I assume the general consensus of Crossed on /co/ is that it's either shit tier or at least jumped the shark long ago. Either way I know no one really gives a fuck about it anymore but I just recently read it all and really want to discuss it. Sorry I'm late.
Overall I enjoyed it way more than I ever did The Walking Dead (which I've watched since the beginning because I like zombies but is definitely a bad show). I enjoy Crossed for the same reasons but the depravity of the Crossed really does make the atmosphere more interesting. I'm seriously not an edgelord or anything, I totally understand that people would write Crossed off because of the gore/edginess but the series definitely has value despite it. The original run was my favorite and it kept the gore to as much a minimum as possible with the premise it had.
I don't anticipate much more value to come out of it, there's no way +100 will ever wrap up in a satisfactory way and Badlands at it's best is only okay. Despite my enjoyment of it I don't think the series is good enough that I would expect anyone to read Family Values, Psychopath or most arcs Badlands and want to continue. but what's everyone's opinion on the original run and Wish You Were Here and what other comics would I like if I enjoyed Crossed enough to read all of it?
+100 is decent but the idiot speak is pretty annoying. I'd read a series about Beau Salt and his followers instantly.

I wouldn't have read all of Crossed if I hated gore. It especially made sense in Psychopath, I thought it was bad for the story/writing.
Crossed is too cartoony/over the top for the gore to shock or bother me personally but I could see it being a turnoff to the average person.
Also if anyone is reading this and thinking "What an idiot, Crossed is just a shittier _________" then please tell me what that is because I'll probably like it. I sincerely enjoyed all of Crossed and don't know anything about comics.
However bad it is I could read any story about day 1 of a Crossed apocalypse. Maybe I am a bit of an edgelord because I can't help but enjoy the ridiculousness of the sheer scale of carnage/awfulness.

I thought the Badlands arcs about Amanda from Psychopath were really bad. The Livers were briefly interesting/entertaining but overall both arcs about her were pointless. 19/20 and 37-39 are worth finding online if you're bored and like Crossed but I wouldn't buy them. 71-74 (Five Bloody Fingers) was pretty decent if you don't mind that it's trying to be anime. Otherwise you're spot on.
What I want to know is how can Psychopath be written by the same guy who does fucking Stray Bullets?

With the premise it has there's always gonna be a bunch of edgy shit but the good parts of Crossed are when the gore/shock value isn't the focal point. If you like The Walking Dead I would check out the original run by Garth Ennis and the webcomic Wish You Were Here which is online for free. The rest of it has enough borderline gore porn (not to mention shitty writing) that I wouldn't recommend it but that doesn't bother me.
Are there any obvious recommendations for someone who likes Crossed? I don't know much about comics at all.
