I just spent time on Twitter arguing on behalf of Deathstroke and I don't even like Deathstroke

But at one point someone said I am thinking of violent antiheroes and there are too many to mention." and I tried listing them off, and how many starring-in-an-action-oriented-book violent anti-heroes are there right now?

Missed a quote, there:

"I am thinking of violent antiheroes and there are too many to mention." is 100% something that requires a list to justify.

The Deathstroke rant was occasioned by yet another person saying "It's awful that LOWW won't continue [even though they said they don't know yet they're just being pessimistic] but there's a Deathstroke book. Who cares about Deathstroke?"

>>81491273
that's a good start; I think Deadpool and Harley both slide into a bit different niche because of the humor/fourth-wall factor. Griffles counted but got canceled; I guess Red Hood counts, but that's a team book and I don't know how anti- the hero is these days.
>>
>>81491273
And the latter are played more for comedy rather than trying to be hardasses like the typical antihero
>>
>>81491273
Laura is not really an antihero, is she?

Deadpool seems right and I suppose RHATO counts? Harley isn't really an anti-hero in her solo, I guess you could argue that she is in Suicide Squad

Would Midnighter count as an anti-hero?

Middy and Deathstroke are some pretty close demographics/niches, IMO. I myself would angle them differently by playing on the crazy sci-fi stuff with Middy and other WSers as his supporting cast, and being more real-world gritty with Mr. Stroke.
>>
>>81491402
Are Deadpool and Harley in action books?
>>
>>81491308
I'm in the camp that doesn't care about Deathstroke but cares about Priest doing Big Two work, so yeah.

I'd usually add Punisher to that list but is he even in anything right now? Ditto the more Liefeldian X-Men (although that is an era I haven't read much of, and I'm not really following the current X-line so I can't really comment on that anyway).
>>
>>81491308
And I see I was right >>81491286

It sucks about LoWW, but I don't see why you would target Deathstroke given that Priest is a good writer and actively wants to do it for his first comics job in years. At least point to a more obviously shitty book that doesn't sell if you're going to complain.

Anyway I find it difficult to empathize with people who say shit like that since there are so many comics that exist now so it's mostly a matter of finding what you want and supporting it if you like it, and broadening your horizons to other genres, characters, and publishers
>>
>>81491286
Yeah, blaming Deathstroke for LOWW not getting a sequel is pretty nonsensical because they are two completely different books with disparate audiences

Right, the thing is that the LOWW creative kind of went nuclear on the "we haven't been picked up and we think we won't be, call DC and complain" front. And it's been couched very heavily in the language of FOR GREAT JUSTICE/new audiences/etc.--which may be fair, may not, I don't know.

Okay, we missed some shit, so here it goes:

>A year after the events of Infinite Crisis, Captain Comet was captured and tortured by Lady Styx, forcing him to jettison his primary consciousness from his body before death.[35] His psychic self merged briefly with that of The Weird, which had been drifting in space since his death,[36] and both were revived in new bodies.[31] Captain Comet's new body re-formed at Hardcore Station - with golden eyes, a 20-year-old's physique, and the ability to teleport, although he had lost some strength. Shortening his name to Comet and fostering the misconception that he was his own nephew, he searched for the remains of his old body on Hardcore Station, discovering that it had been stolen by the Eternal Light Corporation Church and he was being hunted by a team of their telepathic assassins.

He does a lot better with old-school narration boxes, the man's not too good at propelling a scene through dialogue alone.
>>
>>81492039
I dunno. Like what's happening is cool (and just inherently really metal and high concept thematically while being a low concept issue, so +++ some points there) and I don't think it's bad as such but it's pretty much just a dialogue except the characters are fighting a bunch while it's happening. The action is still pretty static because it doesn't flow from scene to scene.

There are some nice parts where the art does impart motion, usually with the hammer, and the title page is fantastic. But it's like a B for me at best in terms of action on that issue.

If you mean in terms of integrating action and dialogue/character work then yeah, it's limiting. But frankly sometimes I think you just have to cut loose and devote the pages to a good flowing action scene. The first issue of BW did this well. Moon Knight did it well and did character work at the same time. Karnak doesn't do it well.
>>

I don't use makeup at all, I'm just a bit lazy about proper delicate face washing and I am too goddamn old to be getting zits and I am

huh, I'll have to dig it out and give it a try

I've gotten much better at cleaning my face regularly and it's helped with my breakouts a lot but going a little further won't hurt

Some do. Others just flat out refuse to acknowledge them. Grandma is the latter of the two.

Point is, despite believing in some goofy bullshit, she's a completely harmless christfag, and part of the reason I feel Adam is out of line here. I mean shit, Lady Styx is deader than disco if I remember my 52 properly.

WWEO is one of those things I'm gonna have mixed feelings about. On the one hand, I miss Wondy comics exploring issues. On the other, Grant Morrison. Still haven't forgotten Mother of Champions, ugh.

Black Steve really doesn't look at all like a black version of Steve. It's weird.

In fiction, all Black Men must look the same.

Don't hang up on Vril, he might make the comic interesting!

I don't really care about race swapping in general but the intent behind doing it with Steve in WWEO seems kind of iffy

I guess I'll have to read it and decide but yeah just going by looks alone they kinda missed the mark on Steve

Are you trying to tell me the Flintstones are NOT a documentary?

Adult acne sucks. It's funny, tho, I only got serious about washing my face regularly since I started wearing makeup. But it's that habit of being thorough, daily, that's the only shit that really made a dent.

AHAs and BHAs and benzoyl peroxide work for some, but my mom used the last one for years and it didn't seem to help.

Man it's so evidently so can set up a shocking little scene with the slave collar. Morrison isn't above that.

It's not super-bad, but it's annoying

I've tried to get better about moisturizing at night, too, especially with the sun here like what it is
>>
>>81494471
well yeah obviously but I mean how extended is this metaphor going to go? if he just swapped Steve for that ONE low hanging scene that's kinda silly

the bit I'm kind of interested about that I've seen so far in WWEO is the contrast between the Island of Fit Supermodels Amazons and normal human women who don't happen to be able to be perfect like that.
