I think it has to do with the fur and the new technology put into the animation. Honestly, this doesn't bother me too much but I can see why some people might be a bit peeved that this is coming to light so soon after it was released.

Look on the bright side, at least it isn't as obnoxious as the Academy presenting a 'deconstruction' of Big Hero 6... i.e. their half-assed attempt to justify them giving it an Oscar.

So some of you want a seasonal Zootopia TV-show.
Others have concerns over the quality of such project. It obviously won't look as good as the actual movie or Zootopia 2.

But how about a mini series? Higher standard and room for stories that can't be put in a normal Disney cartoon.
Or Disney could make it like WB and hire anime studios to make shorts. Zooanime.
>>
>>81271837
I want a House of Cards-style Zootopia series depicting the corrupt and cut-throat tactics at the heart of Zootopian politics. They could probably do that in a mini-series.

After spending my long weekend not doing much of anything else, I've almost finished the rigging and python scripting for this model. The deformations look great for the most part now, so now I just need to add corrective blend shapes for the ears and cheeks. I hope to have it done and released in a couple days.

>>81271682
Yeah, the hair detail is fantastic. The technology isn't all that groundbreaking, at least compared to what they did for Tangled of Frozen. From what I saw of their hair tech video, a decent amount of in house tools and plugins exist that can do similar things. Actually, what impressed me the most is that they actually got the hair preview rendering fast enough to view while animating, which is something I haven't seen done in a useful manner yet.

Star Wars, Star Trek, and probably Frozen.

Star Wars, though, especially the original trilogy is kind of cheating since A New Hope was in Theatres for EIGHTEEN MONTHS (My dad expressly remembers because he saw it once each month in the theaters when it came out) and that was because of just different theatrical release standards of the time. (no VHS, nothing. Once a movie left theaters, for a long time, it was practically gone for good)

>>81271837
A mini-series might be cool. I'd almost suggest maybe 45 minute episodes and the plots being fairly self-contained though.

Though now i'm imagining each episode basically parodies/homages different eras of crime thrillers.

>First episode is modern Cop Show/CSI type stuff
>A case in Zootopia's undercity/nocturnal district is all Noir
>It's a "70's era cop show" episode
>80's Era over-the-top action show episode where Nick can't put down his coffee without something exploding or a car getting wrecked
>Series finale is going into a the oldest districts in Zootopia and it plays like a Sherlock Holmes story.

Friendly reminder for every thread that if you want a Zootopia TV series you are a COMPLETE shithead and want to ruin the shit out of the amazing characters and visuals that have been given to us in the movie.

A TV series would be held back on the visuals by a 22 minute run time budget and they would absolutely FUCK the character development because of filler storylines and bullshit to sell toys to kids. It'll feel like shit and look like shit. No fucking thanks.

those aren't really plotholes.

The plot holes are:
>How the hell was there no trace of the nighthowler toxin on the bodies of the victims when it was splattered against their skin
>How the hell is Judy not in deep deep deep shit for half the stuff she pulled.
And...
>Why the hell are police doing detective work?

The latter two though might both just be answered with the simple "Zootopia's law enforcement works differently", specially assuming the Mammal Inclusion Act actually was lifting previous limits or species requirements for law-enforcement which would imply an institutionalized racism in the past. (though, more likely it was just a "You MUST recruit at least one mammal the ZPD hasn't ever recruited before" or something like that)

Makes me think of one running gag suggestion someone had for a TV series about "A mouse officer joins the ZPD and at some point in every episode he/she is seen hauling in suspects thousands of times their size with no explanation how they're doing it"

I'm trying to recall, did we see the splatter on Otterton and Manchas? I know we saw it on Nick, but those were blueberries. Depending on what was shown, it could maybe mean the stull absorbs into the hide and fades, or it might've rubbed off while the Timber Wolves captured them.

>>How the hell is Judy not in deep deep deep shit for half the stuff she pulled.

Plot convenience.

>>Why the hell are police doing detective work?

Yeah, that one bugged me too. I guess it could be that they didn't want to spend the time showing us plainclothes detectives, which is still a missed opportunity.

Heck, why was Judy doing parking detail? The sign-up form she gave Nick clearly shows that parking enforcement and law enforcement are two separate jobs to apply for. One would assume she didn't receive training to be a meter maid because she obviously did not select parking enforcement on the form in the first place; which would mean Bogo forced her to do a job she was unqualified for, because he felt she wasn't qualified for the job she actually was trained to do.

