Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev's International Iron Man #1 at #9 and Nick Spencer and Jesus Saiz's Avengers Standoff: Assault on Pleasant Hill Alpha at #10. DC Entertainment had two titles in the top ten; in addition to Batman #50, Gene Luen Yang and Howard Porter's Superman #50, the conclusion to the "Strange Dawn" story arc, ranked #4. Rounding out the top ten, BOOM! Studios' Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #1 ranked #2 for the month. Among the premier publishers, Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead #152 was Image Comics' top book for the month at #12; Dark Horse Comics' Fight Club 2 #10, the finale to Chuck Palahniuk's sequel to his novel, ranked #72; and IDW Publishing's Back to the Future #6 ranked #109 for the month.

Superman #50 on 4th? How did it jump so high?
>>
>>81587669
Go go power rangers
>>
>>81588044
Finale hype + movie.
>>
>Batman and Superman in the top 5

that's cool as hell, actually

>>81588044
#50 issue?

Also, this was the month of BvS's release, so it's possible comic shops had some incentive to buy the books roughly equally.
>>
>>81588044
I bought it and I don't usually because of the Savage Dawn ending, but that really is a dramatic leap
>>
>>81587669
Wait, Avengers Standoff started? What the hell is it about?
>>
>>81588032
>>BOOM: +2.13% (↑ one place)
Power Rangers sold that well?
>>

>What the hell is it about?

Thunderbolts: the Event
>>
>>81588397
Yes; about 100,000 initial orders were placed by retailers.

>not one Marvel comic had the first place in both CMX and Diamond charts for March 2016
>>
>>81588010
I don't think Loot crate stuff goes through diamond ordering?
>>
>>81587669
>Superman #50 at 4
huh... that's... weird, was it because of BvS? I heard the variant was pretty good looking but DC doesn't do Incentive Variants for their themed monthlies right?

>AVENGERS STANDOFF: ASSAULT ON PLEASANT HILL ALPHA #1 at Dead Last
hah, well at least people are starting to learn that events are shit, shame that they're doing on on one of Marvel's better events.
>>
>>81588044
It's a #50? Movie hype? The BvS variant?
>>
>>81588436
Good for them, really. They had neat covers with helmets.
>>81588460
Didn't they count Bendis' Iron Man?
>>
>>81588460
They did before but it might have changed

>>81588465
>DC doesn't do Incentive Variants for their themed monthlies right?

Correct, the BvS variants were freebies
>>
>>81588465
>I heard the variant was pretty good looking but DC doesn't do Incentive Variants for their themed monthlies right?
Iirc Superman and Batman #50 both had interlocking variants that looked really good, so it makes sense Superman 50 would have closer orders to Batman than it normally does

I think that was in addition to having polybagged variants which are apparently pretty popular
>>
>>81587669

>Superman #50 at 4th

Feels good man.
>>
>>81588517
ah that makes sense, interlocking variants. That would put the orders between them much closer. I know it's pretty pessimistic but it's better than thinking "Hey maybe people like Superman again" and being terribly wrong.
>>
>>81588436
>cmx
Comixology? Any link mah nigga?

Yes.

>>
>>81587669
>>81588436
eh, Civil War 2 is on the way, it's gonna be a massacre. Tie-Ins left and right with special incentive variants up the wazoo. And I doubt they really care, they got 7 books on the top 10. Though I'm gonna be more scared for them once Batman starts double shipping and manages to keep those numbers. I still can't believe how well Star Wars and Darth Vader still sells.
>>
>>81587697
it's just the Benis #1 Bump.
>>
>>81589388
So this summer in the Northern Hemisphere:
>Civil War II vs. Rebirth
>>
>>81589388
Civil War II will sell like crazy.
>>
>>81589388
Batman won't stay as high, King isn't a big enough name yet. But I'm guessing it won't drop a ton. Maybe 80k for each of the double shipped issues
>>
>>81589427
Guess what'll actually sell.
>Hint it's the one with the movie that just came out

Marvel events sell like hotcakes, and DC Rebirth can just as spectacularly flop just as much as DC You did with Secret Wars.

