ITT: HEX
A reminder to everybody that Hex is only begrudgingly apart of the Justice League because why would a renegade who is clearly out gunned say no to non humanoid creatures who fly and are immune to bullets
You could literally see him sulking when taking that League communicator
What the fuck is Hex gonna do he's hardly reliable and he's only useful in his own dimension.
>tfw it's been roughly a year and a half since we last felt the acrid smell of gunpowder.
Feels bad hombre.
>>81503016
Are we ever gonna get another JH comic?
>>81503759
After success of DCYou? Yep, totally.
>>81503759
If the rumors about the Vertigo relaunch are true I'd love to see some Hex comics come from there. DC should reach out to some Euro artists.
>>81503872
>more vertigo hex
Yes pls.
>>81503759
Jonah Hex seems to come and go. There was a gap of a few years between Hex (the weird future comic) and the Vertigo minis, then a few years more between that and the Gray/Palmiotti run.
We'll see Hex again, it's just a matter of when and who.
>>81503759
Unlikely. Maybe a special or two for events, or whenever Palmiotti gets bored of swimming in a pool of Harley Quinn money. Maybe Gray could try doing it solo, too. He wrote a pretty good Lone Ranger.
But I can't imagine Hex having another long run for a long while.
Only one I actually collect floppies of.
>>81504104
Hex is such a weird gem. It's like the perfect series to describe post Crisis to early 90's DC
> Do you think this comic will sell?
> Fuck it, let's publish it and see
>>81503016
>>81503759
Feels good and I hope not. Hex had a great send off. Just let the poor bastard lie
>>81504273
You know what, you're right, he's earned a few more years of rest.
Now where's my Tallulah Black ongoing to fill the DC western hole in my heart? Or mini? Or one-shot?
The vertigo imprints are a fucking gold mine for movie adaptations. To bad all we have got out of them is some shit Hex movie, A Constantine in name only and Wes Craven just jerking off in the swamp
>>81504373
>>81504273
If comic readers weren't such superhero loving plebs that hate anything fun we could do a follow up to All Star Western new 52 run. All Star Swashbuckling, Jonah Hex and Tallulah fighting sea monsters, pirates and Atlanteans on the high seas!
>>81504464
I'm not sure if he said it as a joke or if he was being real, but Palmiotti said in a convention that he actually did pitch Pirate Hex to DC after ASW was done. They weren't interested. Somehow.
>>81502998
Do you think Batman recruted him in the Justice League just 'cause he's happy to have a cowboy-themed, more sane version of Harvey Dent ?
>>81504537
>>81504464
Well now I'm sad
I *NEED* a Jonah Hex comic drawn by Frank Quietly before I die
Why isn't there a comprehensive list of Jonah Hex appearances?
>>81504537
>Hex without the scars
WHAT
>>81504186
Mad Max was popular, so it wasn't that much of a stretch.
Literally the best character DC has. seeing him in Modern Day DC was great
>>81508177
He went to the future and got cosmetic surgery.
And guns.
okay, so I tried reading nu52 ASW, and I came to the conclusion that the universe hates me because I couldn't find Issue #24
Odd that he isn't used those Vertigo anthologies more. They'd probably sell a bit more if there was some level of using familiar characters in them.
Westerns are dead, the men in tights killed him. Anyone watch "Gunslingers" on AHC? There was a time I was hooked on Western documentaries like Wild West Tech.
I agree to the idea of hooking up Jonah Hex with Euro artists. The Jordi Bernet drawn comics in the Gray/Palmiotti run were very strong.
There are still Spanish, Argentine, and Italian artists out there who are steeped in the Western and adventure comics tradition, and who can draw Jonah Hex in the gritty Spaghetti style. Carlos Ezquerra?
Hopefully they change his Confederate origins.
>>81513317
I welcome the discussion however. Hex was also with the bluecoats at some point, as well as the Apache. From that point of view, a Hex comic doesn't need to have Confederate regalia in it (and not all of them do.)
Reminder that there is a 12 minuts cartoon (DC Showcase: Jonah Hex) and it kicks ass
Jonah Hex should have been the easiest adaptation to film. I haven't seen the film, but I remember the trailers leaving a bad taste in my mouth. It should have simply been a straight western and string together of few of his stories. Instead Warner had to sell it as a superhero western which is fucking stupid.