So, some thing's we've seen from this:
>A storyboard has Nick scrambling up to Judy with a brief case and is pulled down into a pit by a sheep and punched

What I'm inferring from it is that the general end-game of the plot was actually the same. The animals going savage was still a Sheep conspiracy (Honey was right!) and they were still possibly using a chemical shooting gun (the brief case). Though I wonder if Bellwether was a new element?

Based on other concept arts seen, it's possible Judy and Nick ended up captured around that point and Nick was turned wild and set on Judy (who in the concept art shot was tied up ala king kong chick) only for Nick to start protecting her.

Though the other possibility is that the two scenes were unrelated drafts of different ideas for the finale.

Dunno. I like the idea someone had that she called on her actuary friend from the prologue to get the scoop on Nick's taxes and it was a deleted scene, but theres literally no reason to think that this is true. I just think it would be funny if true
I'm sure Bogo probably wouldn't be too anal that she was outside the timelimit since she cracked a conspiracy going all the way to the mayor of the city, he didn't expect her to find anything.
Hes an herbologist, he probably recognized the symptoms and figured out what was happening. We don't know why he went to Mr. Big instead of the cops but maybe he was worried about corruption.

Maybe tax files are public in Zooplace, maybe she was bluffing, most likely just a plot convenience to make her go to the DMV later.

>The parking detail

Actually, it would make sense if this was part of why Judy was so pissed and was meant to be a sign of what kind of an asshole Bogo was being. Not only that, but as some people familiar with Law Enforcement pointed out, Judy's first day should have basically been just orientation and getting herself signed up with the system and receiving her duty gear.

If the latter was also standard procedure for Zootopia, fuck, no wonder Nick tore Bogo a new one.

>If Judy had been allowed standard police equipment, the Manchas thing would have been resolved in a few seconds of darting him and taking him back to the station
>But Bogo didn't let Judy get her damn standard issue sidearm and instead they nearly died because Bogo "doesn't care".

Also, fun fact: plenty of officers in California have been killed because they try to ask someone about a minor traffic violation they're performing! (Certainly paints "my mom says she wishes you died" in a darker light, huh?)

>>81272847
>How did Otterton find out about the Nighthowlers being used to turn preds savage

Lately, I think it's been less that Otterton knew the whole thing, but rather recognized the nighthowler and its effects once he had been hit. That's why Manchas and Mr. Bigg recalled him "ranting about the nighthowlers", it was Otterton trying to warn Manchas in his last seconds of lucidity.

Man, you really want to like Bogo, but more and more he comes clear as an ass.

Oh, and here's something I'm reluctant to call a plothole, maybe more of a weird writing choice, but Judy owns a smartphone, which anyone with one knows, has a recording function. So why does she need to use the carrot pen? Why didn't she just record shit on her phone? Sure, you could say the pen is "descrete", but it doesn't take much efford to start recording in advance and then pocket the phone before approaching whoever you want to record, such as Nick or Bellwether. Plus, she uses the phone's camera app to capture footage of Lionheart's operation, so she still uses her phone to collect evidence.

Obviously the answer can very well be "because Disney wants to sell a voice recording carrot pen".

I'll probably release it in one of these threads and on /3/. However, somebody will need to port it to Maya as this is for Blender, and that is very difficult to do. Things like the hair will mostly need to be redone.

>>81273583
This is made from scratch, just using screen caps as references.

>>81273802
Yeah, I use an Intuos 4 pro drawing tablet I think. Here I used it for the hair texturing and styling. For low poly art, any computer is usually good enough, assuming you aren't talking AAA graphics quality.

it would be ok, but boring

imagine Judy getting flung by a larger animal like football, to kick some Crooks teeth out

Maybe, because I only got interested at first thanks to Bateman. Human or not, I'd definitely watch his first animated VA gig.

Anon who asked this request here,
I like where is this going, great work!
Unfortunately, the only thing that could help you for the reference you ask is this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYlqIp4nJaU

And maybe pic related if that can help too.

Who is the artist behind illustrations in this style? They're a perfect reference for less elaborate Judy drawings.

For this time, forget about that, I just posted this for helping the drawfag, nothing else.

I guess you missed the tweet Rich made.

Nick's mom is alive and well, at the same apartment as the flashback.