>>81589470
a lot of people are hyping up King, and I doubt majority of the Batman buyers actually care who's the writer as long as it's good..
>>
>>81589450
>#1 will be the best selling issue of the year

DC should've put more variants on Batman #1 to save us from this
>>
>>81589505
Yeah that it's the main Batbook will prevent it from dipping too much (like it's not going to be Daniel-era sales) but King isn't that popular yet and the fact that it's twice as many issues a month will have an effect.
>>
>>81589535
it won't matter since they won't be incentive based. From what I've seen, DC only puts incentive costs on B/W and Alternate Colors for some reason.

>DC Rebirth #1 80 Pages will be 2.99 and Civil War 2 #1 40 Pages will launch at $4.99 at the least and will still sell more.

Someone screencap this.
>>
>>81589470
Batman will take a dip, but All Star Batman will probably top most months.
>>
>>81589633
I forgot that was a thing.
>>
>>81589613
lol I forgot about Rebirth #1 and CW2 #1 coming out the same month

Yeah CW2 is definitely gonna sell more. More variants, pushed a lot more, movie with same name coming out.
The question is, how much more?
>>
>>81589665
And Rebirth got added to the preorders sheets late too. That will hurt it. I don't see Rebirth breaking even 200k.

Secret Wars #1 was 500k as a reference point.
>>
>>81589724
well 550k, I rounded down but that's a significant amount to handwave
>>
>>81589665
Yep just checked out the solicits. Civil War #0 will be 4.99 with 40 pages while #1 will be 5.99 with 56 pages. More affordable price be damned, fucking Deadpool got on the top ten at $10, nobody actually gives a fuck about prices anymore unless it's DC and they're raising it. Fuck I'm salty.
>>
>>81589861
Meanwhile DC is publishing the 80 page Rebirth special for 2.99
>>
>>81589505
Fortunately Rebirth isn't about boosting floppy sales
>>
>>81589917
Do you really think they don't care about floppy sales?

Because if they didn't they would keep all the shitty selling DCYou books and try to push the trades.
>>
>>81589917
They have Rebirth #1s coming out the same month as the normal #1s.

They most certainly want to boost floppy sales.
>>
>>81589917
doesn't matter. It'll be spun as a negative. DC You was about adding creator and story diversity and a lot of people hated it. A lot of people praise Marvel for their experimental books but literally all their experimental books have been the same cutesy quirky character that's really funny and cute or the ironically funny character that hates themselves and thrives off self deprecation.
>>
>>81589917
>>81589942
>>81589979
It's not really one or the other. Double-shipping has a dual effect of both replacing a monthly that didn't sell with an issue that will and putting out trades twice as fast.
>>
>>81590024
Those "experimental" books also have low sales.
>>
>>81590039
Yeah definitely.
Don't get why I keep seeing people implying DC doesn't care about floppies anymore.
Like sure, Didio said GN market is still growing and they want to get in on that, but they can't and won't just abandon floppies just yet.
>>
>>81590083
They're not abadoning the floppy market, but their primary focus is shifting to the bookstore trade market

You can even see it this week with the digital version of Wonder Woman Earth One coming when the bookstore release instead of the LCS release
>>
>>81590076
well no shit, read one you read them all. Just how different is Spider-Woman, is from Silk, and Spider-Gwen? What does Hellcat bring to the table that Squirrel Girl doesn't? Aren't these just retreads of Hawkeye and Ms Marvel?
>>
>>81590180
They wish they were as good as Hawkeye or Ms Marvel
>>
>>81590180
They certainly want them to be retreads of Hawkeye and Ms Marvel

Poor Lemire's Hawkeye isn't doing so hot compared to Fraction's.
>>
>>81590164

I don't disagree but I think that week gap is pretty standard
>>
>>81590224
it's already cancelled and there's talks of a Kate Bishop Book replacing it, so yeah.
>>
>>81590301
lol
>>
>>81590301
Poor Clint.
