They definitely have had the most development of the gems by far, excluding Steven. Peridot hasn't been around as long but she's had a ton of episodes dedicated to her.
After them is Garnet and then Amethyst, who out of the CGs is easily the least developed, despite Peridot being a much more recent addition. Amethyst really needs some development, although the leaked episode titles make it look like she'll be getting some.
Lapis had a surprising amount of development given how little she's been around, but she's still not as developed as any of the current CGs. Now Jasper's clearly at the bottom here, she's had less than 5 minutes of dialogue to date.

Peridot might be the punching-bag/center of some meme jokes sometimes, but people often forget about her actual interesting character traits. I think her curious nature and childlike wonder are very touching. She's really eager to understand everything and everyone around her, even if it clashes with the Homeworld views she has only known so far. There's also her persistence to remain as objective as possible, not letting emotions or feelings overwhelm in time when rational decisions need to be made. She might get affected by the heat of the moment too sometimes (e.g. outburst against YD), but it's a nice counterbalance to the CG who really let emotions get the better of them, especially when they rush themselves into battle without thinking things through. I think once she gains more confidence in herself (since she can't rely on her limb enhancers anymore/temporarily), she could become a valuable member of the CG. Mostly for her technical skills, but she seems pretty intelligent too.

So I made a small mention of her being possibly very intelligent and I'd like to go deeper into this topic to begin with. Her curious nature is definitely a signal for eagerness to learn and actively seeking for ways to improve her general knowledge. Whenever we see this curious and inquisitive nature captivate her completely (which happens quite often), we could also see what a fast learner she is. Even if she isn't actively searching for new knowledge and confronted by something new, she seems to adapt to it extremely fast. E.g. even before she was forced to work together with the CG, there was already this small moment where she copied Steven's taunt. Steven obviously likes to teach her kind gestures and it seems she picked up on those quickly as well (although with some grumbles). She's also able to work with archaic technology without having worked with it before (either old gem or earth tech). Another example is her being able to find patterns and structures easily (see Camp Pining Hearts). And hey she was able to escape the CG for a long time too while being outnumbered (one could argue the CG were not in their A-game during the time of the chase). Lastly she has an Absolute Pitch as we've seen with 'Peace & Love' (also arguable since AP doesn't necessarily have to be related to intelligence). Sometimes her spastic anger tantrums or nervous scaredy behavior seem to overshadow her general intelligence though, but nobody is flawless. Anyway I wouldn't be surprised if that clever brain of hers is going to focus on finding a solution to get the corrupted gems back to normal eventually. Heck there is an upcoming title called "Gem Harvest" and I remember her fear of being harvested herself in Catch and Release. She might want to compete with Rose's legacy, who once tried to heal the corrupted gems"

The way I look at it, Peridot has the potential to become the most humanized of the gems, because she's mentally young enough not absorb all this NEW that she's surrounded by like a sponge.
