The point of the no-kill rule is maximizing the chances criminals are brought to justice through the system. It's the same reason police attempt to arrest you instead of shoot you, but will shoot you if you are actively about to kill someone. Batman is just more capable of taking his enemy down without deliberate lethality. It's within his character to react to an unintentional death by sticking more closely to nonlethal methods, even if lethal would be "safer" for victims. If anything Bruce is stubborn, that's why he is SO against using guns, etc. It can be viewed as a flaw or a virtue, that's why Batman has been interpreted so many ways.
