LOWW writer is being kinda unprofessional on twitter, I get that she's upset but whining and pleading with readers to do something about it isn't going to help at all

Yeah they had He-Man meet Superboy I'm sure. Also Flash Gordon.

I'm not big up on Hawkman but there are bits and pieces of fluff all over like:
>He also discovered a hidden kingdom of sentient birds led by the old One-Eye, who taught him their language and later sacrificed himself to save the Hawkman's life.
That make me think a modern run on him (even a revisionist one like Immortal Iron Fist) would be fucking wild.

Being reasonable, the rings have a fantastic amount of energy in them right? AFAIK sometimes It's just a huge but plot convenient amount and other times it's a limitless amount, but runs out if it doesn't get the lantern hook-up regularly.

Green Lanterns are able to control that energy in any form so it's not completely ridiculous it could be used for terraforming.

the main problem has always been the Guardians always tried to keep a close check on what the corps where doing with their rings, fly to close to the sun and they'd slap em down and attempt to erase the memory and history of said corpsman from the glc

Good examples
>both Lobo and Vril being banned from getting a ring for fear of essentially jailbreaking the rings through their willpower and turning their tools of "peace" into wmds
>Sinestro and every single level of fuckery he's down with power rings both in green and yellow flavors
>Hal killing Korna even with the block to keep green rings from killing guardians in place

At this point, it's not unreasonable to ask why the hell DC even bothers with niche stuff. None of the non-A-list titles ever sell well, and even among the A-list, the only profit comes from Batman and Superman. They should conduct and experiment where they just throw up their hands and say "fuck it", and cancel all books that aren't Batman and Superman. Just to see what the fuck would happen.
>>
Right before Flashpoint DC came out with the Weird Worlds mini.

>lobo story
>story introducing GarbageMan a not Swampthing clone who lived in Gotham
>Story introducing Tanga the space alien

Apparently GarbageMan was to be a recurring chracter befroe Swampthing was allowed back into DC with Brightest Day and Tanga was to be a new cosmic character that was to encounter other cosmic characters but was indefinitely shelved.

Pity about em both, Tanga especially had potential

>At this point, it's not unreasonable to ask why the hell DC even bothers with niche stuff.
oh, that reminds me of this article I came across today

http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/the-mission-the-death-and-rebirth-of-dc-comics

>For something to be reborn, it must have died. Since the rebirth is upon us, from our perspective, the DC Comics superhero universe is dead. Knowing this, we are compelled to ask ourselves: "When did DC Comics die?"

>I'm not excited. I am an idealistic sucker. I know there are good people working at DC Comics, busting their humps on a regular basis, fighting every day against unfavorable industry perception.

>"Challengers of the Unknown." "Doom Patrol." "Kamandi." "Legion of Super-Heroes."

>Where are such titles and ideas in the "Rebirth" lineup?

>Where is that feeling of wonder which once defined the DC superhero universe, but has been missing for some time?

>It's still there, in the husk of the DC Universe. A dead thing, supposedly being reborn in weeks to come. I know that a lot of people are getting tired, tired of believing that DC Comics will embrace its legacy with love and pride, with open-mindedness, with an abandonment of hubris, with open hands to more visionary creators to produce without fear of having their ideas choked in the crib.

And Spider-Women, which Julia probably isn't in, which blows...

You wanna know how many non-Superman and non-Batman related stuff there was?

Not a lot at all.
Like it was Justice League members, Teen Titans, a small handful of c-listers and b-listers, and Vertigo books.

I kid you not, Batbooks and Superbooks took up like 70% of that output. And the overwhelming majority of them were the exact same thing. Batman, 'Tec, LOTDK, Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, etc.

And people dare to cry about them taking up tons of books nowadays despite how varied they are now.

Yeah. They need to study the shit out of Ms. Marvel, and what she did right that others don't, and not just "different art style" or "not another white guy lead".

Morrison gets a HUGE blindspot for lots of comic journos, even nominally aware ones. There's only a couple in this realm I'd take at face value when it comes to talking about Grant's work. Not because "he's too smart", but because so few are willing or able to seriously engage his problems.

They did the same with female Thor and her book is still selling great too.
Like going on the view, colbert, etc.

But after a while it becomes "oh, they're doing it again" or with Hellcat and the like it's just "oh it's just a white girl headlining a book". They didn't even push Captain Falcon, Chulk, or Hellcat half as hard as Thor or Kamala.

yeah I only saw "if you got mad at Thor you'll HATE this" but it didn't seem like they tried beyond that initial tease because everyone fucking knew it was him from the start based on the creative team

It's not so much that I hate Kyle himself although he is easy to poke fun at but I fucking hate the kind of shit they do to other characters around him and it makes me not want to read him at all

Throwing Kyle and Carol together as a relationship is just like the worst idea.

Plus, god, they'd be so much more fun as young energetic dipshit being semi-pals with overworked and overexperienced woman with too much shit to put up with?

Yeah that's a pretty fair cop. Hal went nuts and died. Alan in the middle of a great big fuck off Crisis retired. Not sure what became of Guy and John. Think Arisia was murdered. And Hal happened to pretty much everyone else.