>>81513262
>Ezquerra on Hex
Give me a fucking heart attack while you're at it.
Also, I'd like to see Leonardo Manco and Leandro Fernandez try their hands at it. Or a second Risso story.
>>81513317
>>81513879
I hope not for the sole reason that the western characters always look cool wearing confederate double breasted jackets/coats
>>81509385
he went back to SAAs when he went back, didn't he?
>>81513317
Are you retarded? It's integral to his character. He never forgets that he fought for the wrong side.
>>81514950
Old habits die hard.
>>81514273
I haven't seen it either. Josh Brolin says that the crew reshot 66 pages of script in 12 days which suggests it was rushed.
LoT Jonah
>>81515884
No bug eye, 5/10
>>81515945
I feel they may have been using the Quitely cover for V2 #1 for inspiration, since it's less bug-eyed and more of a drooping burn lower eyelid. At any rate, I can dig it. Looks way more gruesome than the movie one.
>>81515884
Hilarious how this'll end up being the definitive live action Hex since he'll only be the second actor to play him.
>>81515884
Is that the same guy who played Trevor in GTA V?
>>81515884
The mark of the demon looks ok, could be uglier (or would that be too similar to Two Face? The eye, I'm not sure about. I'd like to see the uniform.
As >>81516539 says, more people will become familiar with this Hex than the movie. I have enjoyed watching LOT more than recent Arrow/Flash episodes, so I am confident that this Hex will not be a travesty.
Hex recommendations pls
>>81518758
Everything you can get your hands on.
I want a cyberpunk elseworlds story featuring a lead character called Jonah Hax, just for the pun.
>>81519054
brandon is that you
>>81518758
Everything. New 52 is great. Vertigo Hex is phenomenal. "Hex" where he goes to the future is very 80s rad.
>>81504388
I'd rather there be ananimatedtv series.
>>81518758
It's not easy to come across and it's never been reprinted but the "Jonah Hex Special" from 1978 has The Last Bounty Hunter which is the epic tale of Jonah's death. One of the two or three best things DC ever published.
>>81519396
Hear hear.
>>81518758
If you want something modern, start with Jonah Hex v2, by Palmiotti and Gray. If you can stomach classic bronze age stuff, check out the DC Showcase Hex volumes. And if you want some weird with your western, look up the Shadows West TPB by Tim Truman. They're all great starting points.
>Bone Tomahawk is the closest we'll ever get to a Jonah Hex movie
Here are my little odd appearances.
Thomas Jane would've done a much better job.
Here is a short 4 page storytime coming up, a little curiosity from Albano and Dezuniga for a humour mag, 1976.
>>81521973
Albano and Dezuniga did the early Jonah Hex stories before Max Fleisher - in a less cartoony style of course. This is a nice little curiosity for your Hex folders however.
>>81521890
What zine though?
>>81522041
"Plop!"
>>81522016
>Max Fleisher
Much as I'd love to see some gorgeous rotoscoped 40s Hex animated shorts, you're probably thinking of Michael Fleisher.
>>81522249
Cool thanks Jud.
>>81522041
Amazing World of DC Comics #13 (cover dated October, 1976.)
The webpage I ripped the scans from says that the strip was conceived or made earlier than that for Zany!, an aborted DC satirical magazine.
>>81522287
Oh ok cool thank you.
>>81522249
Was this story introduced by Cain or Abel by any chance?
>>81522277
Wait no, hold on, I got it wrong. This is right: >>81522287
>>81522249
this isn't the first time i have confused michael/max fleisher either.
the price of excellence is eternal vigilance.
Any links for the Vertigo Jonah Hex volumes?
>>81515884
Another picture
>>81523451
Thank god they're keeping the confederate uniform after that heavy handed 1950s WHITES ARE EVIL! episode.
>>81515945
I once heard that it's impossible to do the bug-eye with practical effects without blinding the actor.
>>81520506
why are cain and abel on a camel?
>>81519108
Dunno who that is. Friend of yours, or are we talking about some web celebrity?
>>81525151
I can believe that.
>>81522326
Cain was introduced in House of Mystery and Abel was introduced in House of Secrets. But Cain and Abel did host Plop! along with Eve.
>>81525496
Never mind, I'm retarded and can't read.
