What's /co/'s honest opinion on this show?
>>
It was pretty good at first but has declined in quality.
>>
>>81249843
Started meh got really good then dipped last season now its been releasing decent episodes.
>>
>>81249843
It's a decent show that's still worth watching.
Sure its quality dropped, but S7 had been pretty great overall.
S6 and S5 are looked down upon for their few crabapples, but they have far more good than bad episodes in my opinion.
>>
>>81249843
Around either season 5 or 6 it started to get kinda meh, but Breezy was the straw that broke the hamster's back.

I don't care how 'good' S7 apparently is. Nothing can make up for the abomination that was Breezy.
>>
>>81249843
Started out great, but it turned into a bad case of "too many chefs".
>>
a legendary trainwreck. had a couple wonderful years though, not many shows have made me feel so happy.
>>
Stonercore.
>>
Huntress Wizard episode was fantastic. Made me realize AT can still crank out great episodes.

When it started I thought it was the most fun to watch cartoon. It was a lovely show about a pure young kid and his magic dog brother hanging out and adventuring in a fantasy land of talking candy, vindictive witches who grow pastries, semi-erotic trash demons, and much more nonsensical amusing thing. I don't think anyone didn't notice the obvious drop in quality of what made AT sort of special once they made Finn lust after pussy more than a good adventure.

Despite the increasing intellectual and deep thinking stuff littering episodes (Ex. that whole comet reincarnation stuff), rather than cute fun bro stuff like when Marceline asked why Finn was wearing a pocket on his shirt and Jake was in there the whole time and just farted at the end, AT is still in my top picks of non-adult cartoon favorites. Could use more Canyon, too.
>>
>>81249843
i like it a lot

>>
>>81250817
what was so bad about it?
>>
>>81251202
>too many chefs

This. This show has a fucking identity crisis for this very reason. There are some GREAT episodes, and there are some episodes I can barely stand to watch. It's the full spectrum of quality, I've never seen a show so highly-adored and widely popular, which probably means the fluctuation of quality speaks more for individual episodes than the show overall. On the whole it's just a show about adventures, think random/spontaneous D&D campaigns.

Used to be a breath of fresh air, now it hangs around like dead smoke.

It's pretty much now a launching pad for storyboarders who care more about padding their portfolios than collaborating to make a cohesive & enjoyable product.

AT is so manic and unfocused. It doesn't know what it wants to be anymore. When it started Pen had a very straightforward idea of the show he was trying to create. Now that he's gone there's nobody who really has a grasp on what AT is suppose to be. Right now they're darting around to auxiliary characters because I guess they got bored or tired of making episodes about Finn.
>>
>>81253415
So is like the Simpsons in that way.
>>
>>81249843
Started good, now is a cuck fantasy.
>>
>>81253541
One of the writers is going away, so that might change yet again.
>>
It itself is still pretty good. But it's basically a testing grounds now, for staff, for animation, for writing. Each episode now seems like a new writers take on a long running comic character, who's already had tons of different takes.

I loved it dearly until Finn got cucked by a retarded cinnamon roll and that was the only thing they didn't change back to status quo immediately. I haven't watched since like mid season 6 cause I just got more bitter from there.

CB is just FP's knight.

Also, it has got way better since then. It was AT at its worst.

>. I haven't watched since like mid season 6 cause I just got more bitter from there.
But Breezy is where all the romance drama end.

Why did you stop mid season 6 when the worst you were describing was already behind.
>>
>>81256579
I just got bored I guess. Breezy and those other episodes just knocked my rose tinted glasses off. After that I was desprately trying to have fun but couldn't. I loved this god damn show but I just grew tired of it. I genuinely wish I could bring myself to watch season 7.
>>
It got boring. Nothing ever really changes and it has an apathetic feel to it.
>>
I liked it a lot when it first came out, but I was also 15 and high all the time.

It's been 6 years now.

If I never saw a single episode ever again, it wouldn't bother me at all. Sometimes you just outgrow things.
>>
>>81249843
I really enjoyed the early seasons, but I somehow just stopped watching it.
I loved the shipping more when it was just implied, instead of the entire drama they did with FP and PB.
The lich was cool, but I never felt like the lore delivered on what it kept promising. it was always resolved too quickly and didn't add up to decent lore.

I heard from another anon that there are even some AT staffers who outright hate Finn. Like wtf m8, why are they even on the crew if they just want to see the main character suffer and be ignored?

for you.
and by that I mean that's your opinion, and you're free to have it.
>>
>>81249843
It has always been meh.

The art style was something new and interesting back when it started out and has undeniably had a major impact on animation studios today.

The thing that really upsets, or rather, disappoints me, is that never once has it ever caused me to want to see more. Every episode I watch I feel like it's going to be an awesome experience, but every time it ends I feel like there was nothing there. It's not bad by any means, but it isn't that good either

Personally, I believe it got by because cartoons had been going through a dark age since 2006 and anything that caught the public's eye, regardless of ow good it was, would've gone on.
>>
>>81258109
Apparently the week after next we're getting an episode called "Beyond the Grotto" that revolves around the Water Nymphs.
>>
It's good. Everyone says it dropped in quality, but I personally believe that it's just changed. I like the change, but I can understand why most of /co/ doesn't
>>
>>81258636
watch it to be a sexy illusion in the first scene, and then just grotesque body horror comedy all episode.
>>
Really liked the original short. Stopped watching the show near the end of S1, though, it kinda bored me. Apparently, I missed out on some great stuff and then a complete relationship bullshit meltdown.
>>
Well Finn is aging with with his voice actor (Jeremy Shada is approaching his 20s). Even after partaking in epic adventures, he must eventually sow the oats.

Supported the pilot back in 2007 and was happy to see it get made.

Watched it for 3 seasons before quiting
>>
People might say that the recent season has been great, but it still pales in comparison to earlier episodes. The first three seasons of the show were genuinely charming, filled with fun moments and jokes and expressive animation.
>>
>>81260584
Three seasons is the max "fresh-by date" for most cartoons, it seems.
>>
>>81257987
There was one storyboard artist (I think, I'm not sure) who said he didn't like Finn's characterization and wanted him to be more of a manic dork. I think he was the same guy who did the episode where Cinnamin Bun becomes full baked.
>>
the gold age has gone. now it's CPR time

It was a good show, it metamorphosized into a different good show, and the chrysalis stage was horrible.

To be fair, Finn was originally pretty hyper and dorky. Instinctive, I guess.

He has definitely become more brooding and introverted as the years have passed. It's all just part of growing up, I guess.

I wonder if we'll ever get to see Finn's mama. Imagine the r34.
>>
It's still my favorite show but I think there was a huge dropoff since the earlier seasons, season 5 and beyond is much less good but still decent enough.

Whereas before I enjoyed probably 90% of the episodes at times nowadays it's just like 50-60% or something.
>>
I used to love it but now really lost track of it. Not that I necessarily dislike it now just got tired of it.

I'm hoping it has a good ending soon so that I can kind of get closure for all these people I've cared about back then and move on.

Not really. I think they have a very dim view of what growing up means. Not surprised coming from manchildren afraid of change.

It's fine for kids, but I'm sick and tired of "adults" saying that their Adventure Times, Regular Shows, Spongebobs, Ren & Stimpys aren't juvenile and childish.
At least when I admit I like Scooby Doo, I admit its for kids and I'm a faggot for liking it, I don't go on some justification crusade trying to tell others that it's quality entertainment for mature individuals
>>
>>81265455
fuck off. wanting closure on something you dont care about anymore is ridiculous.

the show has gotten more fantastic with each season. this one is the best yet.

i'd rather this show go until finn grows old than a nice ending
>>
>>81253500
thanks
>>
>>81265925
when i think childish cartoons today i think of lazy lol so random humor like gumball billy and mandy or new spongebob

youre kidding yourself if you think shows made by adults cant be enjoyed by adults as a real show if they are made for a kids network. gravity falls, 1-3 spongebob, adventure time are written and boarded better than most of garbage thats on adult networks.

>>81249843

Geez settle down hombre, OP asked and I answered.
I got tired of waiting around but I still like it somewhat and it would be nice to see it end.

It's not like me hypothetically wishing for that is gonna make the show end next week so settle down skipper.
>>
>>81265571
What do you think growing up means?
>>
>>81266562
Pretty much. SU does what post-S3 AT wants to do but better (even if it has some annoying problems with how it handles character development)
>>
>>81265925
>I don't go on some justification crusade trying to tell others that it's quality entertainment for mature individuals

That's good because no fully-grown adult should attempt the argument that kids' shows are in any way directed toward adults, but I don't see your point in complaining about other peoples' opinions/projections. I'm sure that even the most jaded and cynical asshole in the world can still find some mirth in his most beloved "childhood" cartoons.

>>81266120
Later seasons of Billy and Mandy were somewhat retarded. Never seen it myself, and don't really care to, but I hear a lot of peeps on /co/ like Gumball.

Different strokes.
>>
>>81249843
Watched first two seasons and liked them, then stopped
People say it got worse but I wouldn't know
>>
The problem is AT's universe got WAY TOO BIG and now they're doing episodes focused on candy person #249902 rather than just giving us old fashioned Finn and Jake adventures

I do admire how experimental and free the writing is and how it varies from episode to episode

I think what made me stop watching the show was the one where Susan Strong came back and they finally revealed she was human, which would have been interesting if they revealed it seasons earlier. The show has gotten so convoluted with its mythos that it just lost me and I got bored of it.

The guest animated episodes are some of my favorites though. Especially Food Chain
>>
>>81267435
Knowledge, confidence, finding your own happiness, not having to take other people's shit anymore. "Permanently brooding" was never a good fit for Finn.
